Or another thought that I hope isn't true, He did find a vehicle but it has people in it and they are being held captive until he gets to where he wants to go. Or has someone(s) in their cabin held hostage.

This is just like a B rated cabin horror movie, if so.

I don't think the LE will know if he's there or not until all cabins have been searched & cleared. Then they also have the task to find owners who aren't in the area to see if anyone local can check the cabin & report what might be missing, like a car. Those little pesky bits of info have to be cleared. If they have gone through all cabins or made contact with them, they will move on but followup on the pesky ones will be followed through on.

I thought at first he wasn't at Big Bear due to the burned up truck. It seemed like he could have had someone waiting for him or had a car parked so he could get away leading police on a wild goose chase. After I read his axle was broken, some guns were found burned in the truck and reading about the rough roads and knowing mountain roads personally, he could still be stuck in Big Bear possibly.
That could be a major problem because many property owners there live out of the area and just use it as vacation property/rentals. It's pretty expensive to live in a resort area full-time. The costs of living are high. Produce was very expensive. It was cheaper to buy our food for the week locally and bring it in ice chests. It's the same way in Tahoe.

I wonder why anyone would consider him a "badass." All he's done is written out a self absorbed, arrogant, evil doer- threatening sob story.

He has cowardly ambushed and murdered three innocent human beings. Oh, and he terrorized and tied up an EIGHTY - ONE year old man. Sounds like someone most people would call a punk-🤬🤬🤬 to me.

:goodpost: BINGO!

he is thought to have more armament than he could manage in just one load, IMO. he had to cache the weapons/ammo in numerous trips from the disabled truck/maybe in numerous locations. might be another reason why all the activity is near/just below the less-traveled roads above town and the two main ski resorts where LE was invited to ski yesterday. he's safer up there, obviously, and closer to his stash

Heck, he had enough time writing his short story to have had an editor. Wish he had stuck with that. But noooo, we have billy badass. He's crossed the line. In the end he will just be a legend in his own mind.

Looks like I was wrong. Three, not two, innocent bystanders have been shot to date ( link )

I think that was debunked. The man in the pick up was not shot. He was driving away from the other shooting, and the oncoming cops, who were called in as backup, sand heard all of the shooting, thought he was the shooter escaping. OOPS.

and you wouldn't believe how many come up only 1-2 times a year, and some years not at all

It's been reported that he used to come here as a kid, and his mom owns land nearby. I wonder if he knows of a cabin that is rarely used. Maybe he headed up that way for a specific hideout he had in mind.

Onother pesky detail would be why he was going up to Big Bear in the first place? Did he have support or know someone who would help him? Why Big Bear other than I read his family owned a cabin there years ago. It read they would vacation there. I'll search for the link tomorrow but since hearing his mom had a home 35 miles from there I think it could be lousy reporting too.

Big Bear is not this huge, widespread area, with cabins spread out all over the place. It is a very small community. The cabins are so close to each other. Literally, on top of each other. The "locals" all know each other and they certainly know who is not local (and not very nice to them). The neighbors look out for each other and would most likely, know if someone was occupying a cabin that should be vacant. Since it has just snowed, tracks leading up to a cabin that should be vacant, will be a dead give away to the neighbors and LE. If Darner is inside someone's cabin, he would need food/supplies?? There is no way he could walk into any store there without being recognized.

They announced the funeral services for the fallen officer tonight. It will be on Wednesday. Praying there is a resolution sooner.

I wonder if they will postpone the funeral if this isn't resolved by then.
Just seems like a great way to target a bunch of cops.

Or target him if they need to. It will be heavily guarded if he's not found by then. Wish it would all work out with no more killings. There's been enough already.

I wonder if someone who has killed 3 people and wrote a book long letter can even come back to reality & stop the killings, surrender? Pensfan?

I actually find it very interesting he didn't kill the guy with the boat.
Really makes me think he is ONLY going to kill targets unless he gets desperate.

IIRC tonight it was reported as an undeveloped 2-acre lot near Arrowbear, about 30 miles down the front highway toward Arrowhead/Running Springs

Thanks Gramcracker. I read today that he vacationed in the area growing up. His family owned a cabin there & he knew the area well. Lousy reporting, I don't know. Now I'll have to find that article again..darn it but it was MSM.

I find Arrowhead a much more believable story though.

IIRC it was reported today that he/his family spent lots of time in the mountains when he was younger. maybe they rented and/or camped

I was wondering why Big Bear, too. I had thought maybe one of his targets was up there since that seems like what he's hell bent on doing. Why would he go that way after shooting the policeman in Corona?? He's on a mission to kill the people he named in his manifesto. Is one of them retired up there?? Or is one of his target's family up there?

There are so many empty cabins up there and especially lately when the weather has been warmer, many of them weren't rented out. And some of the vacationers who own up there do leave a vehicle up there for local driving around. It would be easy for him to get one of those.

Or in a more remote place, he could have broken into a cabin, harmed the occupants and taken their car and the police just hasn't stumbled onto it yet. So there are ways he could have left the area before LE got things battened down up there.

If he's around, I suppose he could have gotten into one of the cabins. If it's a vacation cabin, it might at least have canned goods stored in it.

I don't see his mission as being over yet. He still has people he wants to make pay. I don't see how killing innocent people, families of those he's ticked at furthers his cause of being the perpetual victim and it certainly don't make him a badass in my eyes, he's a coward.

I have a couple of CHP officers in my family. They are young parents with young children. I certainly don't want to see either of them running into this guy. They work out of San Diego. I'm so grateful one of them didn't pull him over during the time he was down there.

He could easily be anywhere right now. And I've got family all over the place down here. In Orange County, Riverside County, San Bernadino County, Kern County, Los Angeles County, San Diego County. I'm more nervous then a cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

No, but you gave me a thought- he could've held someone hostage to stay at their place...

Or killed them and took over their home.

Police said officers still were guarding more than 40 people mentioned as targets in a rant they said Dorner posted on Facebook. He vowed to use "every bit of small arms training, demolition, ordnance and survival training I've been given" to bring "warfare" to the LAPD and its families.

The incident led police to believe he was armed with multiple weapons, including an assault-type rifle. That detail concerned officers whose bullet-proof vests can be penetrated by such high-powered weapons, said LAPD Deputy Chief Kirk Albanese.

As a result, all LAPD officers have been required to work in pairs to ensure "a greater likelihood of coming out on top if there is an ambush," Albanese said. "We have no officers alone right now."
