More I suppose I don’t understand why witnesses who had already given evidence would be recalled because an interested party didn’t engage legal representation before an inquest.
I don't quite see why he needs representation at all. Perhaps that was his view too and then the experience of the inquest changed it. I think judges and presumably more so coroners hold private individuals and especially victims to a lower standard of organization than they do lawyers. And lawyers can be bad enough. Also it might depend on what's at stake. Whether the proposed questioning is more about the client's feelings or potentially getting closer to the truth.

My thoughts exactly, especially after the wording of the DT article where it was reported that he wanted to ‘fight’ the NSWPF and the NSW Government at the inquest. Presumably, proceedings have not been to his (and his entourage’s) liking to date.

Just a thought, while it’s being reported in some MSM that William’s biological family has applied for and been granted Legal Aid, did that include his BM, or just his BF, I wonder? Probably a question that can’t be answered here, I suppose.

I didn't mean that necessarily. Despite his experience with the law, he may never have attended an inquest before, and almost certainly not in a similar capacity. It's understandable if his foresight about the whole thing was limited. Perhaps he doesn't think ahead much anyway. But you may well be right.

Perhaps he was ignorant of the law in this case, his foresight was limited or he doesn’t think ahead much anyway but is that enough of an excuse to delay court proceedings? I think the argument may have been made belatedly that it was ‘in the public interest’ that the BF had legal representation.

This reminds me of another case championed by the same entourage, that of Braxton Slager, a child who died in care. It was not particularly a fact-finding mission by them but an excuse to lay blame at the feet of FaCS. I fear the same motive is at work here, regardless of how different the circumstances of William’s disappearance may be to Braxton’s death.

Please excuse my ignorance, but where can I access the podcasts?
Thank you

Wouldn't their income and assets be assessed individually? Unless they were in a relationship . Would paid media exclusives in recent times have any bearing on the legal aid being granted??

I suppose it would depend if they are in a relationship as to how their assets were assessed. Just interested to know if William’s BM also has legal representation as well as his BF. It would be a shame if she didn’t. Surely it would also be in the public interest for her to be represented.

I’m not sure that anyone has done any paid exclusives for MSM. Surely not, when a child is missing.

Legal Aid has to be applied for. If BM didn't apply, because she didn't particularly want representation, she wouldn't have it.

Edit: unless they're sharing a lawyer? I suppose they might if they're considered to have the same interests. I feel it might be problematic.

I have no doubt bio father is seeking the truth. Having been kept in the dark for what would seem an eternity and his obviously fragile mental health I believe his legal counsel will do the very best for their client at this very stressful and emotional time. The bio father deserves the right to participate and hopefully discover what has happened to his beloved child.

BBM Are you suggesting some sort of conspiracy theory?

General question for all readers / posters - Are conspiracy theories allowed on WS? TIA for your help.

I really don't know how what I posted could ever be considered a conspiracy theory and how you could draw that inference. There was no theory just fact in saying both of these events occurred on the same day.

Which you said was very interesting. What is interesting about them happening on the same day?

Exactly, JLZ, and linked by .... (linking dots)
#193 'Timing of the announcement regarding legal counsel is very interesting...the day of GJ departure.'

What else could it possibly mean? What is 'interesting' about it? It would certainly appear that something is being hinted at. I'd be interested to know what that is?

I think only the charges against him will be read, not any evidence presented. It’s been reported that he intends to plead ‘Not Guilty’ at the (Police) Mention so ‘[his] case will normally be adjourned for another mention in 6 weeks to enable police to serve all of their statements and other evidence against [him].’

What are the different stages of an average court case?
