OMG- our regional center has been a source of direction and support for my family and my son with Down syndrome. I am so sad for these innocent people- they do the best job they can under terrible circumstances- large case loads, high turn over and low pay. Praying for the victims and their loved ones. At anytime that office could be filled with children, young people and adults who are special or disabled- I am sick.

My 3 are sick.
When I think of kids like ours being confronted with this situation...
I don't know if it's better or worse that they might not comprehend the danger immediately.
Might be less scared but also have less chance of escape. :tears:

Every single one of my sons case workers over the years at Harbor Regional Center (he is 16- a junior in high school) have been young and often times with a disabled person in their own family. Good hearts with good intentions and ideals. We have been lucky. It is a sad world I will be leaving him to one day...

I wonder if these regional centers are a California thing? I don't think we have them in Utah.
Or maybe we do and I'm just clueless.
