Spedding’s lawyer is asking if Mr Palmer believes Mr McInally is trying to “cover something up” if he denies the conversation happened. Mr Palmer tells the court Mr McInally was “on ice” when he saw the car and that’s why he didn’t want to tell anyone.

The court heard police approached Michael McInally after his former friend Mr Palmer told them about the conversation they allegedly had where he recalled the driver of the car “leaning over into the front passenger seat footwell and pushing something down”.

Mr McInally told the court he told police he went to the doctor’s on the morning of September 12, 2014. He said “it was a long time” ago, but recalls seeing a car “he’d never seen in the area before”.
