True story, I had a potential client who beat the everloving 🤬🤬🤬🤬 out of his girlfriend. So, I didn't take him as a client. End of story. Attorneys generally get a choice!!! (Unless it's a public defender, but this guy is not a public defender.) That said, every defendant needs a good lawyer to provide them with a vigorous defense (regardless of whether they deserve one or not)--that's the only way the system works. And if someone is inadequately defended, that opens up the door to later appeals.

Defense attorneys are built different. I could never defend someone like this. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I helped to put someone like Jake back on the street. You have to respect people who can do it, because without them innocent people would go away for crimes they didn't commit and/or the guilty wouldn't get put away at all as a result of being unable to access their legal right to be defended adequately. You need good defense attorneys to make sure that the state puts on an adequate case before someone gets locked up. The state can't do that without defense attorneys to push back.

Defense attorneys need to be there to make sure the system works fairly and the prosecution does their job.

some defense attorneys are just trying to make a living for their own family, and are fully willing to take on such clients.

Well ... I tried so hard to practice 'restraint' while JH and RH were still considered 'victims' according to WS TOS ... it was challenging. Now I can join everyone who believed from the beginning that JH should never, ever have had the opportunity to father another child, let alone be anywhere near his own and anybody else's children.
And as far as his lawyer goes ... it is a good thing he is in hiding ... he should stay there ... and the judge that tried the case of JH and his ex-wife's brutal, heinous treatment of their 10 week old daughter ... should be in hiding as well!

Godspeed little Emmanuel ... though my heart breaks for you, I am comforted knowing you are no longer suffering and your sister is safe.

I can certainly appreciate that. However, there's a mile wide difference between defending a person's basic rights in a criminal trial, and doing all you can to make sure the monster you're defending doesn't actually pay for his crime. The former is commendable, the latter is reprehensible, and the reason criminal defense attorneys have such a rotten reputation.

If anyone is able to get their hands on the judge's decision in the first case I'd be VERY interested to read it...

I doubt it will be allowed under the California rules of evidence, but I hope I'm wrong.

I’m not familiar with California laws, but can’t aspects of a defendant’s history be presented if they demonstrate a pattern of behavior?

From what I remember from evidence class in law school, it would be inadmissible character evidence, at least under the Federal Rules of Evidence. Idk if California follows the character evidence rule. A cursory Google search suggests they do (see: California Evidence Code § 1101).

With the parents being arrested makes one wonder what was found in Dads car that they seized and searched Tuesday.
Didn’t they have cadaver dogs out there? Maybe they got a hit on the car and coupled with GPS info it led to more evidence for an arrest.

Felony Friday comes for a deserving couple.

This is pretty much what we all knew had happened from the start...I just hope that they can locate this poor baby's body so he can have a proper burial. It breaks my heart to think about what they might have done to him.

Because of the arrests are we now allowed to talk about/show parents previous court records? Like restraining orders etc? I can never remember this rule

BBM

Can the Governor or State Reps be contacted to request this? I'm all for starting the process!
We have a sex offender registry. Why not a crimes against children registry?

Where I am anyone who had done the sort of thing he did first time round would have a permanent flag so any future children would alert CPS. Or many have it a probabtion requirement that they must declare if they have access to children. They'd never be allowed to live with another child.

It's heartbreaking that the dots weren't joined and this prevented. My verdict is very much out on RH on exactly what I think but he is a 🤬🤬🤬.

Happy to see they've been arrested.
I hope they get convicted and Jake especially is never free to hurt another baby ever again.

Does anyone know why they'd arrest this way? so heavy handed?( bobcat went through their fence)
Im not complaining I am just wondering why they had to do that way? maybe no lawyer to get them to turm themselves in? hes allegedly MIA , maybe thats normal to do it that way? or could it be that they have some solid evidence?
My personal guess (just a guess, not an educated one) is it might have to do with not wanting them to have an opportunity to speak to each other after they learn they’re going to be arrested.

I would hope the media is on that. Plea deal as there was no trial, but how did they accept no jail time so easily? You beat on a 10-week old, but heck you admit to it, so never mind prison time.

At least now Jake's Sept 2 bond hearing is pretty much of non importance. Or at least lesser as this new felony arrest should cost him the bond and with a hopeful trial, never see the light of day again.

May they be held without bond.

Glad LE didn't give their lawyers the option of having them turn themselves in.
They got arrested in the manner that they deserve.
May they rot in prison and suffer much, death is too easy.
IMO

Pattern can be an exception as I recall, but not sure 2 is a pattern, and regardless, not sure they would want to risk taking that position in this case. Just sets up an appeal.

i know.... it seems so very, very wrong on so many levels, and i don't 'like' it. i don't think i've ever kept silent on ws regarding my opinions on how some defense lawyers argue cases but, many lawyers can justify their legal representation of monsters like this as that's the way our legal system operates... and that's the way it is...whether i 'like' it or not, i agree with it.
