Thank you...that is exactly true.

If that article got all twisted that's one thing.

She COULD have been there on Thursday and seen him right after it happened.

But trails were sealed to that area, even much earlier on Sunday. By the time I drove past at 1, it was obviously LONG sealed on the south side, including near the neighborhood. There were cops staking out all the entrances and searchers everywhere.

There's no way she had been there on Sunday to encounter him, nor could HE have been there on Sunday.

Cops and searchers were RIGHT there. I was watching them from the cul-de-sac at Monticook and Smokesignal.

I seriously think that this article got twisted into a sighting earlier (Thursday, I would assume).

Is there nowhere she could have been anywhere in that park anywhere by the lake that wasn't sealed off? (I think I just confused myself with that question!)

The closest map view I've been able to find is this, which is just up from the new park they're searching...

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=105214839277198153112.000480c3d41935b598566&t=h&ll=33.073549,-117.06476&spn=0.002095,0.003203&z=18

It would be in the lower left part of the lake, looking across to the other side.

Mick, those aren't lakes.

They are, at best, like a large pond. At best.

They've almost gotten the pond drained, in fact, and they've only been working on it the last few hours.

If you're talking lake and water levels, that is NOT where you'd want to focus - those are small and relatively shallow.

Is them draining it something normal?

The ONLY place she could have been is on the north side - from the footbridge area to beyond past where Gardner was arrested.

She was NOT on the south side in that area. There is NO way.

They weren't even letting "regular" searchers in the south side on Sunday, and certainly not people out strolling. It was restricted to specially trained searchers, and by later in the day, only authorities, FBI, and military and LEO tied searchers.

And for goodness sakes, if this lady thinks that after a presumed murder had just happened back there that all those cops guarding entrances would let a female with a kid and some dogs just go walking alone there  while they're searching a) for someone by that point it was obvious was likely dead or kidnapped, and b) with a murderer or kidnapper lose while they were searching...well...

That HAD to have been Thursday. Even by Friday people weren't just able to go walking around back there...

3rd one is Hodges from a different vantage point yes.

Now we're talking about the same place...if you look up lake, you'll see the backsides of what I was talking about with the photo I posted.

It may be the hill back on the right with more light on it, is approximately opposite from where I believe I had a 'vantage point'.

Is them draining it something normal?

No. They're doing it solely based on what's happened in the last 36 hours or so with the tip about the possible hair in the bag, and out of caution because of it looking like he may have been involved with Amber, and because of where he placed Chelsea.

But it shows how little the pond in that they're draining it over even just doing the combing thing in addition to dive teams.

So, is that part of lake hodges or somewhere totally different?

Yes, thanks Traveling Bug....my original post, back when they were looking for Chelsea was on that one point I just described upthread....on Lake Hodges...

It's hard to get a sense of scale, but since they were looking closer to that area today, was willing to look for potential viewpoints as well. Thanks for clarifying that.

Sorry TB, the area that they're draining, is it a pond that is connected to lake hodges when the lake is full, or is it a totally different body of water in a different area?

It's been a full day. I'm going to get some sleep and will check tomorrow morning.

There are two VERY, VERY small ponds in Kit Carson. One is about swimming pool size, and the other is like a small golf course water feature.

They are totally and completely unrelated to Lake Hodges.

It is on the north east side of Lake Hodges, across a freeway and a major road, and behind a very large shopping mall.

I hope someone takes cadaver dogs out to where I pointed out and spends a day or two. Now I'm really signing off....

I take it Kit Carson Park is near Amber's school? It looks like in the pictures that it is pretty popular, true? Would there have been any privacy there around the 7 am time (assuming someone went straight there).

It's about 10 miles from Amber's school.

BUT at that time of day, it'd have taken him a good 20ish minutes on the freeway because of morning traffic that backs up there, and probably at least that on surface streets.

So...sort of close.

I've got both the park and Amber's school on the map.

I'd say it's similar to the park and area around Lake Hodges - varies in busyness, but yes, people do like to go run and walk there - mornings, noon, and beginning around 3:30 pm to night time are the busiest.

Unless he has some connection to that park it doesn't really make sense why he'd choose there. Seems like there must have been other places on the way from the school closer and more secluded to pull off.

I agree. There'd have been many other choices.

I could see it he might have used in other cases, but Amber's? Unlikely in my opinion.

Weren't there reports of attempted attacks/abductions in or around Kit Carson Park? Or am I just imagining things now?
