gov newsom's 2019 moratorium on death penalty

Governor Gavin Newsom signed an executive order today placing a moratorium on the death penalty in California. The executive order also calls for withdrawing California’s lethal injection protocols and immediately closing the execution chamber at San Quentin State Prison. The order does not provide for the release of any individual from prison or otherwise alter any current conviction or sentence.

I am fine without DP. I would like these people to suffer in prison for decades.

There were about five hours between the time she was booked and the time he was. Why would that be? Were they maybe questioning him for longer than they did her?

I don’t have a link as this was livestream but this was from the guest Steve Fisher aka SFinvestigates, PI who’s been working this case on his own and was just on CourtTV this evening. He shared this document from law enforcement.

This was from Jake’s previous arrest and charges
For the violence against their then 10 week old 😞

The sentencing that EH received for abusing and nearly killing his daughter was such a miscarriage of justice. I know many don't agree, but judges should be held accountable in the face of such horrific crimes, when people get a slap on the wrist. Promise Faith's injuries did not occurr from a single, act of violence. She was battered over time.

Hearing that both were charged makes it a little more complicated, I’m not ready to fault the judge. This isn’t the type of crime I think any sort of prejudice could lead a judge to want to give just a slap on the wrist for. And keep in mind, I believe the government could have appealed if they felt the sentence was too low, so now you need two people in positions that involve the pursuit of justice thinking that abusing a child to such an extent is not worthy of jail.

My guess is the alternative was dropping the charges, because they couldn’t prove which one of them did it. You can’t just lock up two people for 25 years because you know for sure one of the two of them did it. This way both got into the system, and put them under tight scrutiny.

And the probation violation didn’t give them grounds to revoke his probation without a hearing. Maybe they could have revoked bail, but that’s not supposed to be an end-run around the right to a hearing.

What I don’t understand is why those charges weren’t enough to take his subsequent children away at birth (or into the custody of the mother if she was willing to leave him). That wasn’t the judge’s determination as far as we know, that would fall under CPS jurisdiction.

Do we even know for sure she's a victim of DV? Just wondering.
We don't know. But as someone who got a hideous black eye that was completely my fault (running down stairs in my apartment building) I'm not prepared to judge yet (although I don't think her shiner was due to falling down a few steps in a high-rise).

We absolutely do not. She could have done it to herself for all we know.

Imo part of this shows that he wasn’t just throwing her under the bus. While she refused to talk - the doctor noted this would have been crying and difficult breathing and very traumatic. Not just lay in bed and oh her back feels crunchy or whatever the words were

The holy crap many broken ribs

The broken bone which would have been twisting

She didn’t just miss all of this.

Oh no!
I haven’t yet watched any newscasts or TV news about this.

Where do you suppose they found the (very few) pictures we have already seen of Emmanuel?
MOO - Their phones? Relatives? Grandmother Mary had a few (very few) on her Facebook, including the one with his black eye that was used on a news program. (She added this one in April.) In this copy of the black eye picture you can see there’s a cut or scratch on the side of his nose along with the bruising.

She actually has more pictures of their bird & dog than she has of her grandkids or great grandkids.

Indeed.
Baby's bones are fairly flexible due to being in the womb and it would take twisting or other force to break them, I think ?
The pain little Emmanuel must have been in.
Ghastly and sickening.
Imo.

Right?
Fractures of various kinds on the 5th thru 12th ribs. Skull fracture. Brain hemorrhage. Swelling of soft tissue on the neck. INSANE.

Imo.

This was for the previous baby who had brain injury. Some speculated that his wife at the time only received charges because babies can’t talk.

Well that little girls body spoke on her behalf and that’s why that woman received charges. Not enough. Not nearly enough.

I once sneezed right when I opened the refrigerator door. I had a similar bruise. It just strikes me as so linear. I'm no expert, though. So all JMO.

Dead give away was when they were talking to mom on camera, there were no tears, it was a pretend cry.

I couldn't see his feet ?
There must be more than one video. The first one I saw didn’t show his feet, the second one, which looked like it was taken from the same angle but clearly showed his bare feet.

Yep.
Wrists and ankles as well.
Wonder why the egg donor wasn't ?
Imo.
I see no shackles. He was walking "tenderly" on the rocky dirt because he was barefoot.

ETA: Also wearing striped boxers and T shirt. IMO jerked out of bed and screw putting even slip ons or sandals on. Off to jail you go.
