The thing is, if he looks and is perfectly fine, would people tend to think it must not be him, since they are indicating medical issues?
(I don't happen to believe he IS fine...but I guess they feel the lake area is "cleared".)
I have never known of one "medical needs" missing person who had a visible medical need. Not one. They have ALL been either medications needed, Alzheimer's, autism or other cognitive issue. I think we should focus not on what we think aligns with our theories or doing whatever we can to prove our own opinions correct, but look at ways to find this kid.
Sad to report that WS Missing Person
Nick Steward"s car was located last night and shortly thereafter his body was found in an adjoining wooded area. He had apparently slashed his extremities and his neck in a successful suicide. Tox screens will take 2 weeks and official coroners report is pending. He leaves behind a wife and one year old son, family, friends and those of us who as strangers brainstormed for 2 weeks trying to make sense of him vanishing into thin air.

Oh. That's terrible news, Smart.
I agree that amnesia seems unlikely. Not impossible, I suppose, and certainly one of the better options for his parents, but to me, not very realistic. I just can't believe he has not been found, if he is alive and not actually hiding. JMO
But again, I've cited about a dozen cases of people with dissasociative fugue or young people with some other issue who disappeared for weeks, seemingly with no resources, who survived and came home weeks, sometimes even months later, but who weren't found even though people were looking. Are you discounting that possibility based on stats? The odds of being able to stay missing even if obviously confused and without resources? Because I get that but we do have a huge homeless population on the west coast who help each other but who outsiders tend to shy from and we have also seen here, repeatedly, that lots of people still don't know Bryce is missing, including an officer!
As usual nothing about the DNA or laptop results. UNBELIEVABLE.
Please have LE make contact with the 10 local registered sex offenders.
I agree with Cat Fancier about the lake. Body of 19 year old McDaniel was found 150 feet down at Castaic Lake. They only searched 80 feet for Bryce

Well, that info does shatter some of my beliefs about the lake. The article states it is murky at the bottom so sonar was needed to find the body. Also, despite it being August when that person drowned, the body stayed below for four days.
However, it has been much longer than 4 days here. He would nO longer be at the bottom unless held down. And as you all know, I feel that is very unlikely. Not impossible, though.
Why is it in high profile cases. The results are back much quicker?

Even in the high profile cases in L.A., things go very slowly. Very. Los Angeles county is a mess.
I'm sorry, but I completely disagree. For my sons sake, I would not put 'mental illness' or 'schizophrenic' or 'diabetic' etc on a missing poster for him because frankly it is not something that he would want the entire nation to know! Not only that, but it would hope that some day he would be able to seek employment etc without a medical label following him around. I think the family should be very careful about what all is put out there for the public eye as this will not only follow him around for a life time, but could also embarrass him which would deter him from wanting to come home once he is better.
Bryce is young, he has his whole future ahead of him. I'd hate to see that future ruined because a few people think they have the right to know what his medical needs are. Jmo, moo
Excellent post. Thank you.
Do you know if it's common place for companies to release that kind of information without a subpena?
They wouldn't but since the card was in the parents' name, they don't need a subpoena. The company should be willing to provide the info upon request of the parents.
I think the best thing his family can do at this point is to hire a really good PI, if they haven't already.
That's smart advice. I wholeheartedly support LE but they do not have a good track record in these kinds of cases, in L.A. They are way too overburdened.
Bryce was not at a motel. When they pinged his phone, the closest address was a motel. Officers responding did not find him at a motel.
Thank you so much for clearing that up!
I understand that, and am onboard with those points, but what is the point ?
The way I see it is like this:
Even if he obtained drugs from a truck stop, motel, or somewhere else, would that really identify what happened, I think not, and here's why:
1. he could have obtained drugs, crashed, sustained a head injury and wandered off
2. he could have obtained drugs , had a plan to disappear, and disappeared
3. he could have obtained drugs, went to the lake and committed suicide
I know these 3 scenarios are all possible, but how does that help find Bryce or figure out what happened ? Am I missing something ?
Yes. Initially, people surmised that foul play could have occurred that originated in Buttonwillow. Some even wondered if Bryce ever made it to Castaic at all, thinking someone may have harmed him and dumped his vehicle.
I think some still wonder if he was a hostage or something, at the time h e called his mom in Castaic. So if he met up with people in Buttonwillow, those people hold the key to where Bryce could be. I do not share this theory, btw.
@ DRAGRACERZ:
I don't know whether you have seen Bryce's phone, or whether the police have discussed the contents with you, but is there any chance that there is an app called Tinder or Grindr on his phone?
Either of these apps could be a way that Bryce could have met people in Buttonwillow, Castaic, or anywhere else along the way. Something to explore...
I am happy to provide more info on what Tinder and Grindr are if you like.
We are not talking about a possible gay aspect on here and I guarantee LE knows about those and would have searched his phone for those or anything else.
