he doesnt look OLD old, but i have 23, 20 and 18 year old sons and he does look older than them. its around the eyes.

I guess it's subjective. He definitely looks younger than my son who is a few years older than him (probably because of his rounder cheeks.)

Didn’t find previous arrests in the county. He is only 19 though so could have a juvenile record.

What I'm thinking is perhaps it was Jai's friend he was after. Knew where she was. Is it possible she was too traumatized to ID him?

No doubt whatsoever that had to be unbelievably chaotic being in your sleep awakened by such horror.

Assuming nobody turned on the lights during the assault, I think it’s possible to go unrecognized in the darkness and chaos. Also could have worn a ski mask or even a COVID related mask if he was worried about being recognized.

I go back and forth on what I think happened. Completely random break-in doesn’t smell right to me. Several recent theories in this thread seem possible. All MOO

It looks like he is wearing a covid mask in the video that was released by the police in an attempt to identify him.

What was he after in the burglary? Why kill an 8 year old? She wouldn't have been a problem or was it so She couldn't identify him? I think there is more tothis.Moo

He was charged with PC459-F1: Burglary - 1st Degree. According to California Penal Code 459 he would be charged with this if he broke into/entered the residence with the intent to commit any felony. This means that he either entered the home to steal something or he specifically entered the home to commit another felony (such as rape, murder, etc.) I erroneously believed, prior to reading the definition, that he would have had to have taken something from the home in order to be charged with 1st degree burglary.

Yes he does. What would make someone so horribly evil at just 19? Nobody was this coming? I swear I will never understand unless it's just that for some reason some men are just born evil. I know women can be evil too. Sigh.

This may be in reference to a Facebook profile that belongs to a person with the same name and hometown as the killer and who appears to be in the military. Other than having the same name and hometown as the killer, the FB profile I saw does not appear to belong to the killer. MOO

(a glimpse perhaps into motive?) I looked at the charges when they were first filed and that charge was definitely not there. He plead not guilty to all charges.

Do you mean the intended target? I am thinking it's a real possibility with that charge being added. Or perhaps unrelated and it was added due to something they found on his computer, phone and/or in his house? Time will tell, I guess.

There is a Pre-Preliminary Hearing scheduled for October 6th and a Preliminary Hearing scheduled for October 26th. I couldn't find anything other than that.

I have been following this case from the beginning. After the suspect was arrested in 1991, his first court appearance was on 4/16/2021. Today is 10/25/2024, 3.5 years after intial arraignment. Looking at court records, his latest appearance in court was on 9/25/24 where the accused waived his right to a speedy trial with his next appearance being 11/20/24 + sixty days. I guess that would push it to late December or, more likely, early January. This type of hearing has taken place 24 times since 4/16/2021. Any ideas why. Court notes don't mention anything else other than whatI shared above.
