A 28-year-old man remained jailed Monday under suspicion he tried to kidnap a 20-year-old Reno woman over the weekend who had been walking home alone late at night.

It would be great if he were one of the two we are looking for in these cases! I don't see him matching much of the physical description from victim #2 (and no way he dyed his hair from light brown/blonde). However, he does drive a taller type vehicle, have a long face, facial hair, and the timing of the attack is curious. Late on a Saturday night, the 20 yo female walking alone (stupid girl #2), and the location of it just being in Reno even if it is not near the other abductions or attacks.

I am glad the van pulled up and they got this 's license plate number!! Great catch!! He needs to be in jail no matter what! (If he isn't associated with the other cases, he must be an absolute idiot to try to pull off an abduction there right now.)

With brown hair there may be a likeness...but LE thinks its not the same guy.

I wonder what the description of the 20 yr woman victim is?

I could go either way on this guy. The description from Victim #2 doesn't match up exactly, but there are certain points of interest for me. His vehicle, his facial hair, long face, timing of the event, age of the woman, and a couple of other things.

Has anyone been able to find his arrest record online yet? I would like to know his stats.

I remember how wrong I was thinking Stiles was of Latin descent! Anyway, this is just for the heck of it.

Taxi, in the sketch his eyes are more narrow. His face is same length but appears thinner in sketch. I hope the December vic can identify him in a lineup!

I checked out Washoe County court records and Garrett Subia doesn't have a criminal record, but he does have several civil court records.

He was sued by the State of Nevada - case #CV97-02109 on April 4, 1997. He was listed as an obligator

Case #PRCV98-02966 dated May 8, 1998 he was listed as a parent in a guardianship case. Persons involved in this case are as follows:

Christian F. Wells - minor/ward
Mahria K. Wells - minor/ward
Darla Kay Wells - guardian
Wendy Lynn Easter - parent
Wesley F. Ford - parent
Garrett Subia - parent

(I don't know why there's three parents listed)

The two (then) minor children petition the court to end guardianship on December 3, 2007. The case was heard on January 8, 2008.

This guy looks quite a bit heavier. The shadowing of the cheeks on the sketch indicate a thinner face, imo. (Of course, he could have put on weight) The hair doesn't seem to be even close. I just don't see it personally. (I hope I am totally wrong and it is one of the two creeps they are looking for tho!!)

Oh, that is very interesting, Leila!! Adds another element. If this guy was involved in a custody dispute over his children...the dates mentioned would be within a couple of weeks of the two attacks. (We discussed earlier how rapes can coincide with events in the life of the perp where he loses control or causes rage etc.)

He would have only been 18 in 1997 tho. I don't know if this makes any sense since the children petitioned to have the guardianship removed.

I would agree that it is not a major setback. It is a credibility hit. This guy does not need to me the PR guy.

I think it is best to explain what happened and go on. No other comment needed.

They have been so tight lipped so far, and then to come out and say this.
There is something going on IMO.

Did the cops check out this guy and compare what the assault victims said about him?
At least one of the ladies said, no smell....
no body odor
no soap odor
no aftershave
no laundry softner smell
nothing
Did the cops check these things out?
They may sound silly but may be something that ties the right guy to the crime.

From what I've been able to determine from reading a summary of the details of the case I cited above, it appears that Wendy Easter is the mother of two children - Christian Wells, and Mahria Wells. The father is listed as Wesley F. Ford. Yet, Garrett Subia is also listed as a parent, so I think he may be the biological father of one of the two minor children. The grandmother is Darla K. Wells and she was granted guardianship. There are criminal cases against both Wendy Easter and Wesley Ford, for drugs.

The two minor children (in 1998) petitioned the court to end guardianship on December 3, 2007. The case was heard on Jan. 8, 2008 and a decision is pending.

I really, really hope that you're right. LE was "misinformed" about the DNA results .Oh, wait, pick me , I"ll believe anything.Oily substance? I'll go for that one too!

I keep thinking that since I"m naive about homicide/rape investigation, and that the F.B.I. is possibly still helping in their own way that there must be some serious psychological warfare going on between LE and the perp and JohnQ.Publics expense.

I am still giving LE the benefit of the doubt(like they care), but the bottom line is, with all of the "tactics",and withheld information, the guy is apparently still out there.

My brain hurts, so I must drink coffee and go to work now. I'll try to think of an optimistic "feel good" post for next time.
