(blushing) I know better - just got caught up in the moment. I also didn't realize that there was a "breaking news" general scanner thread. It's bookmarked for future use :)

Sorry, Kimster.

Well, it seems everyone is just spooked. I don't blame them, but he seems to like to strike at night, from ambush. Maybe he's catching some sleep now.

This is just insane!!

Today is not a good day to be a big, bald, black man in California.

The most recent shooting was in the Inland Empire. They say he tried to steal a yacht here in San Diego, but I think that was last night and his stuff was found after that. The LE shootings were this a.m. so I kind of doubt he's in San Diego area.

He may be heading to Vegas and that's why they are searching the 15. There's actually LE activity all over So Cal.

No one is safe from this guy.

I was thinking the same thing... In SD in wee hours of the morning... Then in Corona/Riverside next... I wouldn't think he'd be jumping back to SD... But maybe on to Las Vegas area...

But who knows what a crazy man would do...

:dunno:

the police presence here even in The OC is unreal. I observed 7 police cars stationed along my drive route to Newport. Some big gnarly looking LE vehicles included.

I had a relative call from National City and they said the police presence on the street is incredible.

From an article I read earlier, this guy was in National City earlier this week. I guess he has property there.

Since the local news at 5 and 6 this morning, LE has determined this man was responsible for an attempt to steal a boat last night. Earlier they didn't put the two together.

That really surprised me to find out he tried to steal a boat. If you read his manifesto, he really seems to be on a rampage & intent on finishing his mission ie: taking out those on his list. It doesn't seem like he would attempt to flee to another state or Mexico unless he his mission was complete.

We need divine intervention. OK, I'm just wishing for that. Meanwhile, the excellent LE and citizens will do it.

Gosh, newspaper delivery people got shot?

I know that media reports can be all over the place, and inaccurate.

JMO, but I think it was probably him.

I also think he took that action as well as leaving items in San Diego as a red herring.

Authorities said they believe Dorner attempted to steal a boat from an elderly man about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Point Loma Yacht Club in San Diego, hours before the shootings in Riverside County.

About 2 a.m., a citizen reported finding property belonging to Dorner on a street near Lindbergh Field, not far from the scene of the attempted boat theft. The property included a briefcase and Dorner's LAPD badge.

By 1:30 am, he is thought to have been in Corona.

The first shooting occurred about 1:30 a.m. Thursday in Corona, where two Los Angeles Police Department officers providing protection for someone mentioned in Dorner's manifesto, officials said. One officer suffered a graze wound to the head during a shootout and Dorner fled the scene, police said.

:sigh:

The first Torrance incident occurred about 5:20 a.m. in the 19500 block of Redbeam Avenue in Torrance, Lt. Devin Chase said. That incident involved Los Angeles police detectives from the Hollywood division, sources said.

Two people were struck by gunfire and transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries, Chase said. No officers were injured.

The second incident, which involved Torrance police officers, occurred at Flagler Lane and Beryl Street about 5:45 a.m. No injuries were reported in that incident.

Chase said both incidents involved vehicles matching the description of the one sought in connection with Dorner.

"Now it appears neither of them are directly related," Chase said. "In both of them, officers believed they were at the time."

Perhaps there will be clarification coming from the Torrance and LA PDs.

Sorry to quote myself...

But I was just thinking he may be going to (or may already be in) Los Angeles...

Since that is the seat of his angst...

In Torrance on Thursday, police shot and injured two people in what [LAPD Chief Charlie] Beck described as likely "a case of mistaken identity."

Yes... I wonder if the guy trying to steal the yacht is a case of mistaken identity...

His mission seems far from complete... Unless he got cold feet...

But he seems like he is more than ready to die for his "mission"...

Rabid dog (sorry to say, but I said this about Dykes in AL)... :( take him out. And thank you to those that risk their lives to do it.

He probably envisioned himself taking out his targets much more efficiently and quickly , like in the movies. In reality, the longer he sticks around stalking his intended victims, the more he risks getting caught before he is finished. LE is all over this and I'll bet they've come closer to getting him than we even know. I think he didn't plan on being this scared of getting caught.

This guy planned on being the predator; now, he's the prey.
