But the Wests had two other children who were foster care, two biological children and two adopted children. With basically zero income, except for the adoption and foster care kids. So, the Wests should have never had those two foster kids.

There was something off on the entire assessment process that did the "speed" placement of those two boys in this household. JMO.
Not sure what time frame you're referring too? But we determined way back when, all four of the boys were adopted. So at least in 2021 there were no home visits.

I wonder if the Wests knew they could be on the hook for child support?

Yes, sorry, I thought that those other two boys were fosters. But then, how did the Wests get those children? They go straight to adoption?

It would be interesting to know if those other children were also considered "disabled" or special needs.

And what type of qualifications the Wests had to adopt two special needs children.

So, now, four adoption subsidies?!

Madgenia Williams says she has not seen her sons, Gullermo, 8, and Eleuctero Parra, 10, for five years – and at some point, she said, they were placed in the foster care of Trezell and Jacqueline West.

Proof of life is usually a phrase associated with kidnapping. Williams said a court official told her, in confidence, that her sons’ initial foster care placement was with Trezell and Jacqueline West, which she said scares her.

“They’re been there six years now,” Williams said. “They were adopted out in 2018 to the Wests and then from there I’ve seen and heard nothing from them.”

When were Orrin & Orson placed, then adopted?

It states in this article that O & O were placed in foster care with the Wests in 2018. And completed the adoption in 2019. They were dead, probably September, 2020.

The Wests began fostering them in 2018 and adopted them in 2019.

Today the prosecution had the Bakersfield apartment manager point out the 2 dumpster bins, I bet they come back in play.

I wonder how long this trial will last? It has gone slowly and we have not got to the meat and potatoes of it yet.

Four to six weeks? The prosecution is slowly showing the progression. The defense will be interesting.

I wonder if the bio family will be asked to testify? If they do I am going to need a pillow to punch when Stallings cross examines them. I really do not like how she comes across in her questioning. Nasser I have no problems with but we hardly hear from him. Stallings is not doing her client any favors, imo.

Yes, it was in comparison to the defense for the recent Avila case. The defense attorney did a cross examination of the officer who found Baby Saul, and she asked for a "description of the state of the baby", umm, he was almost dead. It didn't help the defendant much.

Well, it is an excellent opportunity to see the difference between public defense and paid attorneys. Although, the recent Murdaugh case was a huge loser with pricey attorneys.

It is probably best for a defense attorney to keep it short and sweet when it comes to cases where your client seems to be quite guilty and there is evidence to prove it. Like TW's attorney Nasser has so far.

Generally, once an adoption is completed you can't turn the child back in to the state if there are issues, Taylor said. There are counseling services they can link the family to, he said. #WestsTrial

If CPS removes the child from the home, the adoptive family would be responsible for child support, Taylor said. #WestsTrial
I can understand why this is the way it is. It stands to reason that after adoption a family wants to go on with the business of living as a family, and no longer be under any more scrutiny than any biological family would be in the same circumstances.

But...considering so many behavior problems are not immediately apparent, and the high profile cases of children being killed by adoptive parents when the support system of the CPS packs up and leaves, I think there should be annual review -at least for the first three years.

Just a little window in a back closet that can be used as an emergency escape hatch if it becomes apparent the adoption isn't working out very well.

As it is, I can understand why families will continue to try to struggle through a problem, and why they don't want to admit they hear something ticking before the bomb goes off.

Got here late , sounds like a neighbor of the Wests saw both of them dumping a cooler or something in the dumpster on Dec. 19,2020. In Bakersfield.

Stallings is picking his testimony apart saying he told officers in Spanish he could not see who was at the dumpster. He is telling her no he did not say that and it might be a translation error.

He says he could see in the light. He seems to be holding up against her.

He repeated the picture of the Wests he saw in the news were the same 2 people he saw at the dumpster.

( When I logged on late, the neighbor was talking about seeing someone holding a stick and diaper, I think. )

On the stand is another neighbor from Bakersfield apts. Did not catch her name. says TW always had a stick in his hand.
She does not remember seeing JW. I believe Smith is questioning her atm.

The Wests van would be parked by a vacant lot. She would see TW over by the vacant lot. Smith ends question and Stallings begins cross exam. She would see TW while walking her dog. Stallings ends cross. I believe Nasser is now questioning.

( I imagine when news broke out about the Wests this neighborhood was gossiping.)

She was excused and Alfredo Bayaca is back on stand from yesterday. He processed the van. Prosecution is showing pics from the van.Three rows of seats. I think 3 car seats.

No positive tests from spraying Bluestar for fluids. Smith ends.
