The fundraising site referred to in post #44 states that he spoke on the phone to his father that afternoon and told him he was showing real estate to clients, so I think that part is confirmed.
From facebook, he has a Mexican girlfriend he lives with in Mexico. He mentions in a comment on facebook that he was just up in Kingman for a couple of weeks.
There must have been communication with these clients by phone, less likely by email. Their phone # can be tracked, that's would be the obvious first step.
The withdrawl of cash seems to me quite suspicious, who gets into a stranger's car with lots of cash? Why would anyone need and want thousands of dollars in cash? It's usually only used for very shady transactions, like bribery, or drug deals, or tax avoidance.
On the other hand, someone who has obtained the use of an SUV doesn't usually need to kidnap or murder someone just for the sake of a few thousand dollars. Arizona has the death penalty, it's such a risky thing to do. Also, a couple in a SUV aren't the usual half-crazy parolees who seem to be responsible for a fair [/B]number of random murders of strangers.
I does feel that a thorough on the ground search is necessary. Somewhere I read that there was a helicopter and a check of all the properties, but of course that wouldn't find someone under a bush, etc.
In real estate, when people talk about 'cash sale', they mean money transferred directly between bank accounts ie there are no loans involved. Dealing in actual hundred or thousand dollar bills is inherently extremely risky - precisely because it can so easily be stolen and can't be traced, and there's no real proof the sale happened. Anyone with any sense uses certified cheques issued by a bank for any amount larger than $1,000. Also, because of the drug trade and tax collectors, anyone depositing large amounts of cash in the bank gets reported and investigated.
You can't work in Mexico without jumping through a lot of permits, and if caught you'll be kicked out, so I don't think so.
My opinion is he was trying to be one of those lucky guys who retire at age 40 and never have to work again. Unfortunately, it's not as easy as some of the bragging on the internet makes it seem, also it's easier if you're single and can just live out of your truck. It's possible that his obvious eagerness to sell his properties left him open to a dangerous swindler.
Just curious : Can a person make a good living selling land in the Mojave ? tia to anyone who might know.

..."We're doing everything we can and following all leads," said Jennifer Sochocki, public information officer with the Kingman Police. "That doesn't mean we're going to release all our information to the public, though."
...Not only has Sidney's cell phone been "pinged" - the battery was dead - but police traced his last call and found that it came from a house Sidney's friend was working on at the time. Sidney's motorcycle was still parked there.
- New compressor for the AC unit
- Brand new kitchen including plumbing, lighting, cabinets, counters
- New roof with Lifetime Warranty
- New hot water heater
- New carpets, complete orange peel wall texture throughout
...Chris said he has hired a private investigator to find his brother, who has close ties to Kingman and is well known. Sidney also left his laptop computer, which is being held by police. Chris said Sidney's disappearance is unlike him.
"Sidney has always been super accountable," said Chris. "That's why I know he's not anywhere of his own free will. In fact, I'm just worried that he's not with us anymore."
