I very much doubt that Bali will give these prisoners up, believe me Australia has tried in the past and got nowhere .. there is a lot of freedom in Bali prisons, they'll probably actually be better off over there once they get used to it. From the Australian cases the best thing they can do is not make a fuss, not talk to the media, and pay the bribes as requested.

Here's a twist:

Police also allege that after the killing, the couple had sex in the room of the five star St Regis Resort and at their new hotel.

Police sources have told News Corpoeration that Heather Mack was today taken to the obstetrics and gynaecology section of the police hospital for tests after telling police she is pregnant.
It is not known who the father is.

How'd they discover so quickly she was pregnant? How long has it been since the killing???

She got examined and pregnancy tested, but it hasn't been officially confirmed as truth yet, as far as I know.

I'm very curious to find out if it was a lie.

Hypothetical ... if one were diagnosed in the USA with an ectopic pregnancy, could one then postpone any treatment, safely and comfortably (without pain) go on a vacation half way around the world, and return safely to have the necessary procedure or would all of that be highly unlikely and treatment would typically be done fairly soon after diagnosis? TIA

Note: I'm not believing HM's pregnancy malarkey - I suspect it's just a stall tactic

An ectopic pregnancy is considered a medical emergency. When my sister had one, she was sent straight to the hospital from her doctor's office and was in surgery within a couple of hours. Without surgery the tube can burst and the woman could die.

I can't imagine any doctor recommending an overseas flight (lengthy) with an ectopic pregnancy. What if you needed emergency surgery?

Foreign lawyers may not practice as litigators, and so, may be consultants only.

There are no rules allowing temporary practice by foreign lawyers.

A foreign lawyer can obtain a licence entitling him/her to offer advisory services, but must be sponsored and employed by a local law firm.

A foreign lawyer cannot obtain a full licence to practise law in Indonesia. Lawyers must be Indonesian citizens and residing in Indonesia.

In Indonesia: local lawyers may not be employed by a foreign lawyer or foreign firm.

I'm still wrapping my head around the FBI getting involved. I'm wondering how the Indonesian govt will respond to that? And as others asked, is that usual or just because a wealthy woman died?

Yes, it is really hard to believe, isn't it? The Indonesians do not generally let anyone else be involved in their investigations and legal process - goodness knows, we have tried and tried where our people are involved, and we have a relationship and proximity with Indonesia.

Are we sure it is true? The only source I can find so far, from this area, is the Daily Mail.

Maybe it is true .. and the US are allowed to verify that their citizens are involved in a murder .. but that is the only thing that they can do.

I think we may have been allowed to view the proof in the case of the Bali Nine .. and we certainly were able to view many photos of the bag of pot in Schapelle Corby's case.

The exact role the FBI agents will be allowed to play in the investigation - as Miss Mack and her boyfriend remained behind bars as suspects - will be a secondary one to Indonesian police.

Under FBI 'rules' agents to not have the authority to make arrests in foreign countries, except in certain cases where they have the consent of that country’s government or police.

In the current case, police sources said, it is virtually certain that if Ms Mack and her boyfriend, who are facing murder charges, are found guilty they could face death by firing squad.

Senior police are understood to have told the FBI team that while neither Ms Mack nor Mr Schaefer have provided a motive for the killing they believe there are one of two reasons - or both.

As part of the FBI’s involvement, while giving way to the local police investigation, the US officers are expected to be taken to the St Regis Hotel and shown room 616 where Mrs Mack’s blood has been found.

"... During initial questioning Wednesday, [HM] acknowledged her mother died, but refused to disclose how, according to ... an Indonesian lawyer assigned by police to accompany the couple.

[The lawyer] said Mack and her mother arrived in Bali on Aug. 4, and stayed first at Simanyak Hotel before moving to the St. Regis on Aug. 9.

"When asked why they left the hotel and moved to Kuta, [HM] did not respond," [the lawyer] said. ..."

My God.
To beat your mother to death, even whilst she fought back to the point of her fingers being broken, then stuffing her halved clothed body into a suitcase, leaving Mum's body in a taxi and running off to new hotel for a snooze with boyfriend who appears to have been involved with it all?
86 domestic disturbance calls to the family home over the last 10 years? That would mean that this girl was only 9 years old at the time that those 911 calls started.

This may sound mean. But I'm glad this happened in Bali, and NOT the USA.

re: security box at St. Regis

So just HM's passport was most likely secured in that box, but not TS' as well??? Right?

If so, TS could have caught a flight off of Bali but chose not to?

Absolutely not! My ectopic pregnancy caused my left fallopian tube to rupture, internal bleeding and emergency surgery in less than 24 hours after diagnosis.

Heather is a lying liar who lies.

I'm not familiar with Bali law procedures. What is next?
