I think she was at the cafe at 10, I think I remember a staff worker saying they saw her

Cafe manager Lisa, who did not wish to give her last name, said she recognised Mr Spedding and his wife but said they hadn't come into the cafe 'in a while'.

She told Daily Mail Australia that police had come into the cafe to ask if she recalled seeing Mr Spedding on September 12. 'I've seen him before but I can't remember that specific day,' she told Daily Mail Australia.

Colin said he had downloaded a copy of Mr Spedding's bank card statement, which showed a purchase at the cafe about 10am on September 12.

I think it is weird that they have apparently given him his work van back already though. If they found forensics would they have given it back so soon?

Not necessarily. They don't tender the whole van to court if they've found evidence - they would have forensically tested the vehicle for whatever, then documented it and kept it for possible future use in court (presuming of course they found anything in the first place).

If it was the POI, then there is no reason for him to rush hiding any evidence on the day. The police had no immediate leads, so whoever did it was probably better off carrying on as normal and allowing people to see him or her normally during the day. Then hide the evidence later on.

So all the known timelines can still hold. The cafe visit. The school visit. Assuming it is the POI we know about.

If it is our POI, I am at a loss to know why. It's crazy. It can't be child abuse because there is no window for that to actually happen, unless the wife is complicit, or WT was actually kept somewhere. Maybe it was just an accident. But so crazy to let this go on for so long, if were an accident. So soul destroying for so many people.

The hope of WT being cared for somewhere is still worth holding on to, imo.

Oh, that is not what I recall at all. Quite the opposite. Do you have a link for that SamandJo? It would help me to get rid of the impression I have that he/they were not seen.

"The friend said Mr Spedding then went to go meet his wife for coffee at Buzz Cafe, 140m away from his office on the opposite side of the street. Cafe manager Lisa, who did not wish to give her last name, said she recognised Mr Spedding and his wife but said they hadn't come into the cafe 'in a while'."

No sorry I can't find it. It could very well be poorly written, but I remember reading about the owner of the cafe saying that she hasn't seen THEM (the pair of them) in the shop for awhile, implying she'd possibly seen the wife alone?

I'd like to know if the Missus was in the routine habit of using hubby's bank card. I never use my husbands unless it is an unusual circumstance. Only if mine is lost or forgotten at home or something weird.

But there was a receipt that was given to LE, showing a time stamp and both of their coffee orders...

I dont recall there being a receipt at all.. Old Mate Colin said that BS had a bank statement proving he purchased coffee there.. In saying that though, I am sure we concluded that times do not come up on Bank Statements.
If a receipt was infact given, can you please link me, as I missed it.

Can someone clarify for me this timeline?

Detectives have returned to the home of the person of interest in the case of missing toddler William Tyrrell shortly after he drove past the new search site.
Washing machine repairman Bill Spedding was spotted driving his van past the search site for the three-year-old's body on Houston Mitchell Drive in Bonny Hills on the NSW north coast on Monday morning, The Daily Telegraph reported.
A few minutes after Mr Spedding left his home the head of the investigation, homicide Detective Inspector Gary Jubelin, was seen arriving at his house, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
William Tyrrell went missing from his grandparent's backyard in Kendall, south of Port Macquarie, on the NSW mid-north coast.
Bones were found on Monday in the in dense bushland during the search for the little boy's body, which involved more than 30 police officers, but a pathologist confirmed the remains belonged to an animal.

When WS drove past the search site, did Det Insp Jubelin virtually cross paths with his, and turn up at BS house minutes after he left...?? Or did BS drive past the search site yesterday, and DIJ attend his house this morning.
I have read so much info today, I think I am struggling to process it.

Also, I am not as well versed as a lot of you sleuths, but I just think it is SO ODD the amount of media attention that is being thrown on BS. Like every single movement he makes is reported. Surely this has to be a deliberate act by LE.
Im expecting the next news article to read - Point of Interest Bill Spedding stops to refuel his car.

They do things weird here in the US sometimes. If they find evidence of blood or DNA in the trunk or whatever, they do NOT return the vehicle. It is impounded until the trial is over.

I must be misremebering. I thought I remebered the 10 am time as being discussed here. Maybe it was speculation and not a time stamped receipt?

"The homicide squad said it was searching the area for the first time because of information from the public and its own enquiries."

It is sounding more to me like they had a tip off about a certain van being seen in the area they're searching, then they had some kind of confirmation from their own enquiries (phone pings). Just IMO.

But if that is the case, why would BS drive his clearly identifying can around? I'm not even making sense to myself!

15 minutes until the update.

Blessed, the media attention isn't necessarily because of LE. Many celebrities have spoken out about how terrible and invasive the Australian media are - if they get a sniff of a story they HOUND the person involved whether they're innocent or guilty.

If you think she was asked in January which is coming to the end of school holidays, if I hadn't seen someone from mid December to late January I would personal say they hadn't come in in a while.

And I would also really hate to have someones innocence or guilt laying in my hands of what I remembered from four months before, I have trouble remembering who I saw yesterday

I guess LE wouldnt do him any favours then and ask them to back off? I just think the amount of media on him means something.

“They have got proof that they were at the cafe because he paid for the coffees by card,” he said.

Mr Spedding and his wife then attended a presentation across the road at Laurieton Primary School, where one of the grandchildren was receiving an award.

Investigators were not aware of this detail before they questioned Mr Spedding this week, Mr Youngberry said.

“But I’ve downloaded the receipt and he (Mr Spedding) has now got it in his hot little hand,” he said.

“You order your coffee and you pay for it straight away, so it covers a reasonable period and it is a very crucial time.”

The couple were “devastated” when they arrived at Mr Youngberry’s house to stay overnight on Tuesday after police interviews, he said.

I'm remembering back to Morgan Huxley and how quiet things were in that case. Police didn't release anything and the community only spoke out after the arrest. The media whipped that one up into the case of a jealous ex lover (one of a possible 14!!!! Gasp!!!!) but when the truth came out it turned out to be a totally different story. Why is this case so different? Is it because it's a child?

Eta the police certainly didn't ask the media to back off in that case. The media fell all over themselves trying to pass the blame afterwards though.

I wonder if there's cameras in the cafe?
