There is limited access to treatment in most of the country; not enough beds, not enough qualified doctors, $$, inane insurance regs, stigma, over prescription of un-neccessary meds, ridiculous laws, and non-compliance of patients for varying reasons.

Advocates will not assist in conservator or guardianship in 99% of the country. It is almost impossible to get someone involuntarily committed, even Baker Acted.

To get back on the topic of ER specifically- I believe he was bound and determined to carry out his plan- and would have found a way, even if he was held for 72 hours (or longer) , and was "gun-less'. He waited a month after the LE visit- and no one called, insisted, or went to court to get an emergency hold or guardianship.

These are great points! States cannot effectively enact more restrictive laws based on mental health without increasing mental health funds and increasing beds. I also agree that this would not have changed the outcome for ER's victims. The fact that we are having these types of debates/discussions on a national scale in MSM, regardless of what laws are created, gives me hope that we can find a solution to best address all of the excellent issues you presented.

So, where did he get the Vicodin. On the street??? jmo

ER had ankle surgery last year. He could have some painkillers left over. Maybe he had a refill.

You guys might be interested in this, but I'm not wasting another two hours of my time on this guy.

The Truth About Elliot Rodger - YouTube

I started to watch this, but he made references several times to ER talking about suicide and killing people before the police showed up in the wellness check. No, he did NOT. He did that during his Day Of Retribution video, which was only posted just prior to his leaving for his big adventure.

This person also seems to have embellished what the police said about ER after the wellness check. Now, not only is he "kind" (which I believe was the LAWYER's word), he's also "wonderful". WTF? I saw no point in continuing to watch a video when someone can't get the facts straight and even ADDS to them.

I was also struck, like Coulter, by his sense of rejection, despite the fact that he NEVER tries to initiate any kind of contact with women in order to actually BE rejected. He feels OWED sex and attention - and that he apparently should have to do nothing at all to show himself worth women giving him their time, attention and intimacy.

I keep wondering if he watched more 🤬🤬🤬🤬 than he let on. If he were to watch 🤬🤬🤬🤬 where women are more than freely available and have sex with guys who, although well-endowed, are not always gorgeous or (worse, in his eyes) of another race, he might assume it's like that for all the other guys, but not him. Then again, watching 🤬🤬🤬🤬 would probably just make him even angrier. OTOH, the one or two that he had seen way back in his early teens might have been enough give him some rather unrealistic ideas about how a man goes about getting laid.

There are guys who compare themselves to 🤬🤬🤬🤬 actors and can't seem to understand that the guys in 🤬🤬🤬🤬 films are NOT average guys, so it's not a big stretch (so to speak) to think that there are guys who actually believe the scenarios that play out in 🤬🤬🤬🤬.

If he weren't such a snob about low-paying jobs, you'd think he would take a job as a pizza delivery guy; in 🤬🤬🤬🤬, those guys ALWAYS get hot women (often tall, hot blondes) who want to have sex with them without the pizza delivery guy even saying a word or making any advances whatsoever.

In addition to narcissism and what not, Rodger was apparently very racist, despite being biracial himself.

Self hatred could appear to be racistwe he even hated biracial males that were the same as him,is that true racism? Alll his room mates were Asian IIRC even the first one who left. I wonder if they had been any other race would he have killed them. He would have hated them but may not of killed them.Stabbing is personal , he could have made a silencer himself for his guns. I never googled for directions but I'm sure they are online. He could have used pillows and played his loud music. Stabbing is a lot more work, messy, he wrote he would kill them then have others come there to kill more people. Was he going to tidy up then call for a pizza kill that person, rinse and repeat all day long. He wanted to kill many more and had a lot of bullets.400 rounds in the car and More in the appt.He also had 3 guns ,but only 2 hands.

Okay, a question for the Mega Sluths - there is one musical video in the "Elliot's Adventures" set

- it's "driving on a foggy day in Santa Barbara."

This is the video where the music has been excised/muted for IP purposes.

Rather than display my dismay, I wanted to ask the team if we know what song is playing? Uncertain when they restricted this ( Grrr.... whio made that call, gee)Please be kind enough to let me know your thoughts.

It might not have been made by anyone, although I think I saw a reference to the owner asserting copyright infringement. I posted a video of my cats playfighting on the cat tree. My TV was on at the time, tuned into Pandora to listen to music. Youtube automatically informed me (after analyzing my video) that it contained copyrighted songs and I would have to replace the audio with something else or post it without audio. Not only that, but they actually NAMED the two songs that played during that time and the artists who sang them (one by Adele and another by someone else). They probably even told me who the copyright owner was. I was stunned! I didn't even think about the music that was on the TV in the background, since the video was about my cats. I had to replace the audio with some non-licensed music from a selection of music offered by YouTube.

Okay aside from her snide remarks about liberals, I actually found myself in agreement with much of Coulter's column (though of course being a liberal, I do think, unlike her, that a lack of access to guns would help these cases).

anyway - she calls auditory hallucination on the supposed conversation between ER and stepmom about younger brother losing his virginity early. I too rolled my eyes at that. Not sure it was a hallucination, or an outright lie, but I'm similarly certain the conversation was much different than how ER related it.

I'm not positively sure yet what his dx was - she seems to feel certain it was schizophrenia, I'm not sure we have proof of that yet. But yeah, interesting column, and funny to see myself scoffing at the same stuff Coulter did.

I do not believe about the conversation either.ER Brother probably was excited and shared his good news about signing up for commercials. He might have seen the bio on that housewives show. She mentions her husband ,her son as bright and bubbly but he is not mentioned at all and he should have been. When mentioning the dad she said I met the love of my life 15 years ago, MY first day in the USA this was written 2013
Yes he felt every women owed him but if you look at it from another angle he also felt males owed him everything too but not the sex or I should say that he never included sex with males in his bio.He felt that Everyone owed him everything because Because he came from British Royalty and everyone else was beneath him and owed him everything. I am a woman and at first felt violated ,threatened and scared when I read his words.

His plan was to take Xanax and vicodine, so if he didn't manage to kill himself, the overdose would do him in. So, I presume that's what he did.

I agree JJ. That's what he said in his manifesto.

She also didn't mention her stepdaughter, ER's sister. If I am to believe the manifesto, the relationship between ER and his stepmom was anything but warm.

Even while he criticized and blamed his mother for not marrying to further his personal and financial status, he was objective enough to describe his home with his mother as loving and warm and happy. I found that interesting. He also was pretty frank about his feelings of entitlement, not something that a person trying to garner sympathy would state. When ER stated in his manifesto that he was upset that his sister was getting the puppy, Lucky, she so desired, he never mentioned Lucky again (except to note that he had subsequently met a friend named Lucky and that he found that peculiar)or any feelings of attachment or annoyance to the puppy. I found that interesting too.

I had to laugh at your post. You are right, of course, about the pizza delivery guy. I just couldn't help imagining the research involved lol. Thanks for the much needed giggle!

If the statements made by him are not true racism, I don't know what is. Now, it might be rooted on self-hatred (although he also adored himself) but that does not make it not racism.

I wonder why they (LE) did not watch the video's? I wonder if the officer's that interviewed him that night have seen the video's and would that viewing have changed their minds and arrested him or put him on a 5150 hold. jmo

Authorities have revealed that despite being warned about disturbing videos posted online by Elliot Rodger, Sheriff's deputies and police did not watch them.

Because they found him polite and non-threatening, I am guessing. Sure doesn't sound to me like police did a good job here.

That welfare check included four Sheriff’s deputies and a police officer, along with a dispatcher-in-training – a bigger presence than the two deputies who normally respond on a welfare check. The check included deputies who were familiar with Rodger from a previous case.

Rodger was “shy, timid and polite,” authorities said in a news release.

The 22-year-old said he was having trouble fitting in socially – and the videos were a way of expressing himself, he said.

“Sheriff’s deputies concluded that Rodger was not an immediate threat to himself or others, and that they did not have cause to place him on an involuntary mental health hold, or to enter or search his residents,” the news release states. “Therefore, they did not view the videos or conduct a weapons check on Rodger.”

bbm, LE dropped the ball. jmo It's my opinion that he got special treatment. jmo

  • #657
The previous case was him making a citizen arrest on his roommate over candle theft. I don't know why that would lead to special treatment.

  • #658
So how do they get the DEA number if they are not licensed physicians? ty

Imo the train will be off the rails if non md's could write script for these type of drugs. Could you see the court cases? What hospital, clinic or state agency would assume the liability?

Jmo

Oh wow. Methinks police have some explaining to do. They knew of videos but decided not to view them because they decided Rodger was not a threat. Well, shouldn't they have viewed the videos first before deciding it?

Wow! Isn't it most often if not always the case that LE knows better?! (The tapes were not important, someone was making this bigger than it actually was)

Many prescribing providers are not licensed physicians (physician assistants and nurse practitioners, for example). Prescriptive authority can be given to PA's, ANP's, M's, DO's and others. Here is a link that describes this in my state of Colorado:

http://cdn.colorado.gov/cs/Satellite/DORA-Reg/CBON/DORA/1251632267188

Currently, psychologists may only prescribe in two states, New Mexico and Louisiana, and in the U.S. military.
Jmo

Still there are limits on prescriptive authority. Can't script the heavy duty drugs without md. Jmo

ciao
