Does anyone know where the victim was found, and/or where the horse pasture is? I reposted the map.
How many immigrant problems has this man reported in the decades that he has been there?
why would anyone report the fee, its an illegal coyote. If someone took 2500 dollars from the victim for services and routed him through a property well known to be inhabited by a private property absolutist, wouldnt that person be responsible for reckless endangerment of the victim? Or criminal negligence, conspiracy to trespass etc etc
Was the fee declared as income to any governing authority? Plenty of crime to spread around this situation. Theft of a backpack and contents. Are the radios being operated at frequencies and power levels legal under the FCC? Were all guns present legal by statute? Was anybody an undocumented concealed weapon carrier?
I'm skepticat, tooThere were alot of red flags in the witnesses testimony, IMO.
Call me skepticat.
I'm part way thru, it's really good. Don't anyone laugh, it's in the same vein as the McCarthy Border Trilogy, matter of fact, no syrup. Which I have read all 3 border trilogy volumes several times except the one with the wolf that makes me cry too hard. Can't get past the dog/wolf fight. We don’t know, but the book he wrote, Far Beyond the Border Fence, was published in 2013, according to Amazon. It presents itself as strongly based on his situation, with the main character about GK’s age, and the main character and his wife named George and Wanda, just like George Kelly and his wife Wanda.
The G and W of the book decide to build their new home when work on the border wall begins, but when the border wall is abandoned, the flood of drug traffickers and human traffickers resumes. Their new home is broken in to, three times in three years. The Border Patrol, ICE agents, DEA agents, are ineffective. George patrols the ranch daily, armed with an AK-47. The border area is a ‘war zone.’ George keeps a ‘constant vigil,’ and only leaves the ranch when necessary, in broad daylight, when the armed trespassers are less likely to be around. By the way, they seem to cut fences as they please. (People in this thread have asked if the ranch was fenced and posted with No Trespassing signs.)
By the way, people in this thread have asked why GK moved—I think it’s very likely that the book supplies the answer. The main character moved from Montana to Arizona because at their age, it was too hard to manage the Montana winters.
Of course, the book is fiction. However, whether GK fictionalized the basic conflict or not, it shows what his thoughts were, more than ten years ago.
It definitely would be interesting to know if those multiple break-ins were documented.

What? A real estate agent is supposed to list a property as dangerous? Not going to happen. That is part of the due diligence of a buyer. Anyone listing a property in Southern Arizona or anywhere along the border is going to have a very long wait for a buyer, unless a cartel can find a straw man to purchase it for their use. I wonder if that ever happens?Real estate description of the Kelly’s ranch. Note “very quiet, peaceful and extremely private…” Not really.

“Vermilion Mountain Ranch is a must see property. This absolutely beautiful ranch includes 169 +/- acres of native grass lands with varied terrain and vegetation. It is a very picturesque setting with mesquites, huge oak trees, a magnificent riparian area and endless long views of mountains in every direction. The ranch is very quiet, peaceful & extremely private at the end of the road bordering thousands of acres of the Coronado National Forest and the Patagonia Mountains to the east.”
Apparently, he is also trying to sell a smaller 80 acre portion of the property. It has the same assessor parcel number as the larger property with a “B” after it.

My mesquites are bare right now, my live oaks have green and my cedars are green and I have cacti galore. I’m in central TX so not same area but similar plants it seems.I'm part way thru, it's really good. Don't anyone laugh, it's in the same vein as the McCarthy Border Trilogy, matter of fact, no syrup. But there are a couple of things I learned from the Kelly book so far
1. He says both mules (drug cartel) and coyotes (human traffickers) come through from "dusk to dawn*, thus he can only get things done in the daylight, can only leave his house in the daylight to shop, etc.
2 he answered a question I had asked earlier, do the mesquite drop their leaves in fall/winter? Yes, he refers to them dropping leaves but of course not the spines. I wondered because the photos on the realtor site are so green, so much thick foliage no way, imo, could he see 100 yds away. But the killing took place (RL) in Late January, there would have been a lot more visibility.
Imo
Actually, I'm curious about that. It is a named road although it is on GK's property. See East Sagebrush Rd on attached Google Map.I think possibly that the 'road' discussion came from the witnesses, who were attempting to describe their surroundings at the time. One of them reported a "road" nearby. But, IMO..this was a private dirt path/ trail head which was used by the land owner. Maybe in an ORV, or via horse. It was wide enough to fit a vehicle, in closer proximity to the home, but it was definitely not a paved city/town road. This was a privately owned trail head, on Kelly's private property. Just my thoughts on the matter.
Where do you see the barn like structure on that map? Unless there is an alternate satellite view available, or something.Actually, I'm curious about that. It is a named road although it is on GK's property. See East Sagebrush Rd on attached Google Map.
IIRC, C-B's body was found south of the bend in the road going toward the barn-type structure.
When W. Sagebrush becomes E. Sagebrush is near GK's home. Whether the dirt road is legally public or private at that point, I don't know. Likely private since it traverses his 169.5 acres.

There's something in those lawsuit docs that iirc Lilibet posted, it refers to what the town was supposed to do for Kelly, re "platting" and some other land-development services he thought he would be receiving from KS. I don't have time to go back right now, however that post is interesting. But, as I mentioned before, I can't imagine KS extending electricity to him if he's not on a public road.Makes me wonder if the road E Sagebrush, was continued 'named' through the property, in anticipation of Kelly's once desired plans for building rental/ranch living. More musings...

icing on the cake for me in this case would be if the people crossing the border told us they were just following some popular mapping app that "told them to go there" <modsnip: off topic>Actually, I'm curious about that. During a warrant search of Kelly's house following the shooting, sheriff's deputies found several weapons but at first missed the AK-47. They returned with a second warrant and found it hanging on a door.
Atty. Larkin said her client shot into the air above the migrants. She has said Kelly feared for his and his wife's safety and the property.
D.R.R. testified that he and Cuen-Buitimea, whom he called a friend, had paid a guide for passage across the border on Jan. 30 and were heading to Phoenix. He also said neither of them was carrying a weapon, and the guide had left them.
The man said he believed he heard 15 or 16 shots fired as the group ran. A sheriff's deputy testified that investigators recovered nine shell casings near Kelly's south-facing back porch.
D.R.R said that as he fled he saw a man with white hair near the house and something in the man's hand. He did not identify the object as a gun.
“I ran 20 meters (22 yards) when I turned around to see him,” D.R.R. said. “I turned around to see if it was government agents coming after us. I was able to jump and I jumped the wall back to Mexico.”

I like the photos with the markups but I thought it was 100-150 yards so 450 feet circle from the house as shooting perimeter. Can you mark one up with that distance?Another view of the K property. Yes it is confusing with testimony being feet, yards, meters.I like the photos with the markups but I thought it was 100-150 yards so 450 feet circle from the house as shooting perimeter. Can you mark one up with that distance?
Thank you
What is the green rectangle?
ETA are there any pictures of a gazebo and it's proximity to the house or where GCB was found?
