'She said she asked for a doctor, but the doctor wasn’t speaking English and they couldn’t understand each other.'

why couldnt the hot shot lawyer interpret for her ? plus you don't need much dialogue to do a pregnancy test.

The doctor could have used a translation app oh his or her phone.

That is not the picture this lawyer wants to paint. She wants us to think of poor naive Bella coerced by a her one true love into carrying cannabis which she thought was legal in Georgia . Now dear, sweet nurse to be is being cruelly treated in a freezing cell ,denied medical treatment and food. What needs to be done to save poor Bella is to send her home to the U.K.

Remember this? Seems the lawyer likes to get the violins out

Honestly,
I treat this particular item of news
(the defendant not able to communicate with a doctor)
with a pinch,
oh wait!
a TONNE of salt 🙄

Let's be serious,
we are talking about educated professionals.

Besides,
- Didn't British embassy announce help?
Like providing an interpreter?

- Didn't the Court order to check if she is pregnant or not?

C'mon!

So very predictable that she had a miscarriage after announcing her pregnancy when arrested !!

He added that she has been remanded in custody for three months, during which time she suffered a miscarriage.

Mr Gatland added: 'She has spent three months in custody and that will certainly serve as a deterrent to her to keep out of trouble in future.'

KanKam-Adu was sentenced to 12 months suspended for 18 months.
She miscarried in custody. IMO a ridiculously low sentence.

Or was not pregnant in the first place !!
It was a farcical sentence. I would be very surprised if she does not reoffend.

Hey folks,

Please stop the disparaging insinuations about family members. There is no known fact to support such negative speculation and it is NOT victim friendly.

Thank you.

The youngster, who is being held in Georgia on allegations of drug trafficking, communicated her plight to solicitor Mariam Kublashvili, who disclosed information to journalists this past Monday.

She stated: "She is pregnant and needs medical care which she complained she wasn't getting – there were no tests or checks or medical examinations done, she told me. She said she asked for a doctor, but the doctor wasn't speaking English and they couldn't understand each other."

“She asked me for tuna fish which I thought was odd and might have been something to do with pregnancy cravings - but I found out later fish cannot be sent in.
Bella May was arrested as she arrived in Tbilisi airport

“She told me no tests, checks or medical examinations have been done.

“She said she asked for a doctor, but the doctor wasn’t speaking English and they couldn’t understand each other.”

Ms Kublashvili added: “She doesn’t fit the profile of a drug trafficker at all. For anyone, like me, with experience in dealing with such cases, it would be quite obvious that she is a victim here - she’s been used and manipulated.”

Hang on, this is all IMO, she's not happy with the medical care because they don't speak English while in another country. She doesn't like the food she is being served in jail ( who does). You can only eat small amounts of tuna while pregnant however this isn't a restaurant. This woman is in for it. Her previous life style is over. IMO

Amongst others, we dont know what happened to Bella during her initially disappeared days. No doubt some colourful stories will emerge

Cannot link on my phone but if you Google cannabis Thailand there is a UK govt report on how they have managed to reduce cannabis trafficking by 90% thro joint collaboration.
Joint collaboration ....

They should re-run Bangkok Hilton as a deterrent for these girls. Scared the living daylights out of me, watched my luggage like a hawk ever since!

IMO she fits the profile of a drug trafficker perfectly. Young, stupid, greedy, able to afford worldwide travel at 18. JMO

What would be a normal deposit?
One to two months' rent. The cheapest rental is going to be £1,500 per month, and most are going to be over £2,000 or £2,500.

I think what would help is for passports to be automatically flagged for young women, say under the age of 25 or 30, travelling to or through specific countries known to be sources of drug smuggling. Obviously the vast majority of such women will be entirely innocent but the data might help to identify specific travel patterns that are deemed to be high risk and worth monitoring.

Booking an international flight already requires providing passport details, which in turn include/provide personal data such as sex and age so the means to flag certain types of travellers may be fairly straight forward.

One of the articles stated she had been in care so there is a high likelihood of her being in council housing /housing association accommodation so cheaper rent than private . I am not sure how much deposit is needed for council property.

Smuggling for £250.00 is ridiculous. She could get that with a few shop lifting sessions.
