“Rather, he was a violently disturbed individual”
Per these idiots!(http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...uld-not-save-Virgin-Killer-Elliot-Rodger.html)

A totally inaccurate statement. The truth would read:

Rodgers, who had a long history of mental illness, appeared to become increasingly angry, and frustrated in the final two months of his life.

He was not violent throughout his life – he had little (push/drunk night) violence in his history. “violent” people tend to have a lot of contact with LE . He had none in 22 years. The autistic has little propensity for violence

.
Unless one is hearing voices, violence and aggression typically needs interaction between another person. Did he boil over, in one final violent event yes. The sad irony here is if he had a violent history he might have been eval on April 30 – but even that is moot they would have kept for 72 hours and dced. He may have been a week late, but he was simmering his entire life, and blew.

I am not sure if believe throwing hot water – a license plate number woud have resulted in an arrest - it would be in his criminal history. I think that was more a fantasy of what he wished he could do

I agree. He kind of looked like the male version of Angelina Jolie.
In his younger pics he reminds me of Freddie Mercury!

But would 3 20 yr old college students be asleep at 9 pm on a Friday night?

This was my question also. All three asleep and not one wake from the sounds. Wonder if ER somehow spiked their drinks. Jmo

Ugh! And, I wonder if the roommates and friend gathered under the false pretense of let's have a drink to celebrate ER having been done with the school year or having graduated?

Don't delete your post! It brings up a lot of good points about Narcissism.

And I'm also still amazed at the brilliance of the article written by the Jeopardy guy that a poster put up. It highlighted misogony. It talks about men in our society believing that if they work hard and become successful that they **deserve** beautiful women, automatically. Beautiful women are just another accessory to their gradiose lives.

There are no shortage of beautiful women who believe they **deserve** successful men. Maybe they deserve each other. :)

A bit O.T. = Here's my question: why do men think it is appropriate to make comments to women while they are simply doing their jobs (think professional job, professional attire)? Even if these comments are complimentary in nature, they are still so inappropriate and bizarre. For instance, I was told by a man **this week**...."you have such pretty hands" while I was typing in documentation (doing my job). And another one commented about my hair..."your hairstyle is so pretty---very retro---did you pick that or did your hairstylist"?

I'm not kidding! This week those two comments were said and a few others along those lines. Of course they are not nasty comments but as a woman, I would never go around telling a man while he was doing his job diligently---anything about his physical features or anything personal. It is to me a form of psychological power or pseudo-bullying. It is very arrogant.

Maybe it is Narcissism? (seguing back into the appropriate topic).:seeya:

Those are exactly the type of men ER HATED.

Men must be sexually more aggressive than women. Sexually aggressive men pass on their genes; sexually passive men are weeded out of the gene pool, especially in a sexually liberal society.

ER understood his dilemma. But rather than deal with it, he chose to feel sorry for himself and hate humanity. He didn't need more therapy (he already had 15 years of that); he needed a swift kick in the butt from an older "Alpha Male". JMO

Did ER say why he wanted to kill his roommates? We're they bringing girlfriends to the apartment? This manifesto is insane. I can't finish reading it. Jmo

ciao

Not because of women. He had issues with his roommates. One of them he accused of stealing candles. Apparently ER took roommate's measuring cup. Roommate took ER's candles in response. ER then made a "citizen arrest" and called police on his roommate, ending up with roommate arrested for petty theft. So there was no love lost between them.

Being gang raped by obnoxious ugly men. He would be good young fresh meat for those big boys.

His arrogant and snobby attitude would make him a target as prisoners do not look too kindly that kind of behavior.

All over the internet, I continue to see vague, blanketed statements like: the system is broken; society is broken; it's society's fault; healthcare for mental illnesses is broken, we need to change this law or that, etc

JMVHO:
So long as people, who witness/ID/treat/encounter the red-flag acts/statements/behaviors of potential mass murderers, fail to take appropriate action ... society on the whole will continue to suffer on this merry-go-round of the occasional mass murder, followed by screams that "society" on the whole is responsible, laws should be changed, etc, when "society", in these types of cases, is fundamentally dependent on individuals/people to take action and when necessary!

I've been just amazed at the response esp re misogyny and how the tide has turned against this now dead infamous serial killer. The media made him; youtube has allowed his videos to stay up; someone has made his name dot org and posted all his video's writings etc....now he goes down in infamy. But no one stands against our current assault rifle ban; nothing new today has happened, nothing new will happen, status quo a ok.

Something has to change. And soon. [modsnip] I so feel for the parents who are burying their children this weekend. I can't breathe when I think of it....the sadness, the loss....the permanence of it all.

[modsnip]

I hv been mainly silent in this thread because I feel such sadness at what ER has done. [modsnip]

[modsnip] ER's view was as if we were put on this earth to Serve Man. His view is skewed w hatred and misogyny as well as his long winded whining for never getting any. He was a social misfit, an outcast and did nothing to change who he was inside, he worked at nothing to address his true feelings. He worked at nothing to change himself.

There was a time in my life when I was very young that I realized omg i hv no voice, i'm not safe in the place you should be safest....but a switch was flipped. Instead of cowering under a table, not making eye contact, being a social outcast....I knew that i couldn't "pass" in society unless I broke out of my horrific shy shell, and these were things I came to understand in elementary school. I found ER's posts and videos and whining to be extremely immature..[modsnip] Instead of forcing him into his "non comfort zone"....like I have to still do at times....he was allowed to simmer. Like a boiling pot.

Maybe he was celibate and thought that included self love...and he didn't alleviate himself even on his own....and I wonder about that. Sex does release a lot of stress, it also can dull pain for about an hour, it makes you feel better, happy, normal, loved, good, awesome, and all these things. Even if you are a virgin. I wonder if he indulged in any 🤬🤬🤬🤬 at all. I'd like to see the PC forensics on this one. I truly would. I'm pretty sure we would find a LOT of Bondage and SM on his pcs and on his phone. He Hated Women. He hated Men. He hated Society. He had a Plan.

And I'm here to say that no one, can stop anyone when they have a plan such as this, insane or sane as can be, if they have a plan there is little we can do to stop such a person. The signs were there. He could have been a writer. He could have been fostered by his father, forced to take classes forced to mingle forced to be normal and do normal things. Instead I see his family basically pull away, he was 22 and he was an adult and I'm here also to say that his parents sister and flat mates even, did not know. Had no clue to his ammo cache....well the one friend knew from the "clicking he heard from him pulling the trigger often in his room" instead of checking on him...he was left to simmer like a boiling pot.

I thought often on Seth Maz in the recent trial that is going on; and I feel he is very much like Seth Maz or Bob Bashara, these are men who feel we are here to "please and serve MAN" and nothing else. We are a vessel for their organ, nothing more. Do our films and books and culture in America breed people like ER or was this genetic and true mental illness...I think it's the former. I think that for many young adults things are so different from when we were growing up in the 60s and 70s, they have it so different and we are missing something. Of that I'm 100% sure. It saddens me...and I wonder again about the online culture and the use of constant mediums like the net...and having everything at your fingertips on demand....now that includes sex. In ER's head it did; he felt he was a God, entitled to "these women" and why didn't they want him why didn't they like him"....whine on.....here I say. I would have loved a half hour to instill something in this freak. Just one half hour to change his view on women, and how strong we really are, that we are sometimes stronger than our male counterparts and that We give Birth To Them, and don't forget it. WE do something that they cannot do....We give them Life we Bring THEM into the world, and I think many are missing that fact. [modsnip]

Laws post made me want to share this nonsense- just unreal- repulsive :
Firefighters let home burn over $75 fee -- again

http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2011/12/07/9272989-firefighters-let-home-burn-over-75-fee-again

Thanks for the article.

So this city has decided to pass a law entitling only those who pay to receive fire services, because it is not a right. Some cities will promise it to everyone, others will not. A city that had normally responded to fires outside the city without asking for payment could be sued for something, such as discrimination against a certain homeowner or negligence if no one was at the fire station, but in this case, it would be much harder. I don't live in a rural area, and most fire stations around here will gladly go help another city/town in an emergency - that's their policy. We could change it, though. It's all optional. US citizens have no right to a fire department, even if they are subject to taxes somewhere. very sad situation - trailers are so dangerous in fires and their occupants can't afford protections. I wonder what would have happened if people were inside. I would think the firefighters may have made an exception.

I don't want to be un-PC because I said something similar in a different thread a while ago and it was snipped, but regarding the demographics of the killers, there is such a small amount that I don't think a convincing profile could ever be developed. Yes, there are characteristics you can identify that they all have, but you can find probably hundreds of thousands of white men around 20 who are from upper middle class backgrounds, struggling with jobs and relationships and fitting in, who have a history of mental health issues but no criminal history, who have started ranting online, who appear to be deteriorating, and who recently bought guns. So few of them actually do anything like this. It takes a very particular set of circumstances combined with that personality and mind to lead to this.

When society becomes unstable and stratified, young men are most likely to act out because they are frustrated and unable to see a future since they are "others" - we see this in unstable nations and in urban areas - they might get caught up in an ideology to give them purpose, or if that's not as readily available, they might turn inward and a few snap.

I do very strongly feel, as I said before, that the U.S. provides a very unstable atmosphere for young people, even though they also have so much more than young people in other countries. There is just no clear path to family and employment anymore, and that affects young males the most. I'm not saying being essentially assigned a local girl and working on your family farm was a great life, because I certainly prefer modern life, but there are fewer and fewer opportunities for people who aren't socially successful and focused. The US is becoming way more stratified, and the media makes it way more clear. I don't know how this could be addressed, but I do think it's one of the biggest issues facing our society.

Could the firefighters bill the homeowner after the fire is put out? Hospitals do that.

The only reason hospitals do that is because a federal law mandates it. They did not always do this. A lot of people want to end that law, but I doubt they'd be happy once they saw the consequences.

It costs the hospitals a lot of money, because many of those people never pay. The fire department would face the same issue. These people have no money now - they won't have money in the future, most likely.

Elliot Rodger Didn't Have Autism. He Had Anger
http://www.forbes.com/sites/emilywillingham/2014/05/30/elliot-rodger-didnt-have-autism-he-had-anger/

asked me if the life he describes reads like the experience of an autistic person. The discussions about his manifesto that I’ve seen diverge completely from that conclusion: Many comments I’ve seen in the autism community, which knows autism best, see that his forming friendships throughout childhood and being obsessed with being “cool” and styling himself are not at all like the experiences most autistics have in childhood.

But that doesn’t matter because Elliot Rodger, in spite of reportedly having been in the care of multiple mental health professionals, does not appear to have had a diagnosis on the autism spectrum. Just after the shootings, the family’s attorney made a statement claiming that Rodger had a diagnosis of Asperger’s. However, he backtracked on that a day later, saying instead that Rodger “had not been diagnosed with Asperger’s.”

I do not think Elliot Rodger had autism or Asperger's.

Wow -

I can answer that. This just happened yesterday - bizarre. I was in a bagel shop and right before the customer left - in an awkward moment of exit - he turns back to the female employee and says "you have pretty eyes."
Similar to you, T-o_honey -
There is a reason for this:

65% hope for a date
20% They were told to compliment others, it makes them feel good.
15% they are just so happy with their life- that they want to share their happiness with others. (i.e.: my life is so great!!! everyone should be as happy as I am, and I will let them know).

Point of Order: In your case, TOH, it appears to be the first one! ( so funny!). Sounds to me like they are fighting for your attention- and IT IS ON!!

I need to do more of that.

As for bullying, I do not think it is- but if you feel that sensation - then - they should stop. Of course, we do not know much more of these people - other than the two statements. If they are micro-managing, evil-doers, then for them to quip a quick compliment, just to gain your favor...

I have noticed, in the workplace, and believe it or not , I have a very big job in the financial industry... but I have noticed that people compliment me when they need my help - (politics).

Interesting - and I think this is all relevant... ER had the moxy to do this.... once: say hi and smile.
