San Francisco - In a surprise reveal Tuesday during its closing remarks to the jury, defense attorneys for accused killer Nima Momeni played surveillance video they say shows Cash App founder Bob Lee using a knife to snort cocaine hours before he was killed.



The defense says it's the same knife Lee used to confront Momeni over a bad joke in April 2023 and that Momeni fended off the attack in self-defense.

Maybe it's me, but NM's story keeps changing.

Again, I have to ask if this was self-defense why didn't NM call LE or 911?
Because it wasn't self-defense.

The jury is deliberating in the Bob Lee murder trial. Let’s talk about the options they may find. I will thread these tweets. There are 12 jurors & 4 alternates. There had been 5 but 1 replaced a sick juror yesterday. The 4 have been dismissed but remain on call. Pg.1





The verdict must be unanimous. Also jurors may not deliberate a lesser charge unless & until they unanimously agree Momeni is not guilty on the higher charge. That means they can’t find guilty on murder 2 unless unanimous not guilty on murder 1. Pg.2


Similarly jurors can’t consider voluntary or involuntary manslaughter unless they unanimously find Momeni not guilty of both 1st & 2nd degree murder. Jurors are not to use internet in deliberations. They can examine all exhibits. Pg.3


If they need to speak to judge it must be by written note via bailiff. Jurors may decide their own schedule. Today they’ve decided to break for lunch from 12-1. Whatever they decide must be communicated to bailiff. Pg.4

Momeni has been charged with first-degree murder, which carries a sentence of 26-years-to-life in prison. Jurors are also considering second-degree murder and manslaughter in the case.

The judge said whatever verdict the jury comes to must be unanimous.

The start of deliberations came a day after attorneys for Momeni wrapped up their closing argument with a surprise video clip they claimed showed Lee doing cocaine with the same knife used to kill him hours later.

In criminal cases, prosecutors get the final word. During their rebuttal, the prosecution told jurors the odds for so many coincidences to fall into place to make Momeni's story possible were like being struck by lightning 30 times.

They urged jurors to use common sense and return a guilty verdict. Their final words in court: "Do not let him get away with it."

I'm not understanding how they can claim it's the same knife that killed Bob Lee? Are there photos of said knives to compare to video? It's defense tactic... bs, apparently to cause reasonable doubt?

Jurors are smart, and will come back w/guilty. Not sure if it will be 2nd degree or manslaughter.

Other reporters and I viewed the video on the courtroom's projector screen, and we were not able to determine if the object was a knife, based off the video.

For those wondering how this will go … most reporters are camped out here. Sometimes reporters/family are given a 30 or so minute heads up that a verdict is coming, but no guarantees, especially if jury reaches a verdict late in the day. As a reminder, no deliberations Friday.

“The judge is maintaining the ship.” Questions here after jurors returned from lunch but not to deliberations. 11 of 12 jurors were out in hall. 12th possibly talking to judge. Defense attorneys came to court in casual clothes. Saam Zangeneh says a juror was not replaced.
