Him still being up there just doesn't make sense.
With the number of people up there walking and driving around, tracks could be anyone.

His truck broke. For him to get out, he'd need to carjack or steal a car.

CBS News National Security Consultant Says Capturing Dorner Will Be A Tricky Task
February 8, 2013 10:51 PM

snipped

McCausland says, “Dorner is really a terrorist. And the first role of a terrorist is to execute his mission with unconventional, asymmetric tactics. And as terrorists go, he’s doing a pretty good job of that right now.”

snipped again

McCausland also believes Dorner might not be the sharpshooter he claims to be. His rifle rating of marksman, he says, is actually the lowest qualified ranking.

And the military expert adds, there is nothing to indicate Dorner reached advanced levels with specialized weapons or tactics, like that of Navy Seals

So he is armed to the teeth and it's clear he isn't planning on being captured alive. If you think you could capture him alive, maybe you can volunteer your services, cause I really can't figure out how police would capture him alive.

Is that SNARK comment necessary?

He might have not reached advanced levels at sharpshooting with a rifle. But his skills seem to be good enough for him to allegedly kill 3 people and elude police. He has police experience, he has military experience. I think saying he is "extremely dangerous" is an under-statement.

Not in the areas they were searching. It was the forestry roads above and between the two ski resorts. Wouldn't be heavily traveled. Also who knows how this crazy person is thinking.

I know that. Has LE checked on any and all parked cars in that area?
My family has a cabin and for a long time a truck was kept there year round.
No one would notice it missing until someone went up to use it.
If there are so many empty cabins up there, why wouldn't there also be vehicles?

I don't know how LE could possibly check on all parked cars. Unless somebody reports a person carjacked or a car missing, he could be long gone from there and LE doesn't know where he is.

He had HOURS of head start. Before his truck burned and the hours it was burning before it was found.

Do we really think in several hours he couldn't find a vehicle to steal?
Being a former cop and military?
I don't buy it. I think he could have easily found a vehicle to steal if he wanted one.

That is exactly my point.
Just because a car hasn't been reported stolen, doesn't mean there hasn't been one stolen.

I think that is true, that there are cabins that have available vehicles in garages, etc.

But the problem is, his axle broke BEFORE he had the chance to drive around and scope out a car or truck to steal/carjack. So he is on foot and very noticeable. He doesn't have that many options, imo.

There is likely going to be a shootout. I hope the vacationers use common sense and get out of there.

I wish everyone would just stay inside and off the roads. LE doesn't need to be responding to accidents constantly!

But his axle likely broke at night (easier to move around)... and he was prepared enough to detonate the truck.
He could have easily found a vehicle to steal before the storm hit... and been gone before they were looking up there.

But he was on a forestry road, in a slightly remote area. How many vehicles is he going to come across, that nobody is going to miss and report stolen?

I think he had a better chance of carjacking someone. Or killing someone at a cabin and throwing them in the trunk.

In that many hours... I think his odds were pretty good of finding something.

Oh, I agree. I don't see them capturing him alive. My issue is that they shot up the truck along with several homes, without bothering to see if they even had the right vehicle. The 71 year old mother was shot in the back and is in intensive care. If they continue in this manner, not only will other innocents be shot, and perhaps, even some killed, but they will look more and more like an execution squad.

This is something I've been thinking about today. So many people seem to view him a some kind of bada$$ vigilante hero. I worry about copycats, i worry about people reaching out to him and aiding in his war against LAPD, I worry about this growing into some kind of people vs government. The not knowing where this guy is coupled with scared cops is making me anxious. Hope that makes sense, I just needed to get those thoughts out of my head.

I wonder why anyone would consider him a "badass." All he's done is written out a self absorbed, arrogant, evil doer- threatening sob story.

He has cowardly ambushed and murdered three innocent human beings. Oh, and he terrorized and tied up an EIGHTY - ONE year old man. Sounds like someone most people would call a punk-🤬🤬🤬 to me.

I don't think the LE will know if he's there or not until all cabins have been searched & cleared. Then they also have the task to find owners who aren't in the area to see if anyone local can check the cabin & report what might be missing, like a car. Those little pesky bits of info have to be cleared. If they have gone through all cabins or made contact with them, they will move on but followup on the pesky ones will be followed through on.

I thought at first he wasn't at Big Bear due to the burned up truck. It seemed like he could have had someone waiting for him or had a car parked so he could get away leading police on a wild goose chase. After I read his axle was broken, some guns were found burned in the truck and reading about the rough roads and knowing mountain roads personally, he could still be stuck in Big Bear possibly.

Looks like I was wrong. Three, not two, innocent bystanders have been shot to date ( link )
