Bbm.
I've followed a fair amount of cases and this is a strange one.
Custody issue ?
Aside from that, it's an odd choice of venue for an abduction.
People around, plus security cameras.
Hope the little one is safely rescued !
Imo.
My hinky meter's prelimary report shows either family/custody issue or it's a fabrication. It's not computing an abduction of a 7-month old who looks like he has some physical issues, in a public place and after assaulting the mother.

Of course, my hinky meter is not certified and it tends to match my opinion.

We need more info - like video from the public place!

So at seven months this child has length of a newborn? Ummm... And what were the circumstances of his vanishing? It's not like he decided to take a stroll in the town.
Didn't cop the weight until you pointed it out very light is that 1 .5 stone ( 14 lb =1 stone ) or there abouts and how many kg anyone to do the maths

Agreed. Some video footage would be helpful.

1.5 stones is 9.5 kg, I think?

At 7 months, I actually see the average for boys being 8-9 kg in my local child medical charts (I'm in Europe tho), so he seems to be bigger than average and this is for sure not a newborn weight.

As for height, he is reported as approximately 24 inches (61 cm). This is very short for his age, but not newborn-short. The average at 7 months seems to be 69 cm (27 inches), his actual height is matching as the average 3-month-old. It could be influenced by a medical condition, but could be a sign of malnutrition or similar, theoretically.

Where are you getting 14 pounds? The police department stated he's 21 pounds. 14 pounds would be barely more than a newborn, but 21 pounds is big for a 7 month old, IMO.

Edited to add: 21 lb = 9.5 kg.

Deputies responded to the 34000 block of Yucaipa Boulevard, an area near a shopping center and several stores, just before 8 p.m. Thursday regarding a 7-month-old boy who was reported missing. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, a woman reported that she was attacked outside a retail store, and during the attack, the baby was taken.

OK child was cross eyed, quite an old phrase !! Might explain why we don't have a front facing pic . Mom and dad may not have wanted this highlighted in the photos ?

Oh, yes. Sorry, I misread and thought you were saying that was the baby's weight! Now I realize you were talking about something else. Sorry about that.

No need to apologise, sometimes I don't explain myself properly and expect others to SEE my train of thought 😀 I meant his weight in stones would be 1.5 stone = 21 pounds . So I was insinuating he was well looked after and well fed

I'm personally not reading anything into height or weight, prematurity and medical issues can impact growth.

However, an abduction in such a public place seems brazen. Although not unheard of... I'll be watching this one closely.

Truly hoping this ends more positively then other recent similar cases :(

14lbs barely more than a newborn??! Crikey they must make big babies there (crosses legs) 😂

Question for anyone with recent experience with treatment of crossed eyes in children: My friend's daughter still had crossed eyes at around 5 or 6 months of age, and the doctor recommended eye patches. That was about eight years ago. Is the protocol still to start at 5 or 6 months, or has that changed? MOO I was curious as to why this missing cutie pie doesn't appear to be receiving treatment from the one photo we've seen.

That was my first thought. Maybe for privacy purposes? But then again, they released his photo.

Actually 21 pounds, 1.5 stone, or 9.5 kg. Gosh ... we seem to have lots of trouble figuring out this dear boy's weight. And to think, we all speak English. :) :)

Reported kidnapping is still under investigation

this articles says k9 scent dogs were deployed but the child was not located. Would k-9s be expected to catch the scent of baby if the alleged abductor snatched the baby and loaded him in to a vehicle and drove off?

Deputies Investigate Alleged Kidnapping of 7-Month-Old on Yucaipa Boulevard - Victor Valley News
this link features a different picture of baby, still a profile view but at least a second photo has ben made available.

ETA I still don't get why we haven't been given at least the child's name.

I have a child with strabismus -- it depends on what the cause is. If it's just a muscle issue they might have to do surgery. If it's a vision issue they might do just glasses, just patching, or both glasses and patching. Either way, you don't wear a patch all the time. My child wears a patch for two hours every day and when he started it was just one hour. After you start patching, it takes a while to work. My son has been patching for about a year and his eyes are much better but not completely straight. I don't think there's any evidence that this child isn't being treated.

This article has another photo from a more direct angle. Sorry, I didn't know if I was allowed to crop it, but if you click on it you can see the baby on the right side.

They have released his name. It's in the ABC7 article. Baby is Emmanuel Haro, mother is Rebecca Haro, father is Jake Haro, and the family has five children. A stepchild of Rebecca's is also mentioned; I'm not sure if that's one of the five or an additional child.

Here's another picture from the video in this same article. Sorry it's kind of dark. I had to pause it to screenshot.
