Gosh, I am suddenly feeling like I know nothing about this case. Where has it been reported she was homeschooled? I totally missed it. Thanks in advance.

It was reported in the beginning stages of the case. I'll see if I can find it again.

I also wonder about the witness who got asked about the best way to get rid of a body. Did he just say "oh shucks, no clue" and go on about his day? Or did he offer some suggestions? Or did he call the cops? It would be interesting to know if he did and what they did about it. I mean, what kind of person would NOT be a little freaked by someone asking you that question? Unless you know they were a writer or Websleuth, that is.

I wonder about this, too. Perhaps it was under the guise of just chatting. I mean, maybe CL didn't just come out and say it. Maybe there was more to it. It would still freak *me* out. But what if CL was pretending to talk about military stuff? I don't know. Just saying, it might not have been so apparent he was being serious. However, it was obvious enough (I suppose) that the witness came forward. JMOO

Also, she was home schooled so she may not have been as wise to the ways of the world as children who attend school outside the home. I get the feeling she was rather sheltered and living in a bit of a bubble. Not that there is anything wrong with that it just lends credence to what she may have seen in CL. Lord knows I've searched high and low and I still haven't found a redeeming quality. Oh wait! Nope - never mind. I got nothin'.

BBM: "Erin was home-schooled, and Jonathan and Leah went to Oak Ridge High School together."

The above is an excellent article and a great reminder of who Erin was and why we are all here fighting for justice in this oh-so-ugly crime.

I don't know why but I hadn't even thought about the camera. It wasn't seized in the searches as far as we know, right? So where was it? That would be excellent news if it's with her and they can recover photos of them together on that day. Somehow I doubt CL even knows they can find date, time, location, etc. (depending on the camera settings). Oh man now I REALLY want to know what else they found. Patience... patience...

There was a canon camera taken by LE, I saw that on one of the search warrants. But I don't know if it was the Lee's or Erin's.

During the search, .223 caliber ammunition, a .45 caliber magazine with rounds, a Canon digital camera, a utility knife, a Samsung cell phone, a blue latex glove, tan boots, "camo" pants, a U-haul truck with contents, an iPod touch and a homemade destructive device known as a potato launcher were recovered, reports KFMB.

Thank you la2cabo; you're awesome! I had totally missed that story, and I thought I was up on this case. :banghead: Very much appreciated! :tyou:

I'd be curious to know if they recovered the .40 caliber gun in the mine shaft as well. After finding Erin's body and arresting Chris, we aren't getting any information. It's all being saved now for trial. We won't know what was found in the mine besides her, or how she died. We are going to have to wait. We'll have plenty to discuss then.

Hi Seajay
The only information that has been released so far about the mine shaft ~

"The former Marine accused of killing Erin Corwin admitted searching the Internet for advice on how to dispose of a body, and .22-caliber cartridge casings and pieces of rebar at the mine shaft where she was found matched those found in his Jeep, according to an arrest warrant filed in California Superior Court.

Christopher Brandon Lee also asked a witness about the best way to dispose of a body and told investigators he was collecting tires the morning Corwin disappeared. A tire also was found at the mine shaft."

I can't speak to her upbringing/schooling in her family of 7 siblings (I think), but going way back to the first days Erin was missing, I saw her 'biological dad' and his partner in a MSM video interview where he stated "this girl just needs to be brought home" and seemed quite choked up. IIRC, Erin was adopted, and didn't know her biological father (the man in the interview), and her biological mother was said to be in jail/prison. Not sure if true, but I thought she was adopted by her mom (Lore Heavlin) and her husband at the time, and then they divorced and her mother remarried her current husband when Erin was young. So Erin's parents who came to 29 Palms initially when she went missing were her adoptive mother and her current husband (Erin's stepfather). Her parentage and upbringing are not relevant to what happened to Erin, IMO, just commenting on what IIRC her familial background was. Obviously her family loved her and that is all that's important, whether she was homeschooled or adopted or anything. IMOO

I can say that majority of this is totally not true. Not having any msm to back it up I'm leaving it at that.

I'm having a difficult time understanding what her familial background has to do with her being dead. I understand she was home-schooled and may have been somewhat sheltered and possibly naive but beyond that I don't really understand the relevance of who her bio parents/siblings may or may not have been.

Sunday schools don't really have the American flag in the room, do they?

  • #752
Since when do Sunday schools have the American flag in the room?

Since when do classrooms have a pulpit? My church has both..... Just sayin'.......

FWIW, my home church has always had the American flag and the Christian flag on display in the sanctuary. I grew up not far from Oak Ridge, TN and many of the churches I visited growing up had both of those flags on display. MOO.

Not uncommon at all for Churches to have American flag in the sanctuary or even in classrooms.

  • #755
Although I've never been to a regular school that had an American flag in a classroom either. Hrm

Home-schooled children have a "graduation" of sorts and this could be it. Also, since there is no MSM link for this picture I personally, am going to completely disregard the picture. Where did it come from?

Hey sorry, I wasn't thinking. Sorry, just trying to show that she wasn't all that sheltered you know.

Stop with the flag and church discussion. It is off topic, stems from a picture that is not sourced and is against TOS.

Let it go.

Okay, move on to something else. What if the Jeep didn't pick her up? What if it was another car that has a 106" wheelbase and similar tires? Like a Nissan Leaf, or a 2012 Chevy Cruze? There's also the Nissan Rogue, Toyota Prius, Mazda CX5, Ford Escape.... Etc.
