You know, I think those pictures used to be in NamUs possibly.
Also, do they still have her hair? They are able to create a DNA profile from hair strands without follicles now. It's how they built the middle child's profile for forensic genetic genealogy. If they still have it, it may be worth a shot.

I saw that, but these were actually colored photos of her skull being held by some guy. I will have to dig around some more. I'm thinking there had to be a link on here, I can't think of how else I would have come across them.

Is this by chance the pic you were thinking of? (attached)

There's link to the article in this thread, page 2, post 28. I don't have a subscription so I can't see the article but here's the link to it: Special Report: Cold cases to heat up

I don't think that's Little Miss X's skull. It looks like a bullet hole in the skull. It actually looks like it could be the skull in this article (which also mentions a shoe being found with the remains).
Museum Collection helps with cold case

Good question Alleykins. This article states that police tried to get DNA from the hair/necklace, but were unsuccessful.

@CCJD - Unfortunately, that's not the picture I saw. The picture (or pictures, I believe there were two) were probably taken in the 60s maybe? IIRC, the man holding the skull was alone in one picture and was wearing clothing from about that time. The other was a crystal clear close up, and it was sitting on a rock or table, I can't remember. I'm almost certain they used to be in NamUs at one point. I usually get screen shots, but it appears I didn't. The close up had a great shot of the teeth and it was face-on.

@HmmMysterious -That's interesting they tried to get a DNA sample from her hair follicles but was unsuccessful. Do you have any idea when they tried to do that? I ask because, even in the short amount of time forensic genetic genealogy has been used to identify remains, the techniques and technology to collect a usable specimen have improved, and this new tech uses the hair strand, not the follicle. If this attempt was made around four or five years ago using previous methods, it may be worth attempting again, IMHO.

Sadly, I have no idea when they did the sample.

@Caring1 could you post the list of NamUs exclusions for this Jane Doe? I would appreciate :)

Has Beverly Mastny ever been considered? She was possibly spotted in 1957 in El Paso Texas according to Charley Project. Here is Little Miss X for comparison. I have already submitted via LE and NamUs. I know that Beverly would be 18 or 19 by the time but Doe Network lists the oldest possible age as 17 instead of 14. 17 is 1 or 2 years off but I think they look similar and is one of the few I never really saw being talked about probably because she ran away years prior.

I think the two's jaw and face shape are very similar. Let me know what you think! I understand we can't really get a confirmed match as they lost Little Miss X's body but if they ever come across her DNA then they can test! I also don't know if they have Beverly's Dentals but if they do that's great as I believe Little Miss X's dentals are!

In my opinion I think that Beverly Mastny can be a very good potential match for Little Miss X, everything seems to fit.

A friend of mine and I have been working super hard to try and get Little Miss X solved and we stumbled across Carol. Table:

SexFemaleFemaleMatch
RaceWhite/CaucasianWhite/HispanicMatch/Possible
Age1911-17 (Doe Network Estimate)Possible
Height5'5"5'0"-5'3"Possible. (Tests were done in the early 70s at latest and Carol's height may be estimated.)
Weight115lbs105lbsMatch/Possible
Hair ColorBrownBrown/AuburnPossible
Eye ColorBrownUnknownPossible
Estimated D.O.D/D.L.CMay 31, 19581957Possible

The heavy eyebrows on Carol caught me as odd as Little Miss X has the same type of eyebrows. Eyebrows can be somewhat estimated from the shape of the skull. Let me know what you think!

I think this could be a pretty likely possible match.

Carol Batterman and Little Miss X both have dentals available so they can be compared, so I think this potential match should be submitted.
