Wow- Pillay is relentless on his cross examinations! Riveting. OK, so now DM's defence has confirmed that DM took a satchel out of his desk and put it on right in front of LE. Why would the defence serve this up- doesn't look like the crown addressed it. MOO

I think RP should worry less about DM's man-purse and perhaps buy his client a shovel.

My thoughts then and now regarding the size of the computer seizure is just that DM was a rich kid and a video gamer who had a lot of toys. Not that it implied a huge crime ring.

Rich kid with toys outweighs child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 rings in terms of computer evidence size? IMO it's more than that.

ETA: 100% NOT saying DM was involved in child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 - just an example of a presumably larger computer seizure than a kid who plays on Steam (which, fwiw, just because he played on the 6th or w/e, doesn't mean it was him. It's an online system, so you can loan your login info to someone else - my husband does this with his little bro)

They are trying to establish that DM wasn't trying to be shady or hide anything. They are neglecting to realize that he was hiding the big important stuff. ;)

I don't think it is. But LE probably thought that it would be considering what they came upon in the hangar. They probably thought they were dealing with a huge vehicle theft ring. Appears that maybe they weren't. At least I heard nothing about that in the opening statement. But they had to check all the electronics to be sure.

My theory is that they were referring to it being a record number of devices owned by *one individual*.

But I'm going on the same info as everyone else, which was never much.

Where was the truck at this point? Didn't an employee see it at the hanger not too long before LE went there? Or had it been put in the trailer by this time?

I remember talking with friends when the arrests first happened that knew people investigating the case. That this case is messed up with a lot of twists and turns.

I imagine computers seized isn't limited to just computes. Cell phones, iPads, tablets, smart phones, desk tops, laptops, hardware and IT infrastructure. Not just from the accused. Witnesses and other people the contacted. Which in turn probably led to the other charges for LB and WM.

Millard's defence is questioning Det. Hamilton about other man in MillardAir hanger. @CHCHNews "an old white male"

Who was the "old white male" in the hangar with DM that day? His accountant I suppose.

The truck and trailer had just been dropped off in MB's driveway either one or two nights before. I can never get that straight.

Yo... Hey detective Hamilton...long time no see. :D

I REALLY wish his last name was Hamilton...I was getting confused trying to follow along. Det. Hamilton from Hamilton. :D

Waving at cops smiling at people. It's all a big joke to him. I guess he thinks it's kangaroo court

I get this creepy feeling he knows he is guilty and pleaded not guilty just to have the family and friend of Bosma have to suffer in hearing the details.

If there is one thing that is coming out of this trial is how much data there truly is about each and every one of us. Every single move we make is recorded as it relates to where we travel. If that phone is on, they can follow our movements. Not a big deal for law-abiding people but still...our interpretation of privacy is not quite what it used to be. The police world must love the new smartphone generation..."Where were you on the night of the 6th?" now becomes "Why was your phone in Ancaster on the night of the 6th?"

Thanks for the morning tweets. 7 witnesses today? Glad it's clipping along so quickly. If this was the Jodi Arias trial, it would take 3 months to go through 7 witnesses.

Ditto. The notoriety.

I get the feeling he will be stupid enough to take the stand in his defense too.

I'm also curious who this was:

Hamilton went to Waterloo to interview Dennis Araujo.

Don't forget he's going to be his own lawyer in the murder of LB.

Millard also noted he is having trouble getting access to the disclosure material he needs for the Babcock case.

Justice John McMahon strongly advised Millard more than once to get a lawyer. Although he made clear that the decision was ultimately Millard’s, he said: “I haven’t seen a lot of first degree murder charges” where self-represented defendants succeed.

“I do think it’s in your best interests to get a lawyer.”

This is the only one of the three trials where Millard has decided to go it alone. He will be represented by Toronto lawyer Ravin Pillay at the Bosma trial. Hamilton lawyer Peter Boushy acted as his counsel at the preliminary hearing for his father’s murder.

“I have an issue at the Hamilton jail with getting access to the disclosure on Laura Babcock material,” Millard said, adding that he is unable to view the CDs and DVDs provided by the prosecution.

Meanwhile, Ted Bundy used his library access (granted because he was representing himself) as a means of one of his prison escapes.
