If this was premeditated prior to their vacation beginning, what was the daughter thinking on that 20 + hrs of flying from ORD to DPS (including connect time). Wonder what thier conversation was buckled in next to one another for the long journey.

Chilling

 My guess would be that the daughter was thinking rebellious, evil thoughts and playing along for awhile with a devious plan to get some more money out of Mom, and you know what "it do".

I'm pretty sure eventually she'll learn in prison how to let people tell her what to do.

"On August 7, Mack's 19-year-old daughter Heather posted on Instagram a photo she presumably took from the window of their hotel, the five-star St. Regis, accompanied by the caption: "i refuse to let someone say what i can do, gettin (sic) money my attitude you know what it do #bali," the MailOnline reports."

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ter-luxury-hotel-lobby-just-hours-murder.html

"...Witnesses reported that she and her mother were seen arguing on a number of occasions at the hotel, causing some staff to be concerned that the couple might even come to blows.

'The mother had all the appearances of one of our upmarket guests,' said a staff member, 'but the behaviour she and her daughter showed did not belong in our hotel. Even so, it’s such a tragic end for that poor woman.' ..."

All I've read about this mother/daughter relationship is about constant, continuous arguing. Sounds like things were not going to be resolved or change for a long time.
No advice, lectures, talks, or luxury vacations were going to change this rebellious girl any time soon. What a waste.

"Laura Voigt, a pianist in Oak Park and friend of James Mack, said she remembered seeing mother and daughter fight outside the local high school one morning."

No, I don't understand what it do! :hills:

I'm totally shaken up to read what happened to this woman and loving mother who ended up dead in a suitcase.

In the above link where heather said I refuse to let someone say what I can do. Hmm... How's that working out for you Heather?

It appears she put her mother through heck for so many years. Good luck with learning a new language as the jailers tell you what to do everyday all day. Jmo

This girl is a monster. I wish she had never taken her on this vacation.

If mom knew how she was and fought with her all the time, why did she demand the daughter and boyfriend pay for their hotel room?

Surely, this mother and daughter had moments of caring and love, right? Maybe she thought this trip would bring them closer. Perhaps she would still be alive if she hadn't paid for the boyfriend to join them.

I'm of the opinion that killing her was planned long ago and this trip allowed it come to fruition.

With all the arguing going on constantly, I can imagine a real hatred for her mother developing. Sometimes parents can become consumed with wanting nice outcomes for children, but sometimes it may be best to let them go for awhile. I wonder if these two ever went to therapy together.

(Homebound anything doesn't sound safe either, with all those past 86 calls to the police, it sounds like a bad idea, IMO.)

All just my own thoughts as I work through this sad news.

“Another crisis with Heather,” von Wiese-Mack wrote in a December 2013 email to a friend who provided it to the Tribune. “She has not been in school for over a month and yesterday was consumed with trying to keep her safe. I am trying to get her homebound tutoring once again.”

Here's a twist:

Police also allege that after the killing, the couple had sex in the room of the five star St Regis Resort and at their new hotel.

Police sources have told News Corpoeration that Heather Mack was today taken to the obstetrics and gynaecology section of the police hospital for tests after telling police she is pregnant.

It is not known who the father is.

Oh dear God

That's in response to possibly being pregnant AND having sex after beating her mother to death and stuffing her in a suitcase.

:thud: It's a twist alright. Thanks for the latest news. Disgusting to think they had sex after murdering her mother. Sheila was such a gracious woman from all I've read. The daughter is used to pulling her dramas, and I hope she's unable to get away with it anymore.

Here's more from the same article.

Bali Police chief Inspector General Albertus Julius Benny Mokalu, said the couple had yet to provide police with a statement but he said there was strong evidence against them.

“Although they have not given a statement, it is not a problem. We have much evidence including the CCTV footage, fingerprints, the luggage, it shows they are the perpetrators.

“This is premeditated murder. Why? Because we can see how they put the body in the suitcase.”

He said they may be charged under Article 340 of the Criminal Code which carries a death sentence.

Teacher, coach say man held in murder of girlfriend’s mom was ‘charming,’ ‘good kid’
http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/...s-mom-was-charming-good-kid.html#.U-23jMJ0y6k

"Tommy Schaefer had troubles at home, but nothing ever seemed to indicate he could one day be involved with a cold-blooded murder, according to people who know him."

“He claimed to be homeless a few times and was just kind of transient — bouncing around from friends’ couches to friends’ couches when he was a student,” said Zachary Jablow, who taught Schaefer at Columbia College Chicago and produced a song for the aspiring rapper. “I would have never have expected him to do anything violent. He was always a pretty charming and pleasant-to-be-around guy.”

Further into article -

"Schaefer’s mother, Kia Lashawn Walker, declined to comment when reached by the Chicago Sun-Times on Thursday."

hope there are other relatives to inherit from the deceased as the daughter seems to be an nasty nasty piece of work from what I have read so far on this case. (JMHO)

This lawyer must not know when she got an attitude for money what "it do".

..............................................:shakehead:..........................................

“The reports are false,” Mack’s lawyer, Michael Elkin, told the Chicago Sun-Times on Thursday. “She claims to be innocent and I have some corroborating evidence.”

Elkin declined to elaborate.

“This is becoming a fiasco,” he said. “My client was portrayed as a psycho or some crazy cold-blooded killer . . . There’s more than meets the eye.”

He said Mack, whom he described as “a very pleasant young girl,” was hysterical when she called him as police were detaining her on Wednesday.
