Can't it have gone down nose first and then hit the ground tail first? Maybe both accounts are correct. It definitely only went down 15', I was standing there.

If it went down nose first slightly toward its side, when it rolled it could have come down hitting the back, which also explains why very little damage was done to brush. It likely only rolled twice (once coming off the site, and then once when the impact happened).

ETA: The second roll being, it hit the ground on its tail and then rolled to the side, it's final resting spot.

This is true. (About the nose / tail)

When you say definitely 15' - is that from the cell tower to the "ditch / ravine" or 15' for the cliff-like drop off from the hill to Main Ramp Rd?

This is awesome! I wish I had the time and money to fly out and join you. I would love to search for tracks at the lake as on some occasions I can still find and follow very old tracks. In the mean time, I will be hanging on your every report! :)

Maybe you can help virtually? Give us an idea based on your expertise what we should do, how we should look at it etc?

Spoke to dragracerz who has given me permission to setup a search team to go to Buttonwillow and retrace his steps and do a little investigation down there and see if we find anything.

Any locals interested? (Im in Canyon Country)

I'm about 1 1/2 to 2 hours from you, however, I would love to go and see what we can come up with. I'm a stay at home mom so my schedule is pretty open. Let me know when you're thinking of going.

Also, it had to be pretty accurate anyway. How else would they have located him the first time with the ping if it wasn't accurate? Dragz told us the ping's are to the nearest location, or known address, when we asked about Buttonwillow, I assume the same would apply to the ping.

When I use Sprint Family Locator, the same applies. It goes by the nearest address it can find. If it can't find an address, it shows you a parameter of a mile around the nearest address it pings off. This has happened even when I have the GPS feature (also known as "location" on some phones) completely turned off. Therefore, it is to my belief and understanding that now a days phones are able to be tracked much easier than you think.

Find my Iphone is a big one, Sprint Family Locator, Verizon Child Tracker, etc. There's also tons of app's that also do this.

I think standard pings usually do show a larger area than if you use the GPS on the phone but I have a feeling Bryce didn't know exactly how accurately his mom was able to track him down, just that she was able to do it through his phone.

Out here we don't have a clean up crew. Usually the tow truck companies do this. I've been to multiple accident scenes in this area and it's always the tow truck drivers cleaning it up. So I'm not so sure it was swept up, it may have just looked like that.

Gator-I didn't see anything about permission for searching...? What were you referring to?

you posted that you got permission from drag to do the searching I thought?

I guess both since it is to MR Rd, but it's not a "cliff" that's why it's being referred to as a ditch. The area right next to the road, toward the cell tower, is what they are referring to as a ravine/ditch. In the one picture where you see a small drop off (15 ft) that's exactly what he dropped from. Which is why we were confused from the beginning as to why would he do that purposely?? He couldn't possibly have thought he would have that significant of damage from such a small drop.

TY, it was a WS group effort!

Thanks for bringing your theories to WS!!! Today is the first day I've felt some sense of a weight lifted that this young man might still be alive despite the length of time and odds in these type of cases.

Please continue to fill us in! Thx

Now, let's hope BL can be located, hugged and then his hide tanned!!! JMO

At least I finally figured out where to find the timeline - duh! Thank you.

http://sheriff.lacounty.gov/wps/por...low+vehicle+found+near+castaic+lake++lasd+scv

5:30AM Friday, August 30, 2013, a 9-1-1 call was made by a person who reported a vehicle accident on the Castaic Lake Main Ramp Road. The official sunrise was 6.37 am. If the SUV was not on the road, how would it be seen in the dark that early in the morning?

I DO believe the SUV landed on the road, that is what I was stating. The photo of the debris on the dirt that was posted was on the road, not farther up the ravine slope. (Unless the debris wasn't from Bryce's car or landed there when the car was being removed from the scene.)

Please see above, I responded to you after I realized what you meant via Voice4.

why couldn't Bryce's vehicle have hit nose first and still had the back window blow out? an impact with that weight behind it seems like it would be possible for the impact to have blown out the back window, sans direct contact with anything, no?

Not sure it helps us find Bryce to talk about how or where the truck landed, but all of this talk gives us something to do to feel like we are helping from this distance. And yes, I realize that everything leading up to Bryce's missing status must be considered - just not sure we will ever know with certainty how this accident happened.

I think you guys are confusing my theory with Riverkings. I was just verifying that he was really a local, not that his theory was correct. I understood what he meant, and thought it was plausible, but that's because we saw the scene after the debris was picked up. Now that the newest picture was shown from that video, it's obvious this could not be the case.

However, it was not on the road. It was in the dirt next to the road. (I'm sure you know this, but just clarifying for others).

The tail lights were broken out as well, this couldn't happen just from the impact from the front. Also, if it did happen that way, the glass would be inside the car, and it's outside the car.

I know exactly what you mean! Sometimes even if I know what I am talking about wont do a darn thing, knowing that we are talking about it gives me a sense of relief, knowing that we are trying to do something, and that he isn't being forgotten.

It couldn't have hit nose first completely & not had the airbags go off.

IMO whether it landed just 15' below the cell tower or all the way down on Main Ramp Rd is significant in what happened next & Bryce's possible intentions / state of mind.

If it stopped close to the cell tower, did he climb much further down the hill towards the lake, instead of going 15' back up to Lake Hughes Rd? Or did he climb up & walk down LH Rd & then turn right going down MR Rd to the lake?

I understand you were clarifying Riverkings posts and not stating that his theory is correct or not.

Since I wasn't there either I don't have a clue as to what happened, I can just speak to the photos that I saw of the debris on the dirt directly next to the road (not up the slope of the ravine but on the immediate shoulder of the asphalt road.)

Thanks for clarifying, Amanda! :tyou:

The ravine is way too steep for him to have climbed up. I don't see that as being possible. Even if he was standing on the top of the side of his car, he still wouldn't be tall enough to do it.

I have find my IPhone. But all he had to do was remove the cell phone from the car, that doesn't involve crashing the car...

Yes, and then when they get there they find a phone and no Bryce or car, and know he obviously ditched it. If he was close with his parents, and felt the need to run away, I truly believe he wouldn't want them to know or be disappointed. It's just a theory for the "intentional accident" side, even though we all believe it was an accident, I think both options should be out there.

Hey I believe he's a local- he had me at 25+ years boating on Castaic...

Okay, well you didn't explain that well the first time- what I got from your original post was that he left the cell phone in the car, so by crashing it, they'd find the car when they pinged the phone.
