Is it at all possible his attorney is encouraging this behavior?
I do wonder how those conversations are going. Someone in DM's life (have we heard ANYTHING about whether he has any 'friends' or family there, by the way? anyone smiling BACK at him?) or on his legal team has to be telling him he's coming across as a scary creeper. My gut instinct is he has been told and does not care.
For context, I'm a person who watched a bit of the Jodi Arias trials and wasn't quite sure where some of the commentary came from, meaning, people seemed to become infuriated by what seemed to me like minor behaviors of JA in court. If she looked down, people got mad, if she looked up, people got mad, if she cried people got mad, if she didn't cry, people got mad. Etc. I understand why people hate her, but I didn't get the outrage at every single move she made in court.
And even when DM was first described as grinning a lot, I wasn't that troubled--just sounded like more of the jackass behavior he's already displayed.
But hearing that he stared down Sharlene and grinned at her all the way as she crossed the room? Sorry, buddy, you just lost any claim to membership in humanity you might have had left.
Reminds me of the way Polly Klaas's killer behaved in court, and if you don't already know what I'm talking about, do yourself a favor and sleep better tonight by not looking it up.
