We don't really have school buses like the US and Canada. Just the private schools might, or schools for disabled. Not public schools like Laurieton Primary School.
SA the kids did catch buses to school sometimes..

Public buses, right? Not yellow school buses like they have in the US and Canada, is what I meant.
The schools in North America have designated kids-only yellow school buses. They pick the kids up near their homes and drop them back near their homes.

So if people choose to live in the more rural areas, they would need to be responsible for their own transportation to and from school each day? Thanks for the info, didn't know this.

Not really.

I lived on the mid north coast in a smaller regional town and I was 20km out of town on a farm. we had 3 separate school buses that came from 50 odd km away in the bush that then took the kids to different schools in and out town. Busways is the bus line for the Hastings area including Laurieton. But in saying that I am not sure if that place he lived in had this bus. Some out of the way spots they have to drive the kids a bit to a larger stop in the area where all the kids get picked up that way dont have to drive all the way to school. Super remote areas though likely no buses.

I thought no buses?
I'm not quite sure where you guys are getting the info about no buses from?

There was a school bus stop short walk from their house.

Margaret says that Spedding took two kids to school that day. Did the 3rd child perhaps attend a different school?
VW vans can come with 2, 3 or 5 seats (according to VW website) - at least, the newer models can.

"We both arranged to meet for coffee before the assembly, he dropped the two boys at school and he was to meet me at the coffee shop," she told then officer in charge of the investigation Gary Jubelin and another police officer.

I wonder if there was ever a perceived risk of a bio-parent accessing those children? I was wondering - why not take the school bus (presuming their home was far enough away from the school to have school-bus transportation available to them).

No the 3rd child got the bus to school.
I was going to ask if perhaps one of the three grands was old enough to be going to a 'high school' rather than Laurieton PS? (I read the highschools start at grade 7 there(?) and wasn't sure on the ages of the boys?)

I think it was just poor wording==='separate to the house.' JMO

The washer is right inside the patio door. In a separate little alcove. So you could bring a repairman in that back door, and never have them inside the rest of your home.

Thanx guys I set myself on a wild goose chase. :(

They got that from me. I was comparing the systems in various countries.
The only school buses I have seen are private school ones. Apologies if that is not correct in NSW.

When we lived rural in SA, no public school buses. But I have been city-fied since then.

I've not read all the thread as I've been in court all day ;)

But just wanted to say after BS & MS's testimony today, I can totally see why they have had their defimation cases against the media.

The media have a lot to answer for IMO

No court tomorrow......

Thanks DS.
So do you think that the media has had a lot to do with the speculation that BS is involved? What happened at the end of his testimony today where there was a good 30 min and we didn't hear what was said?

I have no idea what has been reported on or not as I haven't read anything, my info if from being in the court room.....

Nothing happened in last 30mins, we were shown BS's video walk thru. Their was no x examination & BS has been excused.....all up it was quite a boring day really

And yes the media has really been a beat up ......and the guy that last week ( sorry can't remember his name atm) did a complete turnaround from his statement about seeing Bills van has a lot to answer for too IMO

Mr Jubelin responded: "I've said to your husband that the media coverage is very unfair".

Well, I've got to say ... it seems it was not Jubes who sent the media pack after Spedding.

So I guess people can quit blaming him for that. Must have been Hans Rupp or Fehon or someone else. Someone who was around for the searches of Spedding's properties. imo

Another thing that rankled between the Sydney police and the local police?

The court was shown a video of the former lead detective, Gary Jubelin — who was in January removed from the case — asking Mrs Spedding: “You’re sure Bill was with you that day?”

“He was. We come here together. We did,” she insisted.

Mr Jubelin asked her: “Is there anything that triggers your memory that makes you confirm that Bill was with you that day?

“Confirm? I know he was,” she said, near tears. “He was here with me. You’re saying he was not. He was.”

Jubes did say that, someone tipped the media off......maybe his neighbour Dean Pollard ( just remembered his name ) who completely changed his evidence?? IMO.....something is seriously off with him IMO
