CA CA - 4 (previously 6) individuals missing near Idyllwild, summer 2020

  • #81
I am curious to know if there were any missing people from the area around Idyllwild in the past year who WERE located, hikers and otherwise.
Here's a website that probably has the answer to your question. Caution-it's a rabbit hole:

(link corrected) California Missing Persons

Edited to add: Website for the State of California Department of Justice/CA Attorney General. Go to: Programs/ Missing Persons/ Statistics/ California Missing Adults/Reports/ Status by County for a PDF report.

This might be a long post as I try to piece together some info.
It's possible, I guess. Says it's a 1 hr. 39 min. drive. I wanted to read about this other missing woman, but your link doesn't work.

Thanks for reposting the link. I see why some might consider Erika Lloyd part of this mystery of missing people. Erika took off with $1,000. They found no camping gear in the damaged car. So strange. Erika has a thread here on the forum someone said.

What stood out to me was mention of the wedding business connection. I just wonder if she ever met or went to Dia's (wedding) ranch. For convenience, there's more about the ranch and a link to it (see article article below.)

@AntBird, do you know if it's only about an hour and a half drive from Joshua Tree to Idyllwild?

RE: Lydia “Dia” Abrams

"Eleven miles east of Idyllwild in Apple Canyon is the sprawling Bonita Vista Ranch, owned by former La Jolla resident and millionaire Lydia “Dia” Abrams."

"Abrams was reported missing from her ranch on June 7, according to a Riverside Sheriff’s spokesperson. Search teams spent two days on the ranch looking for the 66-year-old woman, but she remains missing."

"Dia Abrams is the widow of the late Clem Abrams, a successful La Jolla developer, who passed away in 2018."

Lydia was last seen heading in the direction of Garner Valley (on foot since she left her keys, purse and car at home?). Here's a map of the walk from her home on Apple Canyon Road to Garner Valley. Rosario's (presumed) drive would have taken her in the same direction down 74 towards Pinyon Pines/Saw Mill trailhead. Jade's last known destination is the Gastronome Restaurant which is approximately 10 miles northwest of Lydia's home.

It's so strange that Lydia was walking without taking a car or belongings. Some of these missing people seem to have decided going off rather suddenly. That's the loose connection that doesn't help much, I guess.

I've done the drive at night in around an hour/ hour and 15 minutes but yeah-- roughly and hour and a half.

JMO, I find this missing person's case really mysterious. I posted more about the circumstances of her disappearance above. She's been missing from her ranch a month now.

That Lydia was seen on foot "near" her ranch, doesn't mean that she didn't go back onto her ranch later. I wonder who saw her, and in which direction she was walking.
I'd also think if it was a local who saw her and knew her, or of her, they would have stopped if she appeared distressed at all.
Still concerned by people who may have been working on her ranch, maybe somebody temporary, or not, or somebody who had been to her ranch previously.
No word that anything was stolen I presume?

It's true that Lydia could have gone back to her ranch. Maybe she came back and got on a horse for all I know, or like you say maybe some temp farmhand had nasty plans of some kind. Did someone have an interest in her money? Was it some rapist or a deranged killer? Is there a family member wanting her gone for insurance or an inheritance? As I ask all this, I'm praying there's a good Private Detective working on this case too.

Leaving without a car, or any of her "going someplace gear" like her purse and keys means to me that she didn't expect to go far. No mention whether her cell phone was left at the ranch.

The map @AntBird posted is helpful, but doesn't show mileage or where Lydia was on this "witnessed walk". How do they know where she was actually headed? Plus, as you asked, who was the witness?

Her ranch is on 116 acres. That's a lot of property to search.
I hope they used some dogs in their search. LE has not found her.
She's still missing.

Lydia Abrams was supposed to get married. I wonder if someone didn't want that to happen?

Thank You for all the links. Unfortunately, I only got a very short news article at the link above. Lydia was suppose to get married?!! I had not heard that on any news reports. I wanted to see it in print. Who was she going to marry? Has that person made any statements to the media?

Sorry to have to ask, but-- Can you post a news quote about her future marriage with the link here?

Wait, did I miss out on a deal???
I know I'm tired and have a touch of Covid isolation fog-brain, but I looked at the sales history on this property, and I don't understand. How come it sold for so much less and in June of this year?

I hear you on the COVID fog-brain........;)
I am trying to figure this out myself.

Per the Riverside County Assessor it looks like there are 3 residential buildings: 1 house built in 1945, 1 house built in 1960, and 1 garage on the 35 acre section of the property.
Riverside County Assessor - County Clerk - Recorder > Property Search > Valuation

According to Realtor.com, the one sold was built in 1945, & has 2.5 baths. That would be building 1.
I don't know who it was sold to, why it was sold, etc. But it isn't that the entire ranch was sold, just 1 building. Assuming realtor.com is accurate........

There are other buildings on the rest of the acreage which I guess is considered commercial (?). Some buildings (? 2) appear to be used for Air BNB rentals per that link above from May. And then there's the wedding business.

I haven't seen a map of the ranch to know what is located where.
