I’d think parents and grandparents would see some of the contradictions - the wiping of tears when talking about Tylee’s alleged part in the encounter and the exaggerated claims to having to care for five kids once widowed against the nonchalance of driving away with the two kids, CV’s phone in hand, hitting the drive-up window for greasy chicken fries and Sprite for breakfast, making a quick stop at Walgreen’s to get some leopard-spot flip-flops for herself and some ugly neon-green ones for Tylee, a couple quick time-outs from all that nurturing-mothering to take AC’s calls, dropping off JJ without mention to the school staff of the horror he’d just been in the vicinity of and would surely find devastating later, and then returning to the scene to flip her hair at the officer while chatting about new neighbors, her daughter standing nearby without so much as an arm around her shoulders.
