Did you find anything today to tie Derrick Begay to Annovedwin Begay other than the last name being the same and both their bodies being found in close proximity within a two week period? It's just TOO coincidental IMO.

It IS a very common surname on the reservations, even here in NM, for what it is worth.

I actually didn't lend any credence at all to this theory in the beginning. But maybe I discounted it too quickly. After all, he did dump Anno's body that morning early.

He could have been in the area at the time Adrienne disappeared.

He could have been responsible for Derrick Begay's murder (if it was murder).

He sounds like a really really mean and aggressive monster.

True! But he had Annovedwin for awhile before he murdered her. Maybe he took Adrienne somewhere else and stowed her away.

I just wrote PIO Sgt Pooley about Annovedwin and Gerrick possibly being connected. I will let you know what he says.

Thanks again for that important reminder! I am going to check on Gerrick's possible/probable relation to Annovedwin - problem is Annovedwin's Facebook profile was recently removed from FB although it was available initially after Annovedwin was ID'd- (probably removed by LE for investigation reasons... So it's hard to see any of Annovedwin's contacts/social networks bc it seems LE may have sealed much of her personal info/networks.)

This is true, if he killed Adrienne. I am still not convinced that this other girl was his 'girlfriend' willingly. His manner of disposal and the police's description of how she was found leads me to the hypothesis that he may be a bit more disturbed than it's being made out to be. Since he is in custody though, it wouldn't look good for Adrienne at this point even if he did take her and restrain her somewhere.

I'm with you that it is probably not connected, but I hope they covered all of the bases anyway.

True but he doesn't seem to have a specific MO as to where he dumps the bodies (if he indeed killed Gerrick and put him in lake).

Now if we find out Gerrick was naked when found, like Annovedwin, and had some trauma to the head - these would indicate George prefers to strip his victims of clothes/ID and is not very specific as to where he drops his victims remains.

It has also bothered me that they didn't adequately search this area using K9s, etc.

1. She could have been injured in the accident and wandered off in a daze.

2. She could have been abducted from her impaired vehicle.

3. Someone could have used her car to dump her body...(farfetched by still possible)

4. She could have been scared and hiding

And various other reasons. I wish they had searched it right away. Possibly her dad looked around the area since he was the only one who seemed concerned.

In order to believe any of those scenarios, then you have to disbelieve witness reports of her abandoning the vehicle, returning to her apartment to pack a bag, and her being fine and texting/calling between the time of the crash and 5:06 am.

To overlook all of that is overreaching, I would say.

I haven't left yet. Goblin, this body wasn't found in 2011. It was found May 28th, 2013, only two weeks before Annovedwin's body was dumped and the same day Adrienne disappeared.

It's no tangent....it's just another theory. But we know this dangerous murderer was on the loose near the area where Adrienne disappeared and at the approximate same time.

The discovery that a young man bearing the name Begay was found in the lake only two weeks before only makes it more eerie...and, like 2Hip stated, makes him appear more dangerous and perhaps a serial killer type.

The body of Gerrick Begay was not found in 2011.

It was found after memorial day at the end of may this year, just 2 weeks before the murder of Annovedwin Begay (Barakzai) and the disappearance of AS.

I think it is all tied together and I really do think people have the right to try and theorize how all of these events could have led up to the night of AS disappearance and ABB murder.

I think many here have stated that they believe the murder of ABB and disappearance of AS are connected, so any significant info in regard to ABB that might help us put the night of June 15, 2013 in perspective and make sense of the possible connection I feel is appropriate.

Goblin...I never saw anything that indicated anyone saw her 'walking' at 5:00 am. Did you read that or see it somewhere?

The only thing I have read over and over is that she was "last seen" at 5:00 am. Sorry, I am not trying to correct you...just trying to get some facts.

Yes. Last seen at 5 am. We don't know who saw her, or where.....a person or caught on video. But if LE states she was last seen at 5am, well, there you have it.

tempe, for size of city has one of the lowest murder rates in country. i wouldnt bet money on it, but i dont think it breaks 10 people a year. for close to 200,000 people, AND the nations' largest university.

tempe beach lake, is also the most visited spot in arizona. or number 2, behind grand canyon?

we have insane huge parties at this lake, and the ironman triathalon, and people all the time down there on dates, or picnics. its actually shocking that a manmade lake is so popular. i bike it often, too.

my point, is that the lake is gonna by percentage have people die in it, its an awful fact. the cops made right move to check it, and who can say what is what in terms of this case.

my only beef/grievance is that other things should of been spelunk'd like that lake was. thats all

But didn't you also say that Tempe has the highest incidence of kidnappings? Or did I misunderstand an earlier post? Those could very well be murders, too. The whole Phoenix area is crime ridden. But.....it is beautiful out there!!!!

personally, i am not thinking the bf is involved.
I think when she did not turn up, he may have been relieved, and gone to sleep.
But time will tell, i guess. Assuming this case is solved, unlike too many others.

The latest i could find were for 2011 but it is very interesting!

one, a guy SUPPOSEDLY and is held on murder charges of his asu gf. rural/apache. bludgeoned her with weights. left her dead, turned himself in.
