Just curious : Can a person make a good living selling land in the Mojave ? tia to anyone who might know.

Ok, so I don't think he's a realtor. Everything I've read says he's an Engineer who used to buy up properties in Mohave county for INVESTMENT, and now he is selling them. I keep seeing articles calling him a REALTOR and its clouding my thought processes. Where is he advertising his land? Have they investigated the friend who was the last to see him? Is he the one that says Sid had $$$$ on him? I don't have a good feeling here. I don't think he went to Mexico. On his FB, he seems to have always announced his road trips. Maybe his disappearance is linked to his travels to Mexico. I don't know.

This morning on my way to work I saw some police trucks towing utv's , my guess they are headed out to search. I hope all his other properties have been searched thoroughly that are in town, such as all his homes in the area.

I hate that he posted so much of his financial info. on the web.

It seems his GF lives in MX...(LD)

She doesn't seem to know where he is either.

She posts something along the lines of --- IF he was in MX he would be with her FWIW.

I'll tell you what I don't understand. Why is it that when someone goes missing and the family sets up a "Missing Facebook" type page and issue flyers and what-not, why don't they provide pertinent details ? I was sitting here this morning going back over the last couple of pages to make sure I hadn't missed anything.

What I noticed more than anything were all the questions people keep asking about the tiny details, many of them simply being details that would provide some insight and direction into his disappearance.
----------------------------

Does he have a car, where is it ? What kind is it ? Is he a realtor, or is it a hobby ? Is he married ? Girlfriend ?

Does he have a phone in his possession, have the cops pinged it yet or even tried ? Any checking into his financial activities since going missing ? Anything showing up on bank accounts or credit cards ? How would his brother know he was carrying around a few thousand dollars, and is that common for him ?

Was the door to his home locked or unlocked ? Any signs anything was stolen or taken ? Any signs of a struggle ?

Why was he dressed so casual? Why would clients pick him up instead of the other way around? Was this normal procedure for him ?

Could he be in Mexico ? Could he be at the horse track over in Vegas ? When was the last time he talked to family ? And the list goes on and on and on......... It's just one sensible question after another...unanswered.

----------------------------

It's not just this case, this would apply to many of them that we follow here on Websleuths. I think if I was a family member searching for a missing loved one, I would provide every tiny detail humanly possible in an attempt to jog someones memory and to help give a better overview of the circumstances leading up to the disappearance.

90% of the questions asked in this forum could easily be answered and explained by either his brother or his closest friend, and yet you won't find anything regarding the facts of the case except those sketchy snippets of information provided in the newspaper and on TV reports.

If they are going to go to the trouble to set up a missing persons page or issue flyers , why not provide enough information about the person to give people direction on where they should begin looking?

The fundraising site referred to in post #44 states that he spoke on the phone to his father that afternoon and told him he was showing real estate to clients, so I think that part is confirmed.

From facebook, he has a Mexican girlfriend he lives with in Mexico. He mentions in a comment on facebook that he was just up in Kingman for a couple of weeks.

There must have been communication with these clients by phone, less likely by email. Their phone # can be tracked, that's would be the obvious first step.

The withdrawl of cash seems to me quite suspicious, who gets into a stranger's car with lots of cash? Why would anyone need and want thousands of dollars in cash? It's usually only used for very shady transactions, like bribery, or drug deals, or tax avoidance.

On the other hand, someone who has obtained the use of an SUV doesn't usually need to kidnap or murder someone just for the sake of a few thousand dollars. Arizona has the death penalty, it's such a risky thing to do. Also, a couple in a SUV aren't the usual half-crazy parolees who seem to be responsible for a fair number of random murders of strangers.

I does feel that a thorough on the ground search is necessary. Somewhere I read that there was a helicopter and a check of all the properties, but of course that wouldn't find someone under a bush, etc.

RBBM : does sound kind of outlandish, that a former real estate client would disappear the realtor.

Are most land sales all cash deals ? Wonder where in Mexico he lives ? Does he work in real estate there too ?

Does he own a firearm (s) If so was it with him ?

In real estate, when people talk about 'cash sale', they mean money transferred directly between bank accounts ie there are no loans involved. Dealing in actual hundred or thousand dollar bills is inherently extremely risky - precisely because it can so easily be stolen and can't be traced, and there's no real proof the sale happened. Anyone with any sense uses certified cheques issued by a bank for any amount larger than $1,000. Also, because of the drug trade and tax collectors, anyone depositing large amounts of cash in the bank gets reported and investigated.

You can't work in Mexico without jumping through a lot of permits, and if caught you'll be kicked out, so I don't think so.

My opinion is he was trying to be one of those lucky guys who retire at age 40 and never have to work again. Unfortunately, it's not as easy as some of the bragging on the internet makes it seem, also it's easier if you're single and can just live out of your truck. It's possible that his obvious eagerness to sell his properties left him open to a dangerous swindler.

The cash sale thing somewhat reminds me of the Jamison case. Supposedly they had a bag with $32,000 in it when they disappeared. It was said that they were meeting someone to buy a parcel of land, and that was what the cash was for. Do not have a link, so jmo

They can if they're charging 12% interest. Lol

I believe that to maintain a real estate license you have to supply proof of legal residence in the state, or at least in the US. However he was living full-time in Mexico, so perhaps for that reason had to give up his license.

 • #74
His license expired the end of May. This is June. Why wasn't it renewed....or was it ?

There's too many voids and missing information in this case to come up with a solid theory. Case in point, the neighbor saw him leave in an SUV....okay.......did the neighbor sit outside and watch his house for the next 12 hours, non-stop ? How does the neighbor know he wasn't brought back home by that same exact SUV, possibly after dark-thirty?

I can't figure out if a crime has been committed or if this guy just took off on a spontaneous vacation. His family seems to have a very fatalistic view of the whole thing, making comments along the lines of "I don't feel like he's with us anymore". What could they know that leads them to feel that way ? Most families hold out a certain degree of hope in these cases, with many refusing to even consider the worst outcome, yet his family seems almost resigned to it. Why ?

 • #75
Presumably the experience of his immediate family is that he lets them know what's happening and doesn't just disappear without warning. His case has been publicized for almost a week, why wouldn't he have come forward to reassure his family? And why haven't those last clients in the SUV come forward? I hope you are right, but if it turns out to be the case of a lost week in Vegas, his reputation will be ruined.

Search continues for missing Kingman Realtor
Brother hires private investigator; police accepting tips

http://kdminer.com/main.asp?SectionID=1&SubSectionID=1&ArticleID=66421

snipped...
..."We're doing everything we can and following all leads," said Jennifer Sochocki, public information officer with the Kingman Police. "That doesn't mean we're going to release all our information to the public, though."

...Not only has Sidney's cell phone been "pinged" - the battery was dead - but police traced his last call and found that it came from a house Sidney's friend was working on at the time. Sidney's motorcycle was still parked there.

Shall we assume it's the same house where the neighbor saw Sidney chatting with the white suv???

Where are you Sidney???

Also snipped from the link Mica posted...

...Chris said he has hired a private investigator to find his brother, who has close ties to Kingman and is well known. Sidney also left his laptop computer, which is being held by police. Chris said Sidney's disappearance is unlike him.

"Sidney has always been super accountable," said Chris. "That's why I know he's not anywhere of his own free will. In fact, I'm just worried that he's not with us anymore."

<snip>

"I can't imagine why he would’ve gotten abducted like this,” said Sid Cranston, his father. “He didn’t really have any enemies.”

Cranston said the Kingman Police Department hasn’t given the family much information since his son’s disappearance.

“They’re keeping us really in the dark,” said Cranston.
