also if ps returned from his walk at about 8.50am he may well have had the opportunity to hear as well as see WT on the back porch or around that area when returning from the walk, that is if he returned via the bush track has his return route been established?

in regards to gj's questioning ps about having william in his direct line of sight from the area he was last seen could well be incorrect. but there is a good chance that wt would have been in his direct line of sight when he was playing on the driveway with his bike at 9.30 am. ps claims he went inside some time between 9.30 and 9.45 and did not see the children at all. that is very bad luck as he could well have seen not only wt but the teal coloured car as well. just turn it 180 degrees.

JLZ posted earlier (see below) that Savage has told investigators that he returned from his walk up Benaroon Drive from the start of the road at the bottom of the slope.
I think Savage likely had multiple opportunities to observe William that morning, from different vantages. Climbing the tree, with FM's help. Running around the outside of the house playing chasey. Riding bike in the driveway.
Sounds as if the children were playing outside for a good chunk of the morning before William disappeared.
According to the article linked by Wex, Savage's walk took him up the fire trail, deep into the bush, and eventually brought him around to Batar Creek Road, so he returned home via the regular end of Benaroon Drive. And it seems to have taken about two and a half hours, including the time spent with caravan lady. I wondered whether he returned to Batar Creek Road via Cedar Loggers Lane. I don't know why--the walk is too early to have anything to do with William. Unless this is where he really went after 11, having briefly secured William somewhere before his wife went out, perhaps in one of his sheds or somewhere on the Millers' property.
