She'd known Chad since 2017, and Lori since 2018. That's beyond the 'new best friend' stage, IMO.

I’m not trying to be MG’s defender but I just don’t see her level of involvement the way most do.
I think sometimes we forget how much of the time MG & LVD lived in separate towns and states. Yes they did click quickly and apparently spent a lot of tie together while LVD lived in Gilbert and even some while she was in Chandler but…
They met in Oct 2018. A little over 3 months later was LVDs nutty with cancelling CVs flight, moving and hiding his truck, CV taking LVD’s phone & keys from the car, and CV’s attempt to talk with LVD by using LVD’’s phone to call her. During that 3 or 3 1/2 months besides telling MG & others that CV had been taken over by an evil spirit named Ned, LVD was also telling MG that CV was cheating on her - she told her family the same thing. MG was dealing with her own family issues and that’s part of the reason they clicked.
And remember that MG looked to JM as a leader and he had “introduced” MG to LVD. Remember that MG was and is a follower. She questioned LVD about hiding CVs truck & getting rid of his stuff - but she followed her lead. And when CV called her from LVDs phone and she thought all of it was too nutty and didn’t know what to do, she chased down JM who she saw as a leader and asked him. JM advised her to advise LVD to go to police. She did & they went.
I don’t recall the exact timing but within the next month or two I think, LVD disappeared for 58 days - part of the time at AC’s and the rest in Hawaii. After she returned she went to TX for a while - the best I can recall was this was a couple of months. Then she returned to AZ to Chandler to put JJ in a summer program at his school.
So after MG met LVD, she was in Gilbert only a few months then at ACs and then she went to Hawaii and then she went to TX. MG met LVD 9 months before CV was murdered but they only lived in the same town for about 3 1/2 months. True Chandler & Gilbert are not that far away but they weren’t spending as much time together when LVD was at ACs or in Hawaii or in TX - though I think I recall MG making a trip to TX to visit but I could be mistaken about that. And LVD left AZ about 6 weeks or so after CV died.
So I think their “best friend stage” was shorter than most realize. And remember MG was involved with DW by the time LVD moved back from TX to AZ which would have also limited her time with LVD. I’m not sure I think they were ever as close as the media portrayed and remember ZP was at the infamous pool party while LVD didn’t even tell MG that CV was dead until several days after it happened.
I just don’t see the level of involvement that most attribute to MG. I cannot say the same for ZP or MBP - they seem to be more on the inside of LVD’s circle than MG does except for that first few months of their relationship when LVD was living in Gilbert.
