Has he been cleared , genuine question, I keep reading former POI ? Why was he even called up or asked to testify if that’s the case.

I am just guessing. But what if the investigation showed that he should be cleared, so they called he and his wife to the stand, so the press and the public could see the evidence of his alibi, and his demeanour, and it would help him clear his name and reputation?

I thought that too, but besides the receipt and his and MS testimony that was about all. Thought they would report a bit more substance. They must have more than just cause MS said so. Anyway if he has been found to be innocent in Williams case then I guess it’s fair he is compensated for what the family have gone through as much as I hate to say that . IMO

I guess it was the combination of a few things---
--the eyewitness, retracting his earlier testimony, that he was 100% certain it was BS coming out of the bush after the kidnapping

--one witness, saying he saw BS high fiving his grandson at the awards ceremony [even though the witness wasn't sure which day that was, other details make it seem likely it was the same day in question]

---Such as their grandson's name on the awards list, on the same day everyone sang Hallelujah, on the same morning they had a bank receipt from the coffee shop, on the same day it was noted in his work calendar

--------Also, the parts for the washer did not arrive until after the kidnapping---so we cannot go with the theory that BS happened upon the boy that morning because he drove there to fix the machine. That doesn't make sense if he didn't have the new parts yet.

What I don't understand is, why police made such a show of going after Spedding? Apparently there were police cars and media everywhere when they drained the septic tank. How come PS didn't go through any of this? Was it because his place was searched initially when all the media focus was on searching for William in the bush?

Well, he had some of the parts. They had arrived on the Thursday.
Was he able to get the machine going with what had arrived on Thursday? The Friday part perhaps being something not needed to get it working but to improve the washing machine. A filter, for example. Or a replacement knob.

I can't see why the police would have left him hanging out to dry, if they knew that he had no reason to be there that morning.
