No, I was teasing you, 'cause the more I read about all of this, I really do wonder if the step mom should be questioned A LOT.
Off to pay the bills ;)

I so very much agree. The step mom has gone...where??? She was one of the first people to point to her stepson. Why???

I'm sure I missed it ~somewhere~, but did LE (or anyone) ever name the rifle brand that was used? If anyone knows, could you let me know?

Thanks!

The rifle is a Chipmunk or Cricket. That's a youth model single shot .22 LR. It is 30" long and weighs 2.5 lbs. A single shot is extremely slow to operate compared to other models.

I have always considered her (The step mother). But when I heard the little boy was hugged by her and he cried. That really threw me for a loop.:sheesh:

Mr. Romans and the boy's father have had a history of getting in fights at work and at a local bar. Mr. Romans supposedly had a drug history. If anyone can help me find the link to the article, it would be appreciated.

I never heard about them getting into fights at work or a bar.

Since both of them were in some type of capacity as a foreman or supervisor from what I have read it is only reasonable that there may be disagreements in the workplace. The only thing I can remember reading was Vincent had a verbal exchange with a female coworker about keys to a forklift.

Most likely to be somewhere with her family or friends.

Did you not read that I said "possibly at the hand of his 8 yr old son?"
As far as I'm concerned the rest of what I said is true. Nothing negative has been said about the dad in the papers or by anyone in the community. Those are the facts as we know them right now.

That is true and it has been a month already.

Thank you, Shock. I was just reading up on these rifles. One cartridge at a time. I think I'll go scope out if there are any tournaments for children under the age of 10 years. Just to get a feel concerning loading gun, timing, and coordination. I have a feeling it could either be interesting or non existant. Never know what I can find, gun novice that I am. I *love* Google! :)

Yes, there are two dead men. However, we do have
- record of domestic disturbance reports at the house
- comments from somewhere that dad & roommate did get into skuffs at a bar & had problems with other employees
- his own mother saying "they were too hard on him" regarding her observations of how they handled the child
- the child's 1,000 spanking comment & saying he was always in trouble
- the quoted statement of an official on the Laura Roberts blog from 11/22 which noted that there is evidence to indicate the child might be innocent of killing these men, but that it could not be discussed due to the gag order

So, maybe there is another culprit, and the child is a victim, too, and he didn't think it would be his father's last day on earth either.

"might be innocent". Is that what the public defender said? Wouldn't they know if it is or it isn't with it being a month later?

I have never heard or seen any link of the stepmother pointing the finger at the boy. Please show me the link. The only thing I have seen is that Mr. Romans (the roomer) wife asked the police to find out what the boy knows, since he was calling out to her husband when she was on the phone. The only people to point a finger at the boy were both the paternal grandparents. The stepmom only gave the police permission to speak to the boy, she did not point a finger at him....

show me the link.

It was in a news article early on. I am sure if you Google, you will find it as I did early on in this case.

Well others have heard about their scuffles and scraps at a bar and work. Let me find the link after i break up a cat fight outside..

You might look at this link. It doesn't give you recycle time, but has an excellent description of the little rifle. I'll think you'll get a good idea of it's operation.

I have to go back to the pictures of the gun we saw online. The picture of the gun made it look heavier than the one at this link. However, if I'm not mistaken, it looked like only a one cartridge loader. I'll go and scope it out.

Here, OBE, i found the link for you:

"The victims' co-workers, friends and family told detectives that the two men recently had been involved in minor disputes with colleagues at a nearby power plant and with men at a local bar.
• Police in San Carlos, where Romans grew up, told St. Johns investigators that he had a prior drug arrest and was suspected of minor drug dealing. Friends of Romans told St. Johns police that he was getting a divorce."

Well, after looking at the LE picture of this gun and the one you shared, I wonder if the only difference is that the gun owned was older. I stiill cannot see how this child was capable of loading constantly to pull of such consistant shots. I'm sorry, it just makes no sense to me.

According to PD documents, On Wed. 5 Nov 08 in St. Johns;

4:45pm A neighbor arrived home and did not hear or see anything unusual. Mr.___ lives across the street in a westerly direction from the Romero home.
4:52pm Mrs. Romans begins phone conversation with her husband.
5:00pm? 911 call is received. The caller gives his address and tells the operator that there is a body on the front porch of his neighbors house and that the front door is open. He also says, "the little boy who lives there is here with me."
5:06pm Sgt. Rodriguez arrives at scene. Mr. Davis (911 caller?), his teenage son, and the 8 year old accused were there.

This timeline allows the kid 5 minutes to shoot Mr. Roman's six times, reload his rifle (the gun was found with an unspent cartridge in the chamber), lay the weapon on the dog cage, run to a neighbors house to report that he'd found the bodies, wait while his story was confirmed. Then call 911. If Tonya and Timothy Romans spoke only for 2 minutes then add a minute to the total time.

Seems quite a feat for an 8 year old to me.
