Sorry LinasK. I have already edited my post. I did not see the link CARIIS provided till after it posted. :blushing: It does help when one is posting info on the committal process to a MH facility to have a verified professional or at least state it is their opinion. That's all.:)
NO interest in verifying or anything this is recreation!

I had all that stuff on my thing Avatar or whatever but then I tried to put my dog in it and it all went away !

I had this on it:
PAXIMUS permission granted! EVERYTHING ABOVE is, opinion, speculation, possibilities, potentialities, within the bounds of possibility, hunch, guesswork, predilection, possible preconceived notions, elucidation, inference, crapshoot, gut feeling, hearsay, suggestions, potentiality, notions, buzz, dish, gossip, hearsay, noise, scuttlebutt, my point of view, rumblings, musings, estimations, suppositions, and whispers and SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN AS FACT unless otherwise noted.

And it automatically came on the posts poof not there! no idea

How do I get it back on? I dont know how I got it on ! I dont know how I lost it! And I just looked to try and figure it out and am clueless!

Thats funny Don't know how I did it! Dont know how I undid it ! And now just know nuthin! Thats funny

You were talking about a man's re-election. His officers followed the law, red flag or no red flag. All the big red flags should have been seen long before the officers got involved, imo.

Yes, I was, and thanks for bringing it up again (not sure why). fwiw, my vote has been decided on the basis of how this case was handled.

It may well be true (red flags before...how?), but that does not negate what I think about THIS particular well-being check. Despite legal protections in-place for the target, a more 'artful' interview might have been instrumental in avoiding this tragedy. Even ER himself was all gleeful about how officers did not go beyond his doorstep as if he expected it, and I wonder what he would have done/asserted had a friendly request from 'authority' been made to step inside.

We know he was interviewed on his doorstep. We do not know if an officer asked if they could "step inside and talk" or not. I cannot, in good conscience, fault or scapegoat an individual or his employees for following civil rights' laws. I work and vote to change the laws I do not agree with.

he had "three semi automatic handguns--a Glock 34 and two Sig Sauer P226s-- as well as more than 400 rounds of ammo when he died."

Let's just say a family could go on a decent vacation for a week including airfare for what this all cost. The Glock 34 - is a modified version- to make it legal in CA- they run about 650. Sig: 599
Is it a real high powered gun - like compared to other kinds?

I must say, when I was in college , if I heard clicks that were without a doubt a gun I certainly would have relocated! Quick! But back then you did not a assualt weapon to cross the street.

A regular shotgun will blow a bigger hole. Ammo is not specified that I can find in MSM.

Hollow points bounce around and inflict more damage than a regular bullet. Buckshot also creates a big mess.
Sometimes a "high powered" gun inflicts less damage- as the bullet goes straight through and out- a clean hole. A smaller gun, like a .22, requires a person to be closer to be effective.

ETA: firing speed- gun may fire faster, but damage is based on accuracy and ammo, imo. If one can get 10 shots off, does not mean he can or will automatically kill 10 people, IYKWIM?

Yep IMO this is all about congress they need to come back from vacation, build 4 billion less in guided missiles , move it over the mental health and I am condfident the headlines will be different!

The CEOs of private health insur should take a 1.8 million a year paycut and pay for services.

Issue addressed!

Actually, we do know since ER wrote about police coming to see him in his manifesto. So, they didn't ask if they could step inside or look inside.

California Police Lacked Probable Cause To Confiscate Shooter Elliot Rodger's Handguns

“For an adult who doesn’t have a criminal record or a record of commitment for mental illness, there’s no reason he couldn’t get a handgun,”

"The authorities questioned Rodger on his doorstep. But according to Volokh, the founder of a popular legal blog, the Volokh Conspiracy, even had they entered and seen the handguns, they could not have confiscated them. "

ER had his detailed plan to kill people (his manifesto). If police saw that they could have arrested him on the spot. I realize there are limitations on what police could have done. But they still could have done a lot more than they did. Even ER believed it would be all over if they searched his room and saw what he was up to.

This is not LEs fault. They went by protocol. Did the officers have a search warrant? No. So they could not have entered the home or searched ER's room. That's just how it is. Responsibility for the rampage rests squarely on ER's shoulders, IMO. No.one.else.

bbm:
Unfortunately, they did not have a search warrant, nor were they let in.

It states in his manifesto/journal "If they had demanded to search my room…". It does not say if any one politely asked if they could go inside or not.

I wish they could have done something to get him committed- but following law, their hands were tied. The people who could have had him held did not make an attempt that I have seen mentioned in MSM.

Another problem- 2 roomies rights.

don't shoot the messenger- I'm not in Congress :truce:

Absolutely. It is what it is. Sadly.

‘Everyone is focusing on Elliot’s lack of success with women, but they need to appreciate he was unable to communicate with anyone...

‘I was a bit worried, so I called his mum ....She was worried as well, ......... she told me they were doing all they could to help him, that he was seeing a psychiatrist

His parents loved him and they never pushed him away.

Philip Bloeser, 22, was one of 30 people that Elliot Rodger sent his hate-filled manifesto to on Friday
Bloeser has said that he can't sleep or eat since reading the 22-year-old's 140-page-long rant
Revealed that he began to worry about his friend in January after a disturbing Facebook post
Bloeser described his friend as having a 'boring personality' and being 'incredibly shy'
Claimed that he was not as close as Rodger made out in his manifesto
Bloeser said that Rodger kept his mental illness hidden from everyone

chilling manifesto, emailed by Rodger just nine minutes before he killed his first two victims, sorority sisters Veronika Weiss and Katie Cooper

The first Philip knew about Friday night’s carnage in Isla Vista was when he turned on the TV the following morning
He then checked his emails and found the manifesto, which left him sick to his stomach. S

‘I have been literally sick every day since this happened. I can’t eat and I’m struggling to sleep.

‘ Elliot was incredibly shy and awkward his entire life and it was clear he had issues, but there was never anything to suggest he was capable of this. He never displayed anything even bordering on violence or aggression.

........... Back in January he posted something slightly worrying on Facebook. It wasn’t extreme or aggressive, but he seemed depressed.

‘I honestly had no idea he was being treated for mental health problems,

I can’t remember it word for word, but he was basically saying how lonely he was and that no girls would ever talk to him. I actually posted a comment to try to cheer him up, but he deleted it.

He obviously had a serious mental illness; that he was able to hide from the world.

‘He would never dream of approaching a girl,

Philip says he always found Elliot incredibly awkward and shy.

He said: ‘I always like to reach out to people and I am a friendly person, so despite the fact Elliot was difficult to talk to, I became friends with him.’

They could have asked him. They were perfectly withing their legal rights to ask him if they could look around in his room.
They could have viewed his videos.

YES! And at the very least, they could have conducted their 'interview' in his apt rather than on the doorstep. :-/

And they could have viewed his videos and/or had access to see those which had been removed, as well his posts on other social media.

What law prevented them from checking recent gun registrations as part of their response?

Anyone know anything about how much money is involved with the 3 guns and ammo?

DO they all use the same bullets, how fast fire, cost , bullet sizes etc>

If I remember correctly from the manifesto, one was $500.00 and the sig (I think that's what it was) was $700.00. I don't remember him mentioning the price of the third one, or was it the first. scratching my head... He never wanted his account to go below $5000.00 (for retribution day) while he was playing the Arizona lottery.

Interesting when a friend saw a depressed-sounding post on fb by ER; the friend posted to cheer ER up and ER deleted the post. I am speculating that ER felt it made him look weak, maybe. I mean someone was reaching out to him. Was he delusional enough to misinterpret a sympathetic post as a taunt?

Listen, I just got done dealing with a very lazy Petaluma Police Department. We had our door kicked in by my 20 year old step-son we kicked out 3 years ago for violent behavior and drugs. He kicked our door in!!! We could not lock it. He threatened my husband and I. Our security guard talked him into leaving. I called 911 the minute he showed up and the police did not get here until at least 10 minutes later. We could have all been dead. He slashed his sister's car tire.

His Instagram has pics of all of his drugs, videos of him counting his drug money, illegal knives and brass knuckles, video of him stealing his sister's car, but lots and lots of drugs he sells.

The police argued with me for hours that that was not enough probable cause to get a warrant.

I spoke to my friend who used to work at the Sonoma County DAs office and she said bull. They were being lazy.

Then, the court Commissioner denied our TRO! Also very unbelievable according to my friend.

Anyway - the police COULD have watched his video, had probable cause to get a warrant and then they would have discovered the plan and guns.

What is wrong with the police these days???? So worried about the civil rights of others and seems to me THEY DON'T KNOW THE LAW.

Seriously, I have a JD and these cops were rolling their eyes at me. Grrrrr.
