I remember when Los Angeles was doing the gun buy back not to long ago, there were 1 or 2 of those SAM's turned in. sadly it doesn't seem like it's that hard to get a hold of them.:what:

Possible they made their own....easier than trying to get a hold of them unless you have some major militia/terrorist/cartel contacts. And maybe he does but with my limited knowledge it just does not seem likely. I don't know, it seems just like the media is turning him into a Rambo/John McClane/X-Man and getting people even more freaked out then they already are. Yes he is probably very armed and obviously dangerous but he is mortal and not an action star with a stunt double...he's fallible.

ETA oops ok well they got them from the military....not home made. Well shoot...I guess he could have one...all this time I never thought they were THAT easy to get even from the military but...hmm. I still think likely no but I see that it is a bit easier than I thought it would be to get one. Thank you for that Pensfan.

12" of snow today on the valley floor, more at higher elevations around town. still snowing as of 5 minutes ago. low tonight 15, wind 5-10mph. clear/sunny tomorrow

dude has plenty of body stores (fat and muscle) to eat. fat also insulates from cold. he can get by on just water for awhile if he stays dry and reasonably warm

he would surely need some major connection to buy in bulk but for a single purchase all it takes is one bad guy knowing one other bad guy

hoping he gets right fallible, right soon

I have never read that, katydid! I did read what the victim's father said-

Dorner said that in the course of an arrest, Evans kicked suspect Christopher Gettler, a schizophrenic with severe dementia.

Richard Gettler, the schizophrenic man's father, gave testimony that supported Dorner's claim.

After his son was returned on July 28, 2007, Richard Gettler asked 'if he had been in a fight because his face was puffy' and his son responded that he was kicked twice in the chest by a police officer.

I don't understand why the dad would lie? -I think it should all be revisited, might not help this situation, but it might prevent another one.

I think if we were able to see CJG's LE file we would see a pattern of inappropriate responses/behaviors which led LE to acknowledge he was a liability to the profession...

Before we make a decision whether or not to align ourselves with his way of thinking... We need to see all sides...

Killing innocent people/creating fear in many communities/etc. overshadows a man who purports to have a mission for healing society's ills..

Rest assured... while some here may be trying to understand the dynamics that led up to Dorner's violent actions, that does not equate to aligning one's self with his way of thinking and, IMO, should not be asserted as such.

agree.....he had issues long before his firing. The firing just brought it all to a head...though I have yet to find a reason why he snapped now vs 2009.

Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2

He may have snapped now due to his very recent (Feb. 1st ?) discharge from the service.. He was looked over twice for promotion... So he was discharged...

I think this last removal of his core identity made him crumble emotionally...

Yup, really hard. That was his first choice. But there are thousands of applicants for every opening and they had a moratorium on hirings for awhile.

I heard there are openings in Antartica?

:cop: :sleigh:

(sorry, Katy... Couldn't resist...:blushing:

Seriously...I applaud your son for striving to be a protector of our country! :seeya:)

Which is true. It's not to say, however, that everything he stated was completely wrong. It's true that we need to see all sides....but his side has already been stated, and LE isn't going to admit anything now, if ever. He isn't totally believable, but I have seen too much in my own limited experience to take police files as gospel either. Unless other people down the road come forward I doubt we will ever know for sure, and now that he has "gone rogue" so to speak you can bet that even if anything he said was true LE will not admit it...that would make him look like a hero to some and overshadow what he is doing now and what he has done in the last few days. It's easy for me to sit here a state away and think of whys and hows....but until he is caught I guess those don't really matter and the focus should be actually getting him before he harms anyone else.

Oddly, he mentioned a lot of people he is mad at...but it does not seem like he is trying to go after anyone else...yet. Not that the threat is over by a long shot. IMO.

Actually... I was in the same position as your son when I was striving to get into teaching a "few" years ago..

But...when we have a mission... We don't let obstacles stand in our way! :rocker:

The vehicle Dorner was driving when he allegedly shot the Riverside officer is a Nissan truck that was found burning in the forest off Clubview Drive and Forest Service Road 2N10. The area is where the Forest Service was conducting pile burning the day before and planned to continue the burning Thursday as well. Crews from Bear Mountain Resort discovered the vehicle and within a short time, it was determined that the vehicle might be Dorner’s.

So what took Mr. Dorner to BB in the first place? I wonder if one of his intended "targets" owns a home (i.e., vacation home) there? Just wondering...
Two possibilities that I've read, but don't have links handy. 1) LE conference somewhere in the Moonridge area- near Bear Mountain Ski resort. 2) his family owned property up there and he used to live there.

IA. He lit his truck on fire and it called attention to it. I think he took off out of there right after. It would be stupid to have done that, then stayed. There are only 3 ways in and out of there. Hwy 18, Hwy 330 and Hwy 38. Of course, LE would have roadblocks and check all out going vehicles. So he would be trapped up there with no way to get out if he didn't get out before they found out he was up there.
Yeah, but I think he's gonna pull suicide-by-cop and I don't think he planned to stash another vehicle. It looks like he burned his truck because the axle broke when he got up there.:twocents:

still wondering about the trip to BB, from zero to 7000 feet. 45 minutes of winding mountain road w/ some 800' dropoffs if he drove the front grade from Berdoo, about the same time going thru Redlands on another mountain grade. that's a side trip you gotta really want

Does everyone still have the feeling he is on his own? Does anyone think he might have someone helping him, picked him up, allowing him to lay low at their place at this point??? IMHO
No, but you gave me a thought- he could've held someone hostage to stay at their place...

1. I recall reading some of that on a comment made yesterday on this thread. I don't recall who made the comment or if it was sourced to a media link. ETA: i.b. nora provided context for this information above.

2. Reported this morning by the San Bernadino Sun. During a liveblog session with the LA Times, their reporters were asked about it. They said they hadn't heard that and would look into it. I just got home from work so I haven't had time to see if it has been further reported.

Officials also went to a property belonging to Dorner's mother in Arrowbear but didn't find the fugitive.

great find!

all the chatter about activity/sightings is on back road areas above and between Snow Summit and Bear Mountain

I wonder if he was going to snipe cops skiing at Bear Mountain first. the truck was on the ridge alongside the ski runs there
