Australia Australia - William Tyrrell Disappeared While Playing in Yard - Kendall (NSW) #79

I was shaking my head in disbelief 😭

As I was listening to that, I was sitting there thinking that if the police had done their job correctly and (consequently) secured a murder conviction against FA, just think of all the people who would have been unharmed over the years - perhaps including William.

I had over whelming sadness for Peter, Helen's brother.

The witness, Iris Northam, said she was told her evidence would be passed on to the Unsolved Homicide Team but five years later she has heard nothing.

“I don’t know whether they said anything or just completely forgot about it,” Ms Northam said.

Another witness named in her statement as having allegedly seen this murder victim at the house of the same convicted offender has also not been contacted by the police.

That sex offender, Frank Abbott, was identified as a “person of interest” by police investigating William’s disappearance in September 2014, though he has denied any involvement.

Abbott is currently in prison for sexually assaulting two girls and a boy and was previously found not guilty of murdering 17-year-old Helen Harrison.

He has not responded to written questions about alleged links to the second murder victim, 38-year-old mum-of-three Margaret Cox, and he was never questioned at the William Tyrrell inquest.

Episode 14 - Margaret

Near the end ....

We know the woman who gave that evidence was told it would be passed on to the Unsolved Homicide team, but no one from the police has contacted her since, nor have the police contacted the other alleged witness she mentioned

And as we learn more about Margaret's death, that begins to seem completely inexplicable, because we learned there was once a dedicated police task force called Task Force METS, who reportedly looked for any links between Margaret's killing and three other unsolved murders.

So Nina and I start looking at those three killings and we find there are others, other unsolved murders here on the New South Wales North Coast .... Irish Northam's statement to the inquest into William's disappearance links Frank to yet another of those cold cases, but that has never been made public until now.

the biggest mystery is why anybody continues to have blind faith in NSW police.
Sloppiness, loose ends and unanswered questions - then and now.

It sure seems that Unsolved Homicides can't seem to FOCUS on witnesses. FA must be loving that. We are hearing about numerous witnesses who haven't been interviewed, or have been told someone will get back to them and no-one ever does.

It seems, FA's been roaming around the mid north Coast ( Taree / John's River / Herrons Creek etc ) for decades causing havoc & victims everywhere he goes.

No one seems to have ever challenged old Frankie boy  as he put fear into everyone he met IMO

Which is why at least two people have waited until they were on their death beds to confess what they knew about FA.

It highlights to me how important RP's deathbed confession truly is. And how important that pulled Ch7 two-part series about FA might be.

And other areas he has lived or frequented. He seems he is rarely challenged but also given a lot of leniency and free-range particularly in the inquest. No one seems to want to actually question him.

Yep it boggles my mind why he never got to give evidence at the inquest after participating in most of it & questioning witnesses.

I know by the time it started back up again after Taree, the police had the FFC as the prime suspect & FA just got forgotten about??

I wonder if that will change

I’m just blown away by all these guys that remained friends with him. “Oh he was going after my grandchild once and my son said he tried with her girlfriend. He’s just a deviant around kids but we got along well” “l couldn’t stand him he used to press up against me all the time and we knew he had been charged with murder but he was my husband’s friend you know” “oh we all knew just not let him around kids”😳😳

I had some questions which sprang up from the last 2 episodes.

Under what circumstances did IN write a statement about FA, which she was questioned about at the WT inquest?
Did the strikeforce come and ask her questions about FA, and then she provided them with a statement?
Was FA a convicted SO at the time of WT's disappearance, basically wondering if he would have been a POI right from the beginning because of those conviction?
I felt a bit muddled about what was said, was DB reporting that GO rang the house the day WT disappeared or was he saying FA rang the house?

The NSW Police can’t be happy about the poscast. Wonder how long before these witnesses get a knock on their doors? Or will they even bother?

I feel like the police have just ignored FA because he’s currently locked up 🤷‍♀️
Agree, FA's not going anywhere. There's a few subtle swipes at Unresolved homicide and at the coroner. I think there's some better analysis by DB and GJ about FA as a POI. It seems GJ can see that a lot of stuff swirling around FA is not evidence but assumptions and innuendo based on the type of character he has been known to be. I'm sure he has come across many characters in investigations who have a longstanding bad rep and use that rep to intimidate people to get by in life. An example that comes to mind is POI's in the Daniel Morcombe case who were known SO's on the stand and claimed to have witnessed and participated in terrible acts with the victim and yet they were not the ones convicted of his murder. It boggles the mind why but they're out there. Having said that, there is obviously more to dig into about him and should be if it hasn't been done already. Seems like the strikeforce has done a deep dive on him for him to be a POI at the inquest.

At the last tranche I saw the coroner say that FA would get his turn to provide evidence, maybe he didn't have questions of any witnesses so she will only accept submissions from him for her consideration. As other members have stated, he can kind of hijack proceedings. I didn't hear her say her reasons for closing the inquest nor hear that there was an NPO covering her reasons why she was doing that. MOO
