GUILTY AZ - Sidney Cranston, 40, Kingman, 16 June 2015 *Arrest*

 • #81
I think most of us know if a family member or friend might take off without saying anything...at least as much as we can ever know. My friend who is a realtor is the same age as Sidney, single, has a nice life...but if he vanished for even a day, it would be a panic. He just wouldn't. I don't know if Sidney is like that, but people who know him might. Also the break-in is scary.

 • #82
So no neighbors hear or saw anything unusual with these burglaries?? I mean people dragging out everything including the toilets? Even at night, that would make noise

 • #83
Sounds like those burglars knew he wouldn't be there. Maybe they are the perpetrators.

Mystery Client Sought in Arizona Real Estate Agent's Disappearance
Jun 25, 2015,

<snip>

An Arizona real estate agent hasn't been seen or heard from in more than a week, and police are trying to determine the identity of a mystery client who met with the man before he disappeared.

Sidney Cranston Jr., 40, agreed to meet a potential buyer at a vacant home in Kingman June 16, his brother Chris said. A neighbor reported seeing Cranston at the home, but Cranston mysteriously vanished after the meeting.

The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office and Kingman Police Department are involved in the search for Cranston.

.
..Sid Cranston was supposed to show a 10-acre property that day, but he did not inform family or co-workers who the clients were – which is one of several safety recommendations that the National Association of Realtors suggests for agents.

So, WHY or i guess the correct question is WHY NOT??? Is Sid in the habit of not following these recommendations? Or was there a reason he didn't think this applied to him on that day, at that particular moment???

my guess, which is totally speculative, is that he wasn't in the habit of following that recommendation. I think he traveled a fair amount and probably felt like he could gauge people and handle situations with strangers. also, since, from what I understand, the land he was showing was his own there wouldn't have been any co-workers he might have told--it might have felt weird to him to say to a friend, "Just in case I disappear I want you to know that Mr. X is the person I'm showing land to this afternoon."

The key to solving this case is the two supposed clients who haven't come forward and contacted LE.

Did they tell Sid they wanted to buy his property and it would be a cash deal/sale?

Isn't that what happened to the female realtor that was killed by the one who lured her there under false pretenses? Sorry her name slips my mind at the moment. I do remember though she showed up in a tank top and shorts. Nowadays that isn't odd clothing to wear especially if it is a hot day.

Someone set Sid up and his body is probably somewhere out in the desert.:(

Some real estate companies are making it mandatory that the particulars known and whereabouts must be given to someone inside the company and a lot of real estate companies are also making it mandatory that agents must go in pairs.

However it seems Sid worked his real estate deals on his own.:(

I think the so called clients weren't clients at all and even if he had given them the name he was given it would not be their legal name anyway.

Wow, that report of the burglary in post #80 is a red flag - can it just be coincidence? Burglary of an empty home, stealing appliances etc., is fairly rare. The gang has to have the truck to move the stuff out and be pretty organized and bold, and be in cahoots with a contractor to sell the appliances, cabinets, to. There's reports of a rash of such burglaries elsewhere in AZ: http://wkrn.com/2015/06/24/clarksville-pd-responds-to-rise-in-burglaries-at-vacant-homes/

They'd have no reason to kidnap someone, unless it was to keep him quiet if he knew who'd done it.

Since his lic. Expired 5/31, why would he have to give anyone notice he was showing property, especially his own? Jmo

That was my initial thought too, the answers lie with the unknown clients...which may or may not be the same 'unhappy' couple mentioned also...

But this from a news report upthread (#76 / 77) has me thinking...perhaps a little too much...fwiw:

...Not only has Sidney's cell phone been "pinged" - the battery was dead - but police traced his last call and found that it came from a house Sidney's friend was working on at the time. Sidney's motorcycle was still parked there.

Now my inquiring mind wants to know, is this the same house that was burglarized?

ETA: Is this also the same house the neighbor saw Sid out front talking to the white SUV???

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is going on in Kingman???

:dunno:

The thing is, Beverly Carter was petite, pretty, blonde and rich, and the guy who killed her stalked women. His motive, which is not uncommon, was his severe sexual/psychological problems around pretty blonde women. I just don't think there's the same kind of predator fixating on 40 year old businessmen. The motives behind the murder of men like that is more usually robbery, revenge, or some kind of business or personal relationship gone wrong.

Sure, but we've seen on WS that there are people who will kill others for >5 year old trucks. If he carries around a few thousand bucks and killing him would give the perps access to more cash or valuables, I think that's more than motive enough.

....

As best I can make out, SC owns 2 houses: one at 1811 Club Street, you link to it in post #77. He also owns another house, on 2303 Lucille You can get easily get the info from the internet, that he bought both houses very cheap and is asking more than double what he paid.
Both houses are vacant, ie not rented out. Both houses have been remodelled, ie new kitchens, etc.
Only the Club street house has a garage. It's the one mentioned in news media as where he was picked up, left his motorcycle, etc.
Zillow shows the Lucille street house as being for sale by owner, but shows the Club street house as being now off the market. This leads me to believe that the Club Street house was the one burgled, that's why he took it off the market, it wouldn't be saleable.
His friend Al Blanco runs Blanco Services, a handyman/construction business, and does work for SC. This invoice shows he did the work on remodelling the house on Lucille Ave. http://www.donerightland.com/Documents/311-14-102B/repair%20invoice.pdf
Perhaps Al Blanco was starting work on remodelling the Club Street house.

I don't know where SC stayed when he was in Kingman.

I agree, but how would they know he was carrying the money? And there's been no activity in his bank account since. So they would have had to make some kind of deal where he agreed to give them cash in exchange for something, but they robbed him instead. That's a more complicated relationship than just a random potential real estate buyer, he can't have been so foolish as to fall for that scam that 'I have an overseas buyer but you have to supply $3,000 cash to secure the deal'.

Lots of information in this long article. I've included the important parts.

<snip>

But one tip may break the investigation wide open. An ATM withdrawal was reportedly made by Sidney Cranston, 40, on Friday in the Kingman area, says Cranston’s brother Chris. “The surveillance photo shows my brother at the ATM and then a white vehicle behind him,” said Chris Cranston. “But something doesn’t look right though.”

It was reported to police that Sidney Cranston went to a home in the 1700 block of Club Avenue, which belonged to his friend Al Blanco, and parked his bike in the garage. A neighbor reportedly witnessed Sidney Cranston in the garage and then speaking with two people in a white Sport Utility Vehicle that had pulled up. “The man told us that when he turned away to do something and turned back towards the direction of the house, the garage was closed and Sid and the vehicle were gone,” said Chris Cranston. The vehicle is described as a white SUV, with dark limo tinted windows, a large CB radio antenna on the roof and 22-inch rimmed wheels.

According to Sidney’s brother, the police confiscated his work computer and was obtaining a spreadsheet list of the properties in Sidney’s name. On Tuesday (June 16), Chris Cranston reported to the Bullhead City Bee that he was able to obtain a copy of the spreadsheet to start a search of his own.

“I was told by one of the sergeants there that the computer could be released to me once they got all the information off of it, but then I was told a few days later I’d need a subpoena to get it. I don’t think they are doing everything they can to look and some people have told me comments were made about them believing my brother was involved in some criminal dealings. That’s not true.”

He added that one of the properties Sidney was reportedly showing that day was off of Stillwater in Kingman. Chris Cranston did not know if the police had already searched the property, but it was on his list to search on Wednesday. “We were able to get some help from his cell phone provider who showed the last phone call was made near the Walmart Shopping Center, off Stockton Hill Drive, but that would put him in the area of his friend’s home on Club Avenue. Now the phone goes straight to voicemail and there was no activity logged since,” Chris Cranston said.

“He may have shown these people the properties and it turned into a robbery. I was told my brother had a couple thousand dollars on him from a payment on one of his rentals.” Chris Cranston said, “a crime of opportunity.” A few days before Sidney went missing, a vacant property of his on Hodges Road was vandalized and items removed. “They stole the stove and refrigerator then the carpeting was rolled up and placed near the front door along with the water heater. Sidney believed they were coming back so he staked it out during the night and no one came. It was the next day he went back and the things were gone,” said Chris Cranston.
