The very last group of names I would want to be linked with... Susan Smith and Diane Downs. Ugh. Casey does seem to fit right in there with them.

Although, I am not convinced that the main reason that Casey killed Caylee (because in my opinion, she did kill Caylee) was for love.

I think it had to do more with hating her parents, and revenge. But, love of men and want of 'freedom' do fit in there somewhere, I guess.

This is just the beginning of running across references to Casey Anthony in popular culture. (And to think we've been following this case since Day 1/ Day 31)!

I have a feeling her name will soon crop up as often as Ted Bundy's.

Infamous, indeed.

OJ Simpson's is another name that is constantly found in books. He is always referred to as guilty...cause he is.

I don't believe that Casey killed Caylee for love. Casey killed Caylee out of hate. Hate for Cindy.

I don't believe Cindy being the first to hold Caylee was as simple as the nurse handing her over to her. I can see Cindy hovering over the nurse as she was getting Caylee cleaned-up and swaddled. I can see her telling the nurse "Here, let me have her" with her arms extended ready to be the first to hold her. One thing I have always wondered was who named Caylee? Was it Casey or Cindy?

I think that Cindy set Casey up to fail as a mother from the moment that Caylee was born. Cindy thought of Caylee as her third child. She was her Caylee.

I don't think Cindy even cared if Casey had a job or not. Only because I think if Cindy really cared if Casey was working, she would have found out that she wasn't. I'm not even convinced that Cindy didn't know that Casey was not working. I think that as long as Casey and Caylee were under her financial control, that she could have full control over Caylee (as Shirley has said).

Instead of preparing Casey for motherhood she took over that role for Casey, but only when she could use it to her advantage. She wanted to be "mommy" to Caylee when it suited her needs. When she could throw it into Casey's face that she was "raising" Caylee. When Caylee would come to her before Casey it made her feel a sense of satisfaction that she won.

I could see Casey trying to take on her role as Caylee's mother only to have Cindy swoop back in and take over again. I think this has a lot to do with Cindy saying that Casey took Caylee to "bond" with her. I think Cindy made it very difficult for Casey to bond with Caylee.

I could go on and on...

The point is, I think Casey had ENOUGH of Cindy's abusive (yes, I do believe Cindy to be very abusive) behavior towards her and took Caylee away from Cindy so that Cindy would no longer have anything left to control her with. She hated Cindy more than she loved Caylee. Shirley said it best.

I find her to be in no comparison to Susan Smith or Diane Downs except that they have killed their children. I've never seen a case like this one. It's going to be examined, studied and argued for a long time.

Poor Caylee.

For exactly the same reason as stated by Smart Blonde. And, I would add, because in our judicial system there is the presumption of innoscense. I don't think Casey is innocent: but I'm not a famous author stating it as fact ahead of time to the masses, either.

Make that a famous author with lots of money. I hope she has it all in a trust fund, a separate entity. I can see the $$ signs in CA's eyes already.

Would she go after Ann Rule? She would, but here's the problem as I see it, and I love this part: by the time CA could get that suit in court, Casey's trial would have already taken place. We all know how good attorneys are at stalling trials. Then too, the Anthonys would have to find an attorney to handle it and them.

On the one hand I have to congratulate Ann Rule because she knows as do we all that the Anthony clan is bound and determined to undermine Casey's trial in whatever ways they can, and they're fond of doing it via the media. So if we can have one batch of people preposterously claiming Casey's innocence, then I say more power to Ann because Ann's book will reach many more people than the Anthony's early morning appearances on the Today Show. Tit for tat.

Obviously the State thinks she is guilty....they have brought charges against her and feel they have enough to ask for the DP. jmo

Innocent until proven guilty is nothing but a legal term that courts must abide by. It doesn't mean a person is actually innocent. If a person is guilty, they're guilty regardless of what the courts say ( like the OJ case).

I for one am glad to see someone unafraid to exercise some common sense and not bow down before our ridiculous legal system as if we need its permission to call a spade a spade. imo

Lola, this is such a good post. ITA. I am surprised that Ann Rule hasn't wanted to write the Casey Anthony story--for all the reasons in your post.

I agree with you--it has never seemed like she did away with Caylee for a man's love.....indeed she had CA willing to "take over" (and how!) anytime--so no, the man angle doesn't fit. The reason Casey did what she did was to gain ultimate power ...by permanently removing her "trump card".

I really like your post HF. Thanks!

Also, I've been meaning to ask-what is that in your avatar please? Reminds me of a fright night movie from the 50's and 60's :)

And in the end it won't matter a whit. The truth is always an absolute defense to a libel suit.

It's from the skittles commercial where there is a huge tubesock who shocks people. The elderly man says "Hit me again, Tubesock!". It just...reminded me of something...for some reason...

I agree with you 100% LolaMoon .. very well said! The bolded part of your quote is unbelievably accurate. I was rewatching Cayee's memorial on You Tube the other night and was watching Cindy talk about her and she straight out refers to Lee, Casey and Caylee as her "three children". I have grandchildren and they are GRANDCHILDREN.. not MY children. I had to rewatch it a couple times to make sure she said that.. and yes. she did.

So what do you make of Cindy's undying and unrealistic support of KC now? Making up for all of her abusive ways or just trying to be in control as usual?

I agree with your post and I believe this is exactly what went on in that house. However I do not believe KC killed Caylee because she hated Cindy. I believe that KC and Caylee never had the chance to bond exactly as you stated above. I believe not only did KC resent her mother but she did not feel love for Caylee because of Cindy. I believe KC faked it and did not know how to parent Caylee and did not have the mother and daughter bond with her. You can see how awkward KC looks in the video of Caylee putting cake on KC's face.

I believe that KC resented having to give up her freedom for a child that loved her mother more and all the pushing her to be a mother and then taking control again just made KC resent Caylee - when the final push came to shove - Kc removed the problem and link to her mother and also solved the problem of her freedom being given and taken away and ultimately controlled by Cindy. She killed Caylee - to be free to do what she pleased but also to be free of her mother.

No more Caylee meant no more cindy and no more having to fake being a mother and being responsible.

I do believe she killed Caylee in a rage - upset that she had to meet Tony and that none of her parents where answering their phones. I think she saw an opportunity to rid herself of both Caylee and Cindy once and for all.

Her demeanor at blockbuster is just scary. She is happy. IMO

OK.. I feel like the proverbial salmon swimming upstream here and I KNOW folks are going to be ticked at my post.. but respectfully.. this is my opinion on this book. Here goes...

I have long admired Ann Rule's work and naively thought she did her homework on the cases she spoke/wrote about. By including Casey's "guilt" in this latest book, she has made it blatantly clear that she hasn't bothered to wait for most of the evidence nor rebuttal from any of the defense experts. She took some information, didn't bother to hear the other side of the story/evidence and ran with it. The book is already in print and that doesn't happen overnight.. she hadn't even had the benefit of the multitude of document dumps like we have had to determine the evidence against Casey, let alone bothering to hear the defense's rebuttal against the evidence, before she had determined (IN PRINT) that Casey is guilty and more importantly "WHY" she did it. More evidence, more information is still coming.. heck.. neither the defense OR the prosecution has even finished gathering all the evidence yet.

Yes, I 100%, completely believe Casey is guilty as well.. however I am open to hearing new evidence, new takes on the information and evidence available before I make my mind up completely about how and why it happened. Which frankly is very important if you are going to put a book into print that proclaims someone did something because of a specific reason and you use it to tie into some other famous cases. (Diane and Susan). It's called "waiting till you have enough information to actually prove your point". Whether or not Casey is guilty.. becomes a moot point. The whole thing just reeks of bias and reworking the "facts" to support your theory instead of writing the truth.

Ann Rule's book is extremely disillusioning because it's blatantly obvious that facts do not play an important part in Ann Rule's ability to claim someone is guilty, nor does it appear that she bothers to learn all the information before she makes a snap judgment about a situation. It makes all the other information she writes about people.. suspect.

In light of the last few large document docs and the information we have learned through the jailhouse letters regarding how Cindy and KC interact with each other which make it increasingly obvious that Caylee was killed to spite Cindy or as a result of the relationship with her mother and NOT because of love for Tony Lazaaro and Casey wanting the perfect relationship as Ann Rule claims and tries unsuccessfully to tie in with the other two mothers, Diane and Susan. In my eyes, Ann Rule just ruined every shred of credibility with me.. and is now firmly in the realm of being willing to say anything to try and cash in on Casey's current notoriety. I would still read her books.. but she has dropped down to National Enquirer status and reading her work is now for entertainment and curiosity rather than believing that it is a well-researched factual book.

Ann Rule just hired on as one of the circus acts.. IMO :(

Ann Rule has stated she won't capitalize on Caylee's death by writing a book.

The fact that she's formed an opinion is not an issue, whatsoever. No matter what the courts, say, I think it's pretty fair to say Casey Anthony killed her daughter.

Ann Rule is perfectly within her rights to state that belief---every bit as much as any of us.

It does not in any way impact her credibility.

ITA with your analysis. I have always felt she killed her in a fit of rage for the reasons you describe. I also believe that just leaving Caylee with her mother and being free was not an option, it would mean letting Cindy win. They were in a mental and emotional tug-of-war with Caylee, which turned physical, and in an irrational rage, was seen as a permanent 'win' by KC. How's that 'win' working for you now ICA and Cindy?
