Kamille, I just read your full post. I was referring to the same thing. Sorry for the double post.

Although you can buy duck tape any place, don't know if they had time or would have thought to run to a store. We keep a small roll in our suitcase for emergencies example a rip in the bag or faulty zipper or latch. Good old duck tape got us home several times. Maybe Mrs Mack carried some. These two were good at stealing maybe took from service cart.

Just the thought of Heather taping her mothers limbs.. I hope they feed her fish heads. Jmo

ciao

Hotels generally have it available as well. I've had occasion to borrow some for torn luggage.

Suitcase went to the taxi at 11:26am which then puts the crime as possibly around midnight according to the autopsy.
IMO that definately discounts the claimed CCTV footage of Sheila in the lobby at 3:45am.
Blood stained towels were found in garden area of the hotel - perhaps it was HM in the lobby caught on CCTV when she was off stashing evidence.

Thanks for help re the hunt for data. Coming up empty everywhere.

The suitcase went into the taxi at 11:26am but then the driver waited 2 hours before calling hotel security about his missing passengers. Hotel security noticed the blood on the bumper and likely in the trunk of the car and told the taxi driver to take his "cargo" to a police station. So it was probably at least 2pm by the time they discovered the body. Not sure how long it was between the time the taxi driver contacted hotel security and the time he pulled up at a police station and someone actually came out to investigate the contents of the taxi. Could even have been longer than 21/2 hours from the time the suitcase was first put in the trunk. 1/2 hour from the time the taxi driver alerted hotel security until the time the suitcase was opened at the police station is a very conservative estimate. It may have been more like another couple of hours.

The hotel had very sophisticated surveillance which supposedly takes very clear images. So I don't think HM could be mistaken for her mother on that surveillance. Maybe another older woman with the same build and hair color if there is no clear image of the person's face. Or maybe that was just a reporting error.

I wonder if the towels found in the garden area were just dropped off the balcony during the clean up?

Narrowing down a time of death within minutes of a person dying isn't an exact science. 12-14 could actually be 8-10. Sheila had serious wounds, and based on her positioning in the suitcase, she most likely had post mortem wounds as well. Plus the temperature there, etc all plays a factor. I wouldn't say that just bc the doctor or police said 12-14 hours that Sheila being seen on CCTV at 3:45am should be discounted. That's a pretty specific thing for them to say so they'd definitely have to be able to back that up since its a fact in this case. I'm going with their footage being fact. There's no way at all Heather could pass off looking like her mom anyway. Nothing about her looks like her mother. Her entire face is her father through and through. Plus her skin color is darker than Sheila's. Sheila looks very pale skinned.

"Sheila Von Weise-Mack was murdered when she was standing, hit by a blunt object, it could be an ashtray or flower vase that was found at the crime scene. The body was found 12 - 14 hours after it happened," said Dr. Dudut Rustyad, head of the police forensic team at Sanglah hospital morgue in Denpasar.

The autopsy found that breaks in von Wiese-Mack's neck and nose extended to her upper right and left jaws, causing respiratory disorders. It also showed hand wounds suggesting she was trying to fend off an attack.

"We also found blood aspiration, which meant the victim was standing when assaulted," Alit said. "The conclusion is that the victim suffocated from lack of oxygen because of influx of blood from the broken nose bone."

I don't remember what time Sheila was discovered. I know it was 2 hours after the suitcase was left in the taxi. They say she was killed 12-14 hours prior to the discovery of her body.

And somehow that doesn't make sense...or is off somewhat because IIRC, they said she died Tuesday morning.

No way is HM adopted. She looks just like her parents, IMO.

I agree. She looks like a blend with her parents. There is a local on the radar comments and she emphatically states HM is NOT adopted and that SWM gave birth to her at a late age-- 42/43.

Pardon if this has been posted already, but here is a link to a video account online of HM, enjoy before it gets locked down: http://www.vinegram.com/u/940463768373178368

That actually makes more sense because it makes it possible she was killed later, after 3:45am, and possibly the suitcase was not opened until around 12hrs later.

I don't think she looks like her mom in the face at all, her nose, mouth, forehead - all her dad. She seems like she has her mother's cheek bones, chin, neck, similar build. Skin is a blend definitely. She's not adopted. Several people that knew Sheila when she was pregnant, loved in the same Oak Park neighborhood and socialized with her, posted on several media articles in the comments sections about her pregnancy. They're real people bc they used their personal Facebook pages to post their comments and are associated with Sheila on there. I agree.

I've searched for her birthdate everywhere, including all comments on articles - and nothing. HM doesn't seem to have an on-line presence, nor friends that commented on birthday parties.

The funny thing is, why would HM go on a trip with Shelia, when she hated her so much? And what happened to the $500,000 that was to go to James' estate for HM? "Sheila von Wiese-Mack immediately netted $340,667 after legal fees for her share of the settlement, according to court records.

Heather's friends posted a collage of them together near, or on her last birthday HERE:

It appears she was good at making friends and popular ...I wonder what they are thinking now she's being charged in bali for brutally murdering her mother, they seem pretty immature themselves. Though it seems like they hadn't seen her for a while - she's still in a lot of their pictures on Facebook & looks so much like a normal teen compared to her pics with TS & recent Bali ones.

Tommy was NOT together with his exgirlfriend when she died, they were already split for a LONG TIME according to people who knew her and him. His Facebook seems slightly like some obsessional shrine to her. It wasn't that much of a stretch that he would get with Heather, after viewing her pics with her friends, she just seems to be from a similar privileged background with money and popular but mixed race like him, on the outside before the murder.

Maybe what happened is Heather told her mother about her pregnancy, her mother was angry.....Tommy got totally angry & especially disrespected because Sheila didn't approve of Heather having a baby, probably mentioned abortion.....one or both incited attack. On heather's vine there's video of Sheila talking about 'low class' and '🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬/*****', so maybe something similar happened.....
i also wonder if TS wrote that he had no words about Robin Williams after or before.....I am kind of thinking after ......Sheila could have set the two off by saying she had 'no words' about her daughter's irresponsible pregnancy. i can completely imagine and see it.

Some interesting little snippets on that acct. When did HM go to Greece? Was that another holiday with her mom?

News articles refer to the Greece trip a year or two ago. I think just HM and SM.

I thought it was said that Heather's father died in Greece. Then I think I read that she tried to take her away during that same time every year, be it to Greece or wherever. Maybe for her birthday? Heaven help me, I forget. I'll try looking for it.

Side note: I read previously that Sheila's portion of the lawsuit was upwards of $300,000 after lawyers fees, taxes, etc but then she was awarded the $500,000 in 2012. I'm thinking maybe its bc Heather was so off the wall nutso and getting ready to turn 18 so Sheila was finally trying to put her foot down doing the right thing. I also read that Sheila's brother was the other executor of James' will.

http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2014/08...li-received-840k-from-cruise-line-settlement/

Three years ago a Cook County judge approved a $1.5 million settlement in a lawsuit von Wiese-Mack’s late husband had filed against Royal Caribbean Cruises, after injuring his foot on a cruise ship.

He had been dead for years by the time the lawsuit was settled, so the bulk of the settlement — $840,000 – went to von Wiese-Mack. The Sun-Times reported James Mack’s will indicated he was providing only for his daughter, Heather Mack, who was 10 at the time he signed his will.

However, in 2012, a judge allowed von Wiese-Mack to pay herself the $500,000 that went to her late husband’s estate.

The Sun-Times also has obtained police reports from 86 visits police made to von Wiese-Mack’s former home in Oak Park from January 2004 to June 2013. The reports detail repeated allegations from von Wiese-Mack that Heather Mack punched and bit her, though she regularly asked police not to arrest Heather.

Police did arrest Heather Mack in January 2011, after she allegedly knocked her mother to the floor and broke her arm.

From the link provided, they talk about a lawsuit settlement of half a million. That is NOT a lot of money.

No, it's not. I just think that HM wanted to be able to do whatever she wanted with whatever she could get. She didn't want to have to answer to ANYBODY!
I'm curious of her tie (or her family's) to the attorney. I'm not so sure she was calling to confess her crime. I think she was trying to figure out a way to get out of the country. Maybe she thought the attorney could finagle a way to get a passport quicker?? IDK...but I doubt she was coming clean about anything.

So, HM's lawyer is finally due to arrive in Bali today (it is Thursday morning in this region). But he is not going to represent TS at all, apparently.

The FBI agent flew back to the US with Sheila's body - which should have arrived in Chicago a handful of hours ago, by my calculations - they said she was being transported directly to Chicago to be examined by FBI.

Mr Elkin is expected to arrive in Bali today to talk to Ms Mack though he will not be representing Mr Shaefer.

Bali police spokesman Hery Wiyanto said both Mack and Scaefer were depressed.

"Their mental state is checked every day," he said. "Tommy seems better, but as they both continue to refuse to speak it is difficult.

"Tommy is under close observation and has no access to materials he could use to (commit) suicide," Mr Wiyanto added.

Yes, it's incredibly troubling. Seems as though Heather was way more than a handful, more akin to a devil's spawn IMVHO.

Something bugs me, though. In those reports of police visits to their house, it's written that Sheila wouldn't let her husband's son visit (when he was under 18 for visitation), would turn out the lights & lock the doors if his mother was trying to drop him off, wouldn't let him speak with his father, etc. It makes me wonder if this could have something to do with Heather's hatred towards her mother. I also remember reading that Heather's siblings (from her father's previous marriage) haven't seen her in many many many years. If that is all true, I wonder if it'll play a factor in Heather's sentencing.

BBM

HM will be sentenced in Bali, not be represented by a US lawyer in court, her Indonesian lawyer may or may not get the opportunity to speak (depending on the judges), and I am not sure that the panel of Indonesian judges will even think this is relevant in her murder sentencing. It appears they work pretty much only on the 'facts of the crime', as they say. The only mitigating factor that I have read about is if it is a drug charge, they may be a little kinder if you are a drug addict.

I know this is terrible for me to say...but I could care less that they're depressed. I do not care one bit about what happens to them. I wonder how fast they go to trial?

How in the world did he go from dating someone like Rachel, to someone like Heather?

It appears they are polar opposites. Except for the fact that both their families had money.

BBM

I had that thought too. TS sounds like he was a struggling 'musical artist - and companion'. He may have been attracted to a girl with a good financial background, so to speak.
