Respectfully as well!

This is what its like AN example of mom and dad real hell (and he is high functioning) Mom and Dad have to work. He wakes up agitated, refusing to take his medications. Now mom could take her sick child and attempt to force them down his throat, but knows that kind of activity would increase his agitation. Last time she tried that he bit her finger so bad that it got infected and then he threw two lamps at her. This is before your frist cup[ of coffee.

Mom and Dad have to go to work. They cannot spend an hour attempting to deescalate him. SO moms choice is to get him off to School without his meds. BUT without his meds, he keeps escalating. There is another child in the home. She walks in and is scared to dealht her big brother is screaming, slamming his hands everwhere tossed two glasses on the floor , there is no glass on the floor and the little one starts crying.

He had a bad day about three weeks ago and was ruminating loudly about how he is going to kill everyone in the houe with this knife. They hide the knives and hope for the best at that point, Obviously both mom and dad (Friday night) displayed a total awareness ( and sadly were correct) that he had the capacity to harm self and kill others others

She placed him in an apt where other people were around (sad now) but not living on his own. His high functioning actually hurt him in terms of placement. He could manage his daily stuff, grooming brushing teeth, shower, buying food etc
.
He kicked the dog really hard two weeks and broke through the sliding glass door a month ago. Six weeks ago he shoved the younger child in home down – she needed stitches. But dad is at work, mom needs to get to the ER, but knows she cant leaved him agitated along

Years of this………..what would you do? Tthey just did the best they could,
The lower functioning austic can be really scary.......

Cariis, I respectfully disagree with your conclusion that the parents did the best they could and were caring/enlightened. Perhaps they did the best they could at the moment they found out about the manifesto (at age 22 & very recently).
However, let's not forget that the stepmother was very, very afraid of ER. She wanted him out of the house at age 18 and ER's father supported that decision. So in essence, he was a sick little boy, a sick young man and the most caring thing is to let him loose on his own without any "tools"?

His behavioral issues were significant and manifested themselves at a very, very early age.

I'm not necessarily blaming the parents but I wouldn't give them a free pass either. They were aware of the build-up of ER's behavior but couldn't or wouldn't do enough to prevent the outcome.

Also, I would like to thank you Cariis for your patient posts informing the laypeeps here about DSM V and it's interpretation/significance.

Even the way he talks of his parents and baby brother, it's always the formal "mother and father" and "the newborn baby boy". Never mom, dad, baby Jazz etc.

I think if he gained access to the sorority house he'd have been in for a real surprise because I think those girls would have fought back and doled out some real humiliation.

He had just killed three men using a knife and had three semi-automatic handguns. How do you expect the women in a sorority house could have fought back? He'd likely have killed a lot more people if he gained access to the sorority house.

The way I read it ...

ER emailed it to a number of people including his parents and just before the massacre.

Then, one of the recipients emailed it to media.

Wow. KEYT in Santa Barbara had it online so fast. If KEYT had been the sole recipient, would they have had a duty to turn it over to the police first? Or would it have been considered their property and publish it? TIA

Or he could have emailed it to the media directly.

I love the ignore feature!

IMO at this point I still believe he had a Personality Disorder. I think he was good at his game. Conned Therapists, Parents, anyone he had something to gain from. His manifesto was interesting to say the least. I sure would love to hear what evil acts he inflicted on others. Starting from childhood. Just my read for now.

I don't think newspapers have a duty to turn it over to the police?

I recall that at the time ER got his driver's license...Jack bought mom a car... And that she gave her car to ER...

but... Later... Mom bought ER the BMW...

Interesting that ER never mentions the type of car mom gave him initially... the first car probably did not represent a status symbol to him, as the BMW did...

Was it this suv?? I tried to just link. If it blows the margins I will remove. On tapatalk my margins don't get blown...

ER could have ... but that's not how I've read it in articles so far.

I don't know if they HAD a duty to report it to LE, but I don't even know if they knew what they were looking at (if they had even seen it) until after the shooting. I do wish they would have taken the time to consult LE before publishing it (maybe they did) and I wish they would have taken the time to blur/black out the names, but it appears to me they were legally within their right to publish it as is.

No. I don't feel that it is right (my opinion only). I don't even like how the Daily Mail published pictures of the first girl (play-mate) he knew... even if her face was blurred out. I think they're going through enough right now. I still think that maybe all the names should have been blacked out from the manifesto.

He had to have named at least 100 people, if not more and I feel it's only right to give them space. They will decide when and IF they want to even address it.

Well, the guy was in the Hunger Games (as stated in the article), so that is why I googled to see who he was. Not like I am investigating unnamed persons.
He is an actor.

Bolded and underlined I am glad someone finally said it. I truly believe he was a sadist. I think the reason he didn't turn to becoming a serial rapist/killer is because what would that even get him?? He would still be unknown.

This is one of the reasons I don't like how much attention these rampage killings/mass killings get in the media. Didn't they even put the Boston bomber on the cover of Rolling Stones Magazine? They always get covers on People Magazine. Front page newspaper/online articles from all around the globe. I know a constant complaint that I have is why so much attention on the killer/s and not the victims?

The manifesto was another way for him to inflict pain on people. I want to say again that all those people (with the exception of his parents on certain issues) named have nothing to feel guilty about (just in case they stumble across this website). They did nothing wrong and there was nothing they could have done different.

He had fantasies of raping women. You are right to look into any rape case during his high school years.

Virgin killer admitted he wanted to hold down and rape women to friend who was among 30 people who received murderous manifesto
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...d-30-people-received-murderous-manifesto.html

The former student who killed six people in a vengeful rampage in Santa Barbara had told a friend he wanted to hold down and rape women, the friend's mother has revealed.

Cathleen Bloeser's son was a childhood friend of killer Elliot Rodger and was among the 30 people who received his sick manifesto by email just seconds before he carried out the murders.

In the 141-page document, 22-year-old Rodger described how he was going to kill his housemates, then slaughter women at a sorority house before opening fire on the streets of Isla Vista. He explained that he was driven to kill after numerous women had rejected him.

Rodger emailed his manifesto to 30 people including his parents, therapists and former teachers. It is believed he may have already killed the three men in his house by then.

One of the therapists immediately telephoned Rodger’s mother Chin Rodger.

He said “Have you gotten Elliot’s email? I think you should see it.” The time was 9.17pm on Friday, about 13 minutes before the massacre began.

I wonder if the formal reference to his parents was what he called them or simply an unemotional frame of reference. I, too, was struck by that. His manifesto never contained the word "love" and IIRC, he wrote that he was "fond of the boy" when referring to Jazz. I didn't read much if any positivity towards his sister or mother. I gathered that he was "fond" of his grandmothers although I don't recall him using that word.

I am just greatful the sorority girls didn't open the door so we didn't have to find out. JMV

In the same way those who fought on the plane on 9/11. Just because they're women doesn't mean they're physically incapable of stopping ER. He missed with quite a number of shots when he opened fire on the streets. I'm glad he didn't manage to get into the sorority house but I don't think he'd have managed to successfully pick them off one by one.

I 100% agree!

He was such a hateful child, wasn't he? I stand by my initial words, he was evil to the core. Even as a child.

I think more about the little sister when I look at his childhood. I wouldn't doubt if he abused her as children. Not sexually, but emotionally, verbally, and even physically. Even as children, she was beneath him. He'd go into fits if she would get anything that he deemed better than what he got. From a very early age he was the type to think "If I can't have it! No one can have it."

Even at a very young age he showed a sense of entitlement. At one of his early his early birthday parties, whoever cut the cake gave someone else the first piece...and it was HIS birthday, and he should have gotten the first piece

I did look at his youtube postings, but they bored me to tears....That same old monotone voice OMG I could not listen very long.

This article explains it perfectly.

Speaking in a monotonous voice is a real communication killer. When the variety of your voice’s pitch doesn’t vary, it’s impossible for your listener to maintain any interest in what you’re saying. He tunes out – quickly. Once again, your message falls by the wayside.

But even if he did hear it, he probably wouldn’t believe it. People who speak in a monotone or with inappropriate expression in their voices are perceived as untrustworthy, boring, or even shifty.

Also from your link:
A neighbour at the Capri said Rodger had been hospitalised with an injured ankle after being pushed off a ledge in a fight in July.

The neighbour said: “He was so emotional with like water faucets coming out down in his cheeks for half an hour. I’ve never seen anybody that mad. He said ’I’m gong to kill all of them I’m going to kill myself’. I don’t know if that’s what set the plan in motion.”

He talked about how not able to ride amusement park rides were a huge injustice to him. It is true children get upset when something is denied, but they just move on, but for Rodger, it manifest over time.
