Forced entry into Garibay house being investigated

~snip~
Garibay was “held up” several months ago in the Natomas area of Sacramento and had her identification stolen, according to Chavez.

Yuba County Undersheriff Steve Durfor said he was unaware of the details of that incident. Detectives he spoke with also were not aware of it, he said.

Is there any way to know if she was actually held up several months ago or if maybe she could be a person that likes attention and disappeared on her own accord. Such as the RunAway Bride and others?

One of the articles reported that the "hold up" was money taken....not her ID or anything else. I don't quite recall all the details of the article but it sounded like it was not as first reported.

Well it is about time. Do we know if this girl had a boyfriend or ex-boyfriend?
I wish Nancy or Greta would get ahold of this story. Hopfully this girl will be found alive and well....soon.

Yes there is a boyfriend that's been interviewed....nothing about previous relationships or anything has been reported that I've read.

From the Appeal-Democrat....this just stood out:

Garibay was last seen Dec. 11 at 4:50 a.m. in the family's Maplehurst Street home. Family members agreed to meet Garibay at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marysville for a special service, but she never made it.

Investigators know Garibay was confronted by someone at 5:25 a.m., Black said, but she would not elaborate.

Missing Woman Found 3 Miles From Home

Jan 17, 2006

(CBS 13) YUBA COUNTY The body of missing Olivehurst woman Chairo Garibay has been found. The 20-year-old's body was found wrapped in plastic in a remote area of Yuba County.

According to the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office, 20-year-old Chairo was last seen at her home in the 1700 block of Maplehurst Street in Yuba County at 5:00 a.m. on December 11, 2005. She was supposed to meet her parents at church but never made it.

Deputies say that Chairo’s parents arrived home later to find the family vehicle missing, only to learn that the vehicle had been discovered only a half an hour earlier, submerged in the Bear River.

The body was discovered on Monday, January 16th. Local residents were driving their truck on a dir road adjacent to the Western Pacific Railroad tracks north of Plumas-Arboga Road when their truck became stuck in the mud. They called friends for assistance. When their friends arrived they discovered Garibay's body.

The cause of death has yet to be determined. An autopsy has been scheduled.

The Yuba County Sheriff's Department has confirmed a woman's body found yesterday is that of Chairo Garibay Ferreyra.

Local residents found the woman's body Monday afternoon after their truck got stuck in mud on a dirt road adjacent to the Western Pacific Railroad tracks north of Plumas-Arboga Road. That is about a half-mile from Garibay Ferreyra's home. The body was wrapped in a plastic tarp and had been weighted with concrete. It is believed to have been in water for some time.

Because it was near dark when the body was found, the decision was made to secure the scene and wait until today to recover the remains.

The Yuba County coroner is conducting an autopsy to determine how Garibay Ferreyra died.

The Yolo County coroner has determined the cause of death for Chairo Garibay, the missing Olivehurst woman whose body was found earlier this week.

An autopsy shows Garibay died from blunt force trauma to the head. The coroner says they confirmed the body was Garibay's by articles of clothing she was last seen wearing and by a surgical scar.

The 21-year-old's body was found on Monday wrapped in plastic in a remote area of Yuba County.Local residents were driving their truck on a dir road adjacent to the Western Pacific Railroad tracks north of Plumas-Arboga Road when their truck became stuck in the mud. They called friends for assistance. When their friends arrived they discovered Garibay's body.

According to the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office, 20-year-old Chairo was last seen at her home in the 1700 block of Maplehurst Street in Yuba County at 5:00 a.m. on December 11, 2005. She was supposed to meet her parents at church but never made it.

The body was wrapped in a tarp near the top of a drainage ditch.

Deputies and state Department of Justice investigators found concrete chunks wrapped inside the tarp to weigh it down, Yuba County Sheriff Virginia Black said Tuesday.

Investigators believe the body was placed deeper into the channel, but high water from recent storms, combined with the body's natural decaying process, brought the body to the surface, according to the Sheriff's Department.

The cold water and the tarp preserved the body remarkably well, Black said. But the Sheriff's Department doesn't know the time of death or where the body was put into the channel.

The Garibay family last saw her at 5 a.m. Dec. 11 before they departed the residence for an early church service at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Garibay planned to meet her family later at the church, but she never showed up.

According to the Sheriff's Department, Garibay was confronted at 5:25 a.m., but Black did not elaborate how that time was determined.

Someone went to a lot of trouble to hide her body. Hope they release a bit more info...the article goes on to say that fingerprints were obtained from the rear bedroom window but no one to match them to.
