I'm reading in comments to the Oak park article that TS had a history of assaults. Has anyone checked his criminal record?

Snipping bits from the article.
"Schaefer had written a song for Smylie and was selling it on iTunes and giving the money to charity, the ex-girlfriend said."

"She said Schaefer was not having money problems to her knowledge and she never saw any violent tendencies in him."

"He was just in Chicago working on his music; he said he worked all the time," she said. "He actually told me that he wanted to change the world."

I think he put on that he was making money probably from his music, but I just doubt he was making a comfortable amount on gigs and cd sales, or even selling his escort services. Heather seemed to have money and we have no idea what she was telling him all along. She's probably going to pin this all on him.

Why'd he get so involved that he now can be pinned with the murder of her mother?
What was Heather promising him or telling him?

Did he know when he and Heather used her mother's credit card to stay at that fancy hotel last month that he was entering into something illegal? Did he know they did not have permission to use that credit card? She could've told him she always got to use her Mom's credit cards? She had used them before without permission. He shows up in Bali and is seen taking the mother's dead body out in a suitcase! Who really killed the mother though?

Who is this TS posting his sadness about the death of Robin Williams on his fb, and then carrying around a bloody suitcase soon after?

So, the FBI agent witnessed the handover of Sheila's body yesterday afternoon (our time) and she apparently left Bali early this morning on a Korean Air flight .. it is Wednesday morning now in this region.

When I looked up flights out of Denpasar to the US by Korean Air, the flight would have left at 1:20am (it is a regular flight) .. if Sheila is being returned to Chicago, she will arrive there at 10:35am on Wednesday (US time).

Von Wiese-Mack's body was to be flown home early Wednesday on a Korean Air flight, said Ida Bagus Putu Alit, head of forensics at Sanglah Hospital in Denpasar.

An FBI agent who arrived in Bali on Friday and investigated possible criminal activity by the couple in the United States saw the handover of von Wiese-Mack's body on Tuesday afternoon, Alit said.

Charges were laid after the Conrad hotel wild party/incident, weren't they? So he would have faced court time for the abuse of the attending police etc, at the very least. Was he a tad angry about that? If he had previous offences, perhaps he faced jail time?

And did HM face any charges/consequences for the theft and use of her mother's credit card? I think they ran up a bit of a tab there, possibly there was damage to the "wild" party hotel room also.

Makes me wonder if the plan to hurt Sheila initially hatched from anger at the possible consequences of the unauthorised "wild" party ... and just evolved into murder from there, due to the possibility of freeing up a trust fund.

From that article IMO, scenario:
Heather wants to stay with TS in his room – Sheila says no – HM assaults and kills mother then phones TS to come help. The rest we can get from the article…
I’d suggest that the wake-up call made at 6:45am from Room 317 was logged as Sheila because the room was registered in her name, whereas the call was placed by Heather after she and TS had cleaned up – Sheila’s body was down in room 616 by then.

And the duct tape? IMO - journalistic licence…

What I’d like confirmation of from LE, is the report of Sheila in the lobby at 3:45am.

Who knows for sure that the mother knew the boyfriend was going to show up on this trip? Yes, she eventually figured out she had, tricked perhaps, paid for his plane ticket, but it seems like suddenly he was there and needed a hotel room and got one on a different floor. The arguments were over paying for his room, so I'm get the feeling Mother resented him showing up, almost like it was a surprise to her.

My thoughts today are questioning whether TS the boyfriend knew he was entering into a criminal situation when he said he might not come back to the U.S. Could all these tidbits be seen from other angles? Perhaps he actually thought he was going there to smooth things over with the mother and discuss the coming baby. I want to know if he knew what was going to happen in Bali on his trip before he ended up lugging that bloody suitcase up the stairs.

(BTW, it's pitiful that he actually lugged the suitcase up an extra flight of stairs by mistake!)

Here is what I'd like to know, where did they get the duct tape? Did they bring it with them, did they buy it there? It seems odd to bring duct tape on vacation, IMO.

The question I'm having is if TS entered into a premeditated plan with HM to kill her mother. I actually think she might have been the one who killed her. Still arguing in the same room HM goes berserk on her mother again, and this time actually kills her in a rage, or maybe that was HM's plan all along, and then calls TS to help her dispose of the body. Was TS set-up by HM or did he know full well what was going to happen on his Bali trip?

There has got to be something more than a FB post saying TS may not be backkkk from his Indonesian trip (and how right he was!!) for the Bali police to think they may have enough for premeditated murder.

Indonesian police have indicated they believe there is enough evidence to charge them with premeditated murder.

Colonel Djoko Hari Utomo, the chief of police in Denpasar, where the couple is being held, confirmed to the Associated Press that the couple had refused to talk to Indonesian investigators without their US lawyers.

“But that does not hamper our investigation. We have enough evidence, including CCTV and fingerprints. I am inclined to charge them with premeditated murder,” he said.

Not sure Sheila filed charges against him or Heather for using her credit card. It seems he was only charged with a misdemeanor for his own poor conduct.

Taken from Quester's timeline Post #451:
Wed, 7/23/14 SWM reported to police that her credit card was being used ... without her permission at the Conrad Hotel in Chicago. When police arrived at the tony downtown hotel, they discovered HM and her boyfriend, TS, had used the card to book a room and ring up nearly $1,000 in charges. TS, 21 yo and 6' 3", was arrested for misdemeanor disorderly conduct after acting unruly during the police response. The Oak Park native was scheduled to appear in court [sometime in the later half of Aug]. [?No other charges filed by SWM/hotel/LE?]

(I'm not sure where look for reports on duct tape being used or if it was actually reported or seen in any photos. Are we assuming there's always duct tape?)

Woman found dead in Bali got $840,000 in a cruise line settlement

Woman found dead in Bali got $840,000 in a cruise line settlement
http://www.suntimes.com/29354459-76...in-a-cruise-line-settlement.html#.U_Pqt8J0wyE

"Sheila von Wiese-Mack immediately netted $340,667 after legal fees for her share of the settlement, according to court records."

"But another $500,000 went to James Mack’s estate."

"James Mack signed his will five days before his death, records show. And in it, he said it was intended “only to provide for Heather Mack, my child, and for no other children.” At the time, Mack was age 10."

"But in June 2011, a judge authorized von Wiese-Mack, the executor of her husband’s estate, to pay herself the remaining $500,000 as the estate’s “sole beneficiary.”

What about the heavy glass vase? Where did that come from?

I can see a heavy ashtray perhaps being in the hotel room - a lot of smokers in Indonesia - but the vase could have come from a manned area of the hotel, like the lobby. And CCTV may show that. It is unusual for hotels to have loose decorative items in their rooms, due to people taking them for souvenirs and the replacement cost to the hotel.

ETA: Just looked at the St Regis photo gallery ... they do have glass vases and ashtrays in their rooms ... so that negates that 'premeditated' idea.

Duct tape is readily available in Bali/Indonesia ...

PT. Okamoto Indonesia is one of the biggest manufacturer & exporter of adhesive tape in all over the world .... We produce Cloth Tape, Duct Tape, Kraft Tape, OPP Tape, etc.

http://pt-okamoto-indonesia.imexbb.com/

And has been used in crimes there before.

Toni Hidayat, 39, suffocated 67-year-old Setsuko Itawa with duct tape at her Jakarta home on Sunday, East Jakarta Police chief Saidal Mursalin said on Tuesday.

http://www.thebalitimes.com/2012/06/05/suspected-duct-tape-murderer-arrested/

A police report says officers then searched a villa, where they seized six tablets of hashish, seven tablets of MDMA, electronic scales, duct tape and wrapping plastic.

bbm: I am sure she had good reason for that with all of the extra expenses incurred for legal fees, counselling etc -- glad she got control of it --

My heart hurts so much for Sheila. Returning home...not the way she expected. She should be flying home, alive.

There was a report that she paid for his flight and argued with him and her daughter because she felt she shouldn't also have to pay for his hotel.

But does that mean that she knowingly paid for his flight ... or that she discovered she paid for his flight after he arrived?

HM seemed to have no issue with putting unauthorised purchases on her mum's credit card.

True, and include the doctor bills for broken bones caused by Heather beating up on her own mother. However, there may have been resentment that Sheila took control of money left for Heather. I imagine Heather was aware her trust fund shifted ownership.

I bet Heather felt entitled to that money. She may have felt her mother stole the money that the father left for her and she had to testify in that law suit from what I read in another article.

All said and done, there wasn't all that much money or wealth, not really rich, IMO.
