BBM: you think we've missed some scenarios?

on a serious note, i believe insight to his state of mind prior to him going missing would narrow down the search options. i.e. psychosis - search homeless shelters, hangouts; suicide - cadaver searches near crash site; voluntarily missing - gather more clues and search appropriately.

with volunteers dwindling, a more focused search might be productive.

i hope they really dig into his gaming forums/chat - i feel strongly he might have met someone in this venue and was communicating with them there.

my latest thought on *saved my soul* - Bryce was relieved when SD told him he was moving out in October. might have been his excuse for leaving school.

Well, there is one we haven't covered.... :ufo:

OK so you guys are not going to make fun of me for this!

I recently lost my cat and did tons of research on how to find him. Apparently they go into survival mode and forget everything until they go under 10% of there original body weight.

Anyway a lot of people said that they return to last place they were before they went into survival mode at night to look for food.

So I rigged up cameras all over my balcony and what do you know? Every night he was lurking onto the balcony looking for food without anyone knowing.

I know they say humans can go into survival mode, I wonder if it would be worth looking into if castaic will either daily check cameras or allow us to rig a similar system (mine has night vision) and see if after the injury he went into a similar survival mode. He's by so much fresh water that he certainly could survive out there off water and scraps from the picnic areas.

I know this sounds completely bizarre but I figured I'd put it out there and face the side eyes.

No side eyes here although my jaw is slightly slack. Your kitty is very lucky. :cat:

I had a kitty once who got a bit terrorized by her sister cat and went out a second story window while I was on vacation with the window open/screen on. I found here about 5 days after I suspect she fell in a bush about a block away, very frightened and extremely thin.

I do think that animals have a better system than people do though. I think some of those night fishermen, etc. would notice him scavenging around but it is possible.

I think by the family focusing on Bryce gone missing because of head injury or amnesia keeps people searching for Bryce in the hopes that he is still alive.

Maybe the family knows more than what is out in the media. They could have info he was suicidal and depressed but don't release it to the public for Bryce's privacy if he is still alive.

If the family let it out they thought he could be deceased due to suicide or head trauma, brain hemorrhage and collapsed while walking in the hot heat or passed out in the lake and drowned that day and no one around him to call paramedics until it was too late the searches and volunteers would most likely dwindle. And their could be a real possibility he is alive somewhere.

I think by the family focusing on Bryce having amnesia and is a medical missing person and sticking to that belief is a great strategy to keeping the searches going to find Bryce alive or deceased.

They don't seem to be getting any media attention with the amnesia...not sure what, if anything, would help.

A couple of updated visual maps. This scenario at the antenna site is very believable. Looking for a place to rest. Both ramp access roads closed. Up and down the road a couple of times, looking....Voila...Opening to antenna enclosure, nice quiet place to relax a bit. Great view, slightly obscured from the road. A lot of interesting options in every direction from the antenna site. Via road the boat ramp/dam area about one mile. Freeway is 2.5 miles.

Please excuse the interruption, but is this were Bryce pulled off and then the car was found below the cell site? I am trying to pin down where the vehicle was found?

Thank you

Haven't seen any MSM articles about upcoming Klaas led search? Hopefully some of the local, Castaic and surrounding area papers will publish something this week about the search so as to encourage locals to get out and search. Klaas group will need a good number of people for an effective search, I would think. JMO

I'm a lurker coming out of hiding ...

I've been reading for several days, although I didn't read the early threads so forgive me if this has been stated already.

There's been some discussion about his keys being taken away, by whom and that his mother told them to give them back. There's been a LOT of discussion about his mental status at that point.

I find it very odd that a girlfriend and/or roommate would take away someones keys unless they were threatening to harm themselves or someone else or if they were under the influence. I think the fact that he called his mother (I assume that's how she found out about them having his keys???) and she told them to give them back, tells a lot about his mental status. As a mother, albeit to an 18 month old son, I can see how your instincts to protect your child would kick in. If she knew something wasn't right and the fact that they took his keys was causing more stress to him (therefor possibly making him more "unstable" for lack of a better description), it's possible that she told them to give the keys back to reduce his "panic" (again for lack of a better word). She may have felt he would go back to his apartment and settle down and they could have a conversation. She offered to fly up there ... to me that's a mom that's worried about her child.

What's disturbing to me is the timeline ... if he had called and was freaking out about his keys being taken away, why was there no conversation between mom and son in the time he was driving (and yes, I know she was attempting to contact him, but from what I've gathered that wasn't until Thursday when she received the survey from AAA and realized he wasn't at school). If you were worried enough that you were offering to fly up there, why weren't they in contact on Wednesday? Or were they and I've just missed all that.

As to what happened to him ... I go back and forth on a lot of theories and a lot of that depends on the days leading up to it.

I fully respect the families privacy and a lot of this is none of our business. The fact is he's still out there, somewhere. However, knowing his "state of mind" might help determine where he's at.

I hope they find him soon. That family needs to know where their son is.

Yes & no. That's the cell tower he pulled off that road where your man is standing & drove behind the cell tower & down the hill to the road below - Main Ramp Rd. The gate to that road is locked at that hour.

Oh gosh! Your poor kitty!! As for the fisherman, I went there three different times now at night and have yet to see a sole out there! I know there is 24 hour fishing areas but I guess maybe its more for extremely early morning than late night?

My husband kept telling me it felt like the beginning of a horror flick out there :(. I was too focused to notice!

I don't think Bryce ever even camped, though. This guy was an experienced hunter, with equipment and a rifle.

Yes that's true. I just thought I would throw it out here anyway.

Bryce's keys were taken away on Wednesday night. Mom assumed he was heading back to his apartment when he left Chico. She was calling him from Thursday morning on and wasn't able to speak to him until the police made the wellness check on him by the truck stop in Buttonwillow Thursday night.
