The suicide of De Ranieri has nothing to do with the Ayres case. I don't know why that it's published that he died of a heart attack. The mother of one of the Ayres victims was De Ranieri's patient and she would be in a position to know what happened to him. I am just passing along the news that we have heard.
At both the hearings for the Ayres case, and during the actual trial, both "Dr." Ayres and his wife Solveig behaved in weird and inappropriate ways.
During one hearing, Solveig walked up to the mother of a victim and said "Only God knows what really happened." The mother told the detective on the case, who told the judge. Solveig was advised not to talk to the families of the victims
During the trial, Ayres would wave to the anguished parents of the victims. He apparently is still angry that he had to fork out money to the family of one of the victims, because in the hall outside the courtroom he walked up to the mother of the victim who settled the civil case and said "Isn't it a lovely day?" And she said "Not after what you did to my son!",
Ayres replied, "Oh? It isn't a lovely day?"
He also walked up to one of the victims who was going to testify and said coyly "You should be a basketball player."
This monster does not understand boundaries.
During the trial, when he spotted one child psychiatrist who was there in support of the victims, Ayres sneered to the doctor "Are you a Scientologist?"
There's a great story in the San Francisco Chronicle about how controlling and vindictive Ayres is.

Incidentally, that term "retired" is incorrect. Ayres was in the process of trying to work for some place for troubled boys when he was arrested. California Atorney General Jerry Brown immediately suspended his medical license. Otherwise Ayres would still be practicing to this day.
After forty years of having an endless pipeline to boys, I believe that while out on bail he is still finding ways to be around boys.
Perhaps he's hanging around a public swimming pool where little boys are taking lessons... After all, the police did find those nude boy picture books of adolescent boys in Ayres' possesion.
