AZ - Man who followed teen into Phoenix restroom beaten to death by girl's father, 2 Aug. 2018

Intent is everything. What were the intentions of the man who went into the women’s bathroom? He was up to something nefarious or seriously confused about the female and male symbols on bathroom doors.
He's dead so how can we know?

And if his intentions were nefarious how does that equal someone can just kill him?

I’m not sure the guys Aunt vouching for him is the best defence. Another case of “that person would never do something like that”, which is heard in almost every single murder case.

Perhaps.

On a similar note, I'm not sure the guy who just beat a man to death is a reliable reporter when claiming the dead man hit him first.

Exactly. We have a justice system. We're not barbarians or in the wild West.

You’re right, I’m just going by what’s given to us. But typically men going into the ladies room is a mistake that’s quickly realized. Im absolutely not saying he deserved to die. But if his intentions were to get a woman alone in a bathroom that’s pretty evil.

Seems this guy possibly may not have even know it was a young girl in the bathroom, since he was busy asking her father for money after she went in, so to say he has a history of terrorizing young girls is a bit of a stretch. especially since the security didnt say that specifically (or store employees, not sure if we even have a quote for that).

And intent really isn't **everything**

I don’t know, intent is what someone is planning on doing. Someone’s intentions and plans is pretty important.

"Important" is not the same as "everything." I disagreed with "everything."

I understand, Knowing what someone’s intentions are can make or break a court case. It can reduce or increase a sentence. If it’s not everything it’s pretty darn crucial

I think we can agree there. Again, it's too bad the victim here never got his own day in court; the father will.

My bad :( I have bad internet. I’ll delete the double post. I’m new to this

And welcome, by the way! We like having new posters here :)

There isn't a way to delete. It happens.

If he wanted to snatch her back into the bathroom then he would have grabbed her and pushed her back in once she tried to exit.

But hopefully there are cameras.

I disagree, because once a “scene” is made, an attacker will rarely stick around, imo.

I’m in the process of a discussion with mods, so I’m not linking to these docs/sources just yet. There’s no documentation I can find that shows either Melvin Harris III or Leon Leevon Armstrong were registered sex offenders in Arizona.

However, I think it’s fair game to repost these facts and sources:

According to MSM reports, Harris has priors for arson and domestic abuse.

PD: Man who follows teen into Phoenix restroom is beaten, killed by father

Also, MSM reports show Armstrong had prior arrests for shoplifting and trespassing.

Sincere apologies that I am now just finding time to respond to a question that has cropped up about any arrest record for the victim.

Leon Armstrong, the victim in this case, "had a criminal history of shoplifting, trespassing and obstructing police." He is not on the sex offender registry. So far, nobody has been able to locate one single thing that suggests there were any arrests for anything related to any sex crime, or any domestic violence.

Melvin Harris, the accused in this case, has an arrest record for arson and domestic violence.

Any member who refers to this victim having a history as a pedophile, or refers to him as a pervert, a child molester, rapist, etc will face temporary or permanent loss of posting privileges. Let the facts come out before resorting to affixing labels to a deceased victim.

From this article....BBM
Father charged with murder in alleged fatal beating of man
“Melvin went into the business and told a security guard he needed to handle the situation, or he would do it himself,” according to the court document. “Security told him they would handle the situation.”

Harris went back to his car and started to drive away, but then saw Armstrong and confronted him, court documents showed.

According to witnesses, Melvin approached the victim and punched him in the face causing the victim to fall. Witnesses described the victim as snoring and moaning while on the ground,” the court records say. “Melvin then, while standing over the victim, struck the victim in the face several more time and also kicked and stopped [sic] on him.”

He then got into his car and drove away, the records said.

Police obtained a detailed description of Harris’ car from video surveillance footage and tracked down the man at his home, which is near the convenience store, and detained him for questioning.

“During the interview, he admitted to punching the victim in the face but said it was only because the victim swung at him first, striking him near the neck and shoulder area,” according to court records. “After hitting the victim, the victim fell to the ground and curled up into a ball.
