To be fair, there are people who have odd religious beliefs, but no one imagines that they will actually kill children.

MOO, the children were killed, because LVD wanted their money, and they didn't fit in with her plan to live in Hawaii. She killed JJ, just out of pure hate towards Kaye, and Charles Vallow.

It had nothing to do with religion. That was just some sort of justification made up to appease their narcissism. Keeping up the illusion CD and LVD were so holy and wonderful. Even to themselves.

It is true bamboo is a very strong substance; however, easy research will tell anyone that when bamboo is broken down and formed into fiber for fabric it essentially becomes like rayon, with similar strength (I.e. stronger than cotton, but no longer as strong as bamboo hardwood floor for instance).

She could have gotten divorced. Let CV have custody off JJ. Retain custody of Tylee. In just a few short years, Tylee would have finished high school. LVD and CD could have carried on and danced on whatever beach they like.

LVD could a way to remarry, cash in on life insurance and then collect benefits for children she'd killed.

I share your questions about that second shot. And when being questioned by LE in detail about the specific step by step actions of LVD-(allegedly)-playing-keep-away-with-the-phone while CV was allegedly backward-swinging the bat as he chased after her, LVD seems to hedge. “It was all happening in seconds” she says after demonstrating some motions.

LVD got life insurance and SS benefits through Tylee after Joseph Ryan's death, which I assume is where she got this idea of murdering for profit. If that one wasn't her first murder.
